‘The Otherworldly Treasure Hunt’
Before getting snatched, Bob had been just finishing up with his own boring mundane job for the day. So, naturally when, suddenly for no apparent reason, he found himself closing his eyes, he knew something was off. Even with his eyes closed he still could feel himself standing up but that was the thing- he swore he was sitting down literally a minute before.
Pondering his situation, he found that neither the need to breathe, nor the similarly constant craving for Chick-Fil-A that followed him throughout the workday, was present.
He didn’t think he was at his mundane job anymore. Something was wrong
His eyes shot open in shock. What caught his attention was the sign stretching about the curious space that he was in, its gaudy design immediately reminding him of his company’s logo. That same logo he had grown to despise, but had nowhere near the authority to change. Well, he didn't have any authority, but he could order for a cofee!
His eyes started to quickly search around, eager to gather any details, but before he could begin to really scan the empty landscape, he saw a mysterious figure forming under that exuberant banner.
Coiling like ghostly cobras, tendrils of fogy material collided, twisting into a vaguely humanoid shape.
Prieviously, Bob had spent the day bouncing around phone calls, well... Jan called him up to office early and he stayed late so... really it was almost two days, on top of that he thinks she was still annoyed at him from that time he accidentally ordered food to the office on the weekend... Essentially, he was ready to get his dose of extramundane.
“Uh… so why did you bring me here?” he murmured lightly in the direction of the mercurial figure, his enthusiasm just barely coming through his hesitant cadence.

Partially ignoring him “Welcome, you have been randomly selected to take part in the Otherworldly treasure hunt.” it started, raising a misty arm to point towards the sign above.
"Okay-"
“The first person to acquire the Grand Treasure will be able to return home while the rest will remain in the Otherworld” it continued, interupting Bob, its voice causing fear to dance the edge of Bob’s wonder at the contents of the its prose, yet still it managed to pull Bob's intrigue further forward.
“and you cannot refuse” it added eerily like a botched recording, aside from causing him to release an imperceptible flinch, doing nothing in denting Bob’s impervious confidence.
“Before you are teleported to the Otherworld, what will your starting weapon be?” it said, its voice once again returning to the toneless but much more human cadence it used earlier.
Bob’s eyes darted around excitedly as if expecting to see pedestals of various weapons emerge from the mist below but nothing came and nothing else was said.
Bob realised what was going on.
Although his eyes stopped darting around, the stirred look on his face didn’t dissipate.
If he was right did that mean he could pick any weapon? Master Sword? BFG?
The possibilities were endless, yet only one weapon was on this man’s mind and it was mankind’s strongest weapon.
“The Nuke “
……
When Bob came to, he was pretty ecstatic.
Right after he stated his weapon, he realised that the ‘treasure hunt game-master thing’ might just drop him off with a live nuke, but considering he wasn’t hot nuclear mist, he was optimistic.
Looking around, he tried to find something but all he found was that he was completely surrounded by trees. Plotless verdure, towering oaks: no otherworldly treasures, to be more precise.
Well, he was not one to be deterred by wilderness, but just as he was going to look for his nuclear missile launcher, a bizzare reaction occured in his brain. An odd sensation flew across his brain, like a series of switched had been flipped. That was when he saw it for the first time.

“Fuuuuuuuuuuuck”He then screamed very loudly, startling the nearby wildlife.

The 8th Day
One day life is good. The next day it isn't! The boundaries between... well, whatever they're between.. have shattered! Monsters burst out from cracks in the universe, and reality suddenly begins to function similar to a game -- but not a game that anyone knows all the rules about! Magic is suddenly real, but so are monsters and death! Lots of death! And the worst part of it all? I think we did it to ourselves! We invented video games, and personally I think that great Finger-in-the-Sky picked up a console somewhere and started playing them. Since He liked what he saw, he must've declared, """"On the 8th Day, let there be Game!"But what do I know about it all, really. After all, I'm just """"The Witness"""" forced to observe it all.__________________________________________________________________________Author's Note: There's a lot of tales where characters get stuck in a Virtual Reality. """"Sword Art Online"""", """"Log Horizon"""", """"The Legendary Moonlight Sculptor"""". This is a story told with the premise inverted -- instead of a person from reality going into a virtual world, what would happen if the virtual world instead came to reality?I want this tale to speak about the aspects of the game, as it has affected the current reality, but the focus of the story should never be on the """"reality-turned-game"""" itself, but on the characters and their oh-so-human struggles, personalities, and attempt to adjust and live within the bounds of their new existence. Hopefully this won't just be a story of """"reality turned into a game"""", but instead will be something more meaningful such as a story of the strengths, perseverance, and humanity of man-kind as they try to adapt and face the unknown.*** And, most importantly, I hope everyone enjoys reading it as much as I've enjoyed writing it. ***WARNING: RATED MATURE M[18+] FOR GORE, SEX, VIOLENCE. The apocalypse isn't a pretty place to try to survive in, and neither is every scene in a story trying to describe it.

Bon Week-end
He runs the underground. She’s made it her playground. Their time together--the stuff of pulp fiction. When a corrupt corporate conspiracy threatens to tear them apart, they blast back with their offbeat brand of crime and chaos. This story is just one from the pulps. Film critic Roger Ebert once described them as ‘cheap, disposable entertainment that you could take to work with you, and roll up and stick in your back pocket.’ So do just that--and read it on the weekend. Bon Week-end is a novel written in the tradition of Jean-Patrick Manchette’s neo-polar, existing now as what shall be known as the neo-serial. This is Nippoten’s second serial following the superhero epic Entirely Presenting You. This novel will have a rather unique release schedule compared to others.
