《blood tax》Chapter 28 Another possibility

The two chatted through the quiet shade of the trees and came to the lively urban area. The wide road is flanked by rows of beautifully decorated shops. A well-drawn drawing board hangs at the door of the store, which highlights the store's characteristics in a simple and clear manner. At each step there are paving open to the outside world, with a variety of candy, jewelry and clothes on it.
The sturdy clerk wore a short coat, spread an iron plate on an oven, and fry the fragrant food "babahahahah".
"I didn't know there was such a place so close to the embassy, it looked good!" Galadia pricked up her ears, "I thought you had to take me a long way to get lunch!"
"We've been in Bayeran for several days, haven't you studied the good things around?" Griffith took out a small notebook with colorful sheets of paper, and looked at one of the pages. The map looked at the street ahead again, "Come on, there."
"What are you holding in your hand?" The elf leaned over curiously, "What are these colorful ones?"
"Strategy? When you go to a new metropolis, don't you ask the people around you for an action guide?"
"First of all, there are usually no 'people' around me. Most elves have little pursuit of life. If you don't have something delicious today, you can wait a month to see if there is something delicious. Anyway, there is time!" Galadia waved her hand nonchalantly, "Secondly, I'm usually very busy, okay? It's either studying or training, and I have to socialize~ How can I come out to play when I have time."
"Okay," Griffith took out a small piece of red paper and handed it over, "this is a discount coupon. The voucher issued by the store to attract customers, you only need to pay 70% to 80% of the actual consumption."
"Hey, you~" Galadia crumpled the discount coupon into a small ball and threw it on Griffith's head.
Before the two came to a shop, Griffith lifted the curtain at the door and opened the wooden door with a thin piece of paper: "Store, two seats. I have a reservation. My name is Mr. Brandon."
"Please take a seat, sir," the chubby shop owner saw Galadia, and immediately burst into a flower-like smile, "Oh, noble lady elf, your presence really makes the shop shine!"
"Mmmm, don't say there are none, just bring out the delicious food!" Galadia happily sat down on the chair and looked around curiously.
Griffith opened his notebook and quickly ordered a good meal. The fat shopkeeper immediately took out the ingredients and prepared them in high spirits.
The waitress first brought a large plate of chopped green vegetables, poured white sauce on it, and then brought the two of them a ceramic bowl filled with white crystal particles.
"Well, rice seeds? You guys are starting to eat this too?" Galadia took a small sip with a small spoon, "It's very fragrant and glutinous!"
"This war, the kingdom opened up the southern province," Griffith took a big mouthful of vegetables, "there is a big river that flows from south to north, and every year after it overflows, it will leave fertile silt, then The yields of both wheat and rice are very high on the land. After the shipping has stabilized, the import of grain from there has been increasing every day.”
"Then you can eat less potatoes when there is a famine. Rice is as durable as wheat," Galadia said absentmindedly, staring at the steak that the fat boss was frying, "It's a good thing. !"

Feeling the anxious gaze, the fat boss quickly served the two of them roasted meat cut into small pieces, as well as three-color powder and sauces in small dishes, in addition to two pairs of slender sticks: "Beautiful Miss, please use these two wooden sticks to hold the meat slices, dip them in the brown sauce first, and then smear some fine powder to taste. The other sauce is soybean paste."
Galadia nodded, and like the shopkeeper, she clamped the barbecue and put it in her mouth.
"Not bad, not bad! I just grilled the beef, but why is there such a satisfying and happy touch?
"The elf's ears perked up. "Let me experience it carefully!" "
A large piece of roast meat was eaten by Galadia again.
"This is the diaphragm of the cow? It's grilled just right, allowing the taste of fat and grilling sauce to penetrate into it, blending with the taste of fresh beef," Galadia quickly ate another piece, "After smearing the soybean sauce alone The flavor is also very unique. It seems like a happy moo is happily chewing soybeans, which makes me experience the peaceful life in the countryside.”
"..." Griffith was speechless, so he could only ask the boss to add two more servings, "Eat slowly, there are other types, if you're full, you won't be able to eat anything else."
"I don't listen!"
"Then eat some vegetables~ If you only eat grilled meat, you will soon be too tired to eat it," Griffith watched the delicate-looking elf girl eat at a fast speed, and couldn't help taking it He picked up a spoonful of rice and handed it over, "Come~ take a bite of rice, it's a delicious combination."
"I still want to eat rice? Isn't that the fact that I don't have enough money to eat barbecue meat and I can only rely on grains to fill myself up!" Galadia couldn't dodge, so she had to frown and put a spoon in her mouth, reluctantly eating One bite.
"what!"
"Ah what?"
"Not bad! Adding a spoonful of rice and vegetables to the happiness of barbecue brings a completely different freshness," Galadia's eyes flashed with disgust, "It's not so warm, but it's very fulfilling and safe. , is this what you humans feel like 'home'!"
Griffith watched as Galadia pulled the grilled meat and rice into her mouth. She had completely forgotten what elegance and manners were, and ate like a porter who had been hungry for three days.
"slower……"
"Water! Water!" The elf girl suddenly beat the table in pain. Griffith was startled and hurriedly handed over a large glass of water.
"Gudong! Gudong!"
"Wow!" Galadia wiped her mouth, "It's terrible, I almost died..."
"It would be appalling if you choked to death like this~" Griffith covered his face with his hand, "You should pay attention after entering school in the fall!"
"Hmph, it's all because the throat is too narrow and inconvenient," Galadia poked her cheek and restrained a little.
Griffith slowly ate the food in front of him, smiling as he watched his companions eat. I don't know why, but Galadia looks so delicious when she eats, and just looking at her makes me feel very happy.
From time to time, those painful and terrifying memories left in the far east will stretch out their claws from the abyss of memory, trying to grab something to climb up. However, Griffith felt an indescribable joy and happiness as soon as he saw Galadia's bright eyes and the corners of his mouth raised.

If he could, he even wished that time would stop at this moment.
When the owner brought dessert after dinner, Griffith finally gathered up his courage:
"Are you free later? There's a good opera at the Palatine in the afternoon or evening."
When he said this, Griffith felt like his heart was about to pop out of his chest. He watched nervously as the girl's hand holding the chopsticks stopped, and the world seemed to freeze in an instant.
"Well~ I also heard that Bayeran's opera is not to be missed," the elf girl said slowly.
Griffith seemed to have had an illusion, and vaguely saw a little different cautiousness and hesitation on the girl's always expressive thin eyebrows and mouth corners.
"Today's play I heard that there will be a love that is obstructed in every possible way. I read it in the newspaper this morning," Galadia said in a twisted manner, "but~"
It really doesn't work~
"But there is my birthday party tonight. I'll go back and make preparations later. The embassy office may have arranged an event for me at night, maybe we'll meet in the theater!" Galadia finally finished her words.
Well... Griffith nodded in disappointment.
"However!" A light suddenly flashed in the elf girl's eyes, "We will be going to school in a few days! After Homonwarts, there won't be so many people taking care of me!"
The two fell silent for a while. Griffith actually had a question, but it would be very, very embarrassing to ask.
It may not be accidental that Galadia and I met in the Eastern Province, and she never explained what quests to perform there or what items to look for, but only mentioned that it would help her advance to a higher order.
After a series of coincidences, Griffith's thoughts became clearer. When he looked at these events from a different angle, he suddenly discovered a possibility.
Maybe the fact that Galadia appeared in Manisa was in itself to establish some kind of connection with me?
The fact that the consul's daughter, the darling of the moon god, would look for an unknown apprentice knight might seem absurd at first, but the mysterious world itself is made up of many incredible things.
...
August 29, 1443 of the Second Age.
Griffith got up early as usual, put on the fine mail over his short coat, and reached down to take a blue uniform from the hanger.
This dress was just delivered last night. The workmanship is very good. It feels as delicate and smooth as silk. The shoulders, cuffs and waistline have been carefully cut and trimmed. After washing, it can maintain a straight appearance without ironing. The flexibility doesn't hinder dance or battle in the slightest. Brand new horn buckles were fastened from the left shoulder down, and the solemn stand-up collar was paired with black boots, reminiscent of the uniform of a hussar. The cufflinks of the short coat and the belt that can be attached to the double-sided saber all have the Larmor family coat of arms of sterling silver, which clearly shows the identity of the person.
Such spring and summer uniforms require the purchase of at least two sets. Earl's Court Deacon Mr. Ashford personally oversaw the measuring and bespoke process to ensure no misunderstanding of Earl's Court's finances and decency.
This is just the spring and summer clothes. Winter uniforms Soft, warm wool scarves and capes are made from highland cashmere unique to the Valencia Mountains that separate the kingdom's western and southern borders. Although the school allows students to wear private clothes for dances and banquets, such a set of exquisite uniforms is not inferior to attending public events. It is said that some graduates even use college uniforms for weddings.
Griffith had a small problem, though. The uniform was so fitting that he didn't have room to tuck his carry-on weapon.
Sharp knives are undoubtedly not welcome at the Magic Academy. The uniforms designed by the school are only reserved for wands and necessary pockets to be worn, and the conspicuous saber can only be worn on special occasions.
Griffith thought about it for a while, and finally stuck two daggers into his boots, and three daggers on the back of the waist where the wand should have been.
It was just dawn, but there was no time for Griffith to go to the restaurant for breakfast today. He picked up his package and walked to the living room.
"Mr. Apprentice Knight, are you ready?"
Sonia's maid, Anna, was already waiting there. She brought some sandwiches with ham, fried eggs, and tomato, wrapped them in paper, and handed them over to the apprentice knight.
Griffith immediately noticed the strange gazes of several servants in the living room. Personal maids don't have to worry about other people's daily life!
Before Griffith could react, Anna leaned over, stood on tiptoe to tidy up his neckline and medal ribbon for him, and whispered close to his ear:
"There are a few things you can remember!
"Miss Sonia's jewelry and makeup are in pink Louisiane boxes with tags on them, and make sure they haven't been opened or damaged as soon as they arrive at the school.
"The book case is a blue leather case, the clothes are packed in two boxes, and the banquet dresses have to be ordered locally.
"The experimental materials were confiscated by the Countess. The school will say that they were lost accidentally, but you have to tell her quietly that I will send the second set of materials through United Express in two days.
"Miss Palulu, that owl, its..."
Griffith nodded again and again and hurriedly asked, "Can you write me down on a piece of paper."
"No way!" The maid pinched Griffith's arm and pushed him down the corridor. "Take the checklist and go to the hall to check your luggage in five minutes."
After a while, Griffith came to the hall. The academy has prepared special training armor and weapons for Shutoral, but even so, the luggage that Griffith and Sonia need to transport is also piled high, and the servants of the Earl's House keep coming from upstairs. Bring in new suitcases and supplies.
Those maids and servants who could not join the school will continue to work in the Earl's House. As a personal maid, Anna will be arranged to study grammar, arithmetic and etiquette in the church school to ensure that she can also serve the earl's family in the future.
At nine in the morning, Sonya, accompanied by her brother, came downstairs and said goodbye to the count, countess, and the multitude who had come to see them off. The daughter of Larmor's family is wearing a slim light blue dress. The exquisite workmanship outlines the lines of youth. The thin fabric and exposed shoulders make people worry about whether she will catch a cold even in summer. White light high-heeled shoes made the strings on the slender ankles particularly eye-catching, and the long blond hair was casually draped around the waist, which was completely the dress of a girl who went to the seaside.
Griffith stood quietly by the side and couldn't help comparing the countess' appearance with Galadia.
It took another half an hour for Sonia to finally listen to the Countess's exhortation, and had to pick up another short shawl that a girl who didn't quite fit her skirt would hardly use. Seeing that the lady was finally satisfied, the earl and Mr. Nolan, as if they had been granted amnesty, immediately put Sonia on the carriage, hula-la and drove to the bay.

Where Giants Fall
A fantasy LitRPG about traversing through worlds and slaying giants with nothing but a wooden suit and an army of treants. Nicholas Atkins didn't expect to wake up naked in the glowing woods. What he did expect was waking up to a hangover after last night's party- fortunately, that wasn't the case. Unfortunately though, he had worse problems to take care of than a headache. At first he blamed it on the alcohol; from what he recalled in Biology, glowing flowers didn't exactly exist in the realm of reality. However he was as sober as he could be, so next he blamed the drugs, but there was a problem- he didn't have the money to do drugs in the first place. When the fairies came, things became even weirder. Talks of climbing towers, magic tricks, and dinner were all on the table. Of course, dinner was the priority, but so was getting back home. However slowly, Nico realized that he might actually want to stay in this fantasy world. After all, he's had enough listening to Professor Paul's lecture on calculus- the swords and sorceries were just an added bonus. Still, staying in this new world has its own costs- and money is but one thing on that long, long list. Updated everyday except Saturday GMT+8 (Specific time varies by around 30 minutes). 8 84Midthalion Saga
+++Working on new chapters. Share what I've posted with your friends and family! Be sure to build strong bonds with those who are important to you. We only have each other in this world for so long!+++ Can Roderick XXIII gather together and train a party of adventurers to clear out Madeon Caves and bring peace to the wildmarches of Midthalion? Sent from his home monastery in the west to the wildmarches of Midthalion, Roderick the Holy Avenger is devoted to living out his oath to bring the Holy Light to the dark corners of the world. He enlists the help of an old friend, Ulrich Vogelbrandt the dwarf druid, to train and prepare a fighting force capable of defending the west from the evil they both see gathering and growing in the east. Eoroth is an ode to Tolkienesque epic fantasy, Robert E Howard and H.P. Lovecraft's pulp fiction, and Gygaxian Dungeons & Dragons. I like to write about serious topics because I think it's fun. I hope it makes for a fun read. Place: Eoroth, a vast, flat world with many continents set in oceans that reach out and mingle with the Celestial Sea. Our story takes place on the continent of Thalion in the middle, unsettled region called Midthalion. Peoples: Races in Eoroth aren't different species; the species of man is just incredibly diverse, consisting of many known races (and perhaps some unknown). There are no humans in Thalion. Thalion's races include variations of elves, dwarves, halflings (billowits), pierros (clownish men), bergeracs (long-nosed and swarthy men of honour), orcs, trolls, goblins, and hobgobs. The Church: There's one dominant religion in Westhalion. The faith of the elves is an analogue to Roman Catholicism while the dwarves practice an Eastern Orthodox analogue. (Forgive me for not having figured out names yet.) The practitioners worship a triune god (the All-Father, Son-of-All, and Holy Light). There are many powers in heaven, all created by God. These include the Twelve High Thrones, individual, created beings who take on the role of guiding mankind in different aspects, drawing them closer and closer to God. (That should be the essentials. I could write pages on the theology. Comment where something's unclear in the story.) Natural World: There are plants and animals in Eoroth, but the world is also inhabited by spirits called aeons. Aeons are transformative beings; in the wild, they'll change based on whatever is happening nearby. Pollute a pond? Expect to see toxic toad-men running around. Leave a bunch of dead bodies strewn across a battlefield? Expect the place to become haunted with ghouls and ghasts. Druids are important for making sure that the aeons are pacified; that their needs are met so that they don't become rampaging monsters. Where the wilderness becomes overgrown, so too do the aeons. Aeons and People: Long ago, men learned how to trap aeons in stone tablets and use them for war. Now, anyone can capture an aeon into a special staff made by a druid. Men train, raise, and bond with these aeons. Druids often build entire ranches devoted to raising healthy aeons as allies and companions. Aeons are divided into twelve known families, and the church sees these as corresponding with the Twelve Thrones in Heaven. Direction: My goal is to get the story to one million words by June next year. I have tons of content in mind for the world. I want to release novels set in different ages of the world depicting different historical events. I hope to expand the setting into a tabletop role-playing game as well as a series of old-school JRPGs. But, it all begins with writing some stories and publishing my novels.
8 232I Have Even Read the Rulebook!
As all stories begin, Prof died. Yes, truck-kun had something to do with that, but also a bird, a cat and some rebar. When he was presented with with the opportunity in the Afterlife Administration Bureau to be transmigrated into a game-like fantasy world, he did something, no one ever did: he read the Rulebook. Follow Prof on his road to be rich without working, touring a whole new world without a care and witness his realisation, that despite having read the Rulebook the folks living with the System for untold millennia know more about the rules. Important notes: 1, I'm not a native speaker, so be prepared for occassional typos, iffy grammar and maybe awkward sentences. The spell check was running, when I wrote the chapters, but it works in strange ways... If you point out mistakes, I will try to correct them 2, Scheduling will be two chapters a week, posted Saturdays before noon (CET). Depending on how much new chapters I can write consistently there will be probably more but as long as I have leftover chapters, the two per week will be posted no matter what. Chapters will be around 1500-2500 words as MS Word counts it. 3, I did not and will not post this novel on another site, if you find it somewhere else, please inform me 4, The Main Character's progression is slow, there will be no Levels, Skills, Abilities, Feats, Perks and Cheat Powers raining down on him 5, I've put Comedy as a genre because of my writing style not because the novel is a comedy per se. On the other hand, Traumatising Content is there because there is a lot of speciesism - those Elves are not nice people. 6, I put a lot of pop-cultural references into the chapters, try to find them! Enjoy!
