《blood tax》Chapter Four Attacks on Manisa Village
Advertisement
Griffith, heavily armed, crossed the flat country road, across the stream, across the hills. For him personally, such a March has been the norm for the past two years.
According to his plan, he only needs to March 30 miles on a good road and arrive before dusk. During the operation, he has to maintain the state of being ready to fight at any time.
The four man adventure team I saw earlier left in a hurry, as if they were not fighting, but snapping up free apples.
Although they looked very unreliable, Griffith used to think that he should join the friendly forces as soon as possible. After eliminating the option of camping out in the field, we can only try to persuade the adventurous team to stay in the village for one night, waiting for the next day to join the main militia and destroy the nest.
……
Two hours after leaving the town, the hazy figure of the adventurous party appeared in front of the road.At this rate, there should be no problem getting to Manisa village before sunset.
At the thought that the adventurers seemed to reject the idea of teaming up with outsiders, Griffith kept a distance from them in silence.
The road to the mountains began to bend and narrow, and the thick trees obscured the hillsides on both sides.Griffith was on the alert at once.In this kind of place, ambush can't be prevented!
At this time, a faint smell of blood came from the front, and a faint cry of pain could be heard.
Griffith quickly grasped his spear, bent down and entered the woods on one side and made a detour through them.
After a while, the adventurous team also noticed the situation, took up arms and rushed forward.
Soon, there were shouts of fighting and roaring from the front, and the adventurer team in front had entered the battle.
The fighting and shouting soon subsided, and when Griffith arrived, he found a broken carriage at the edge of the road. The coachman and the draft horse were stabbed into the stomach by sharp tools and were no longer breathing.
Four members of the adventure team were gathered around the carriage. The skinny nun was treating a man with a broken leg. Badu, waving his big axe, chopped off his head from several green corpses scattered around him. While chopping, he muttered: "one silver man, two silver men."
"You're late. These are our booty!"Miss boxer Ulan noticed Griffith's approach and immediately called out with a straight face.
Yes, yes, I know. The trainee Knight cleverly nods to the young boxer and bypasses them to inspect the scene.
"This Mr. Isis was attacked by goblin while driving by, and the coachman was killed," said Andy, the young swordsman, as he wiped the blood on his sword and pointed to the corpses on the ground. "Fortunately, we came early, killed four, and six escaped. Oh, by the way, this is the Griffith trainee Knight of the eastern army."
Griffith followed the direction of the young swordsman's fingers and saw four small bodies with their heads cut off. The gurgling black blood was flowing from the wounds.

"Hello, Mr. Knight trainee."Sitting on the ground, the middle-aged man who was undergoing treatment said with pain, "I am Isis, the apprentice of the mage. I came here to investigate the situation at the order of the master. The result is on the way. Ouch
The probationary nun apologized in a hurry. Her prayer is not skilled, in the treatment of the wound occurred a small failure, originally not very serious knife wound torn a little.
"Hello, master apprentice."
Griffith nodded his helmet as a greeting and continued to examine the scene of the battle.
The coachman's stomach was pulled open and his stomach was pulled out. His face was full of stiff pain.Dried blood and broken intestines were scattered on the grass beside the road.
"Mr. Isis, when were you attacked?"
"About half an hour ago, four little monsters jumped out of the woods and killed the rickshaw puller. I had to stand on the shelf and defend myself with sticks. Fortunately, they were too small to climb up, so they froze for a while.
"Then two of them began to tear at the driver's stomach, and the remaining two continued to attack me and cut my thigh."
"And then we arrived!"The boxer girl said triumphantly, "these guys still have ambushes. Six more come out of the woods, but we beat them away easily."
"Why do they choose to attack during the day?"Griffith looked up at the sun. It was still early and the sun was still hot.
"Who knows?" Andy shrugged indifferently.
Then Badu said, "by the way, if we keep on going, can we get to the village before dark, or search for their nests? Those goblins were injured just now, and the bloodstains will take us to their nests."
"Slow down," Griffith hastily stopped. "Everybody, let's go to Manisa. It's safe to join the militia in the town tomorrow and go to the nest."
The rest of the adventure team thought, the boxer girl was very determined to go to the nest and kill goblin, but the other two were hesitant.
"Wait!"Isis yelled, "I'll pay, 10 silvermen. Please grab my package. It's full of materials and medicines that I've collected so easily. They've been robbed by the cunning goblin. We can follow their bloodstains."
Hearing this request, the adventure team's opinions began to unify, and the boxer girl thought it was a good idea.
"Mr. knight, can you come with us?"Asked Isis respectfully.
"No, I'm going to Manisa to help."
"There's no need. The four of us are enough!"
Griffith and the boxer girl's voice almost at the same time.Young swordsman Andy's face was also obviously relieved.
"If you don't get your bags back by nightfall, come to Manisa as soon as possible," Griffith said, despairing to bring the adventurers back to the village to defend, but said, "the forest at night is dangerous."
"Yes, I know."The boxer girl waved her hand impatiently. Her companion bardo began to dig a hole in the ground to bury the body of the coachman. Andy helped the mage's assistant to walk into the woods.

……
As the sun was about to set, Griffith alone could see the shadow of Manisa village. From the hillside to the plain where the village is located, the villagers are driving their livestock back to the village. It is a peaceful scene.
Fortunately, I caught up with
"Jie Jie Jie Jie ~"
A shrill scream broke out.Suddenly, black spots of all sizes sprang up on the gradually darkening land. They move fast on flat land, barely able to see the black spots, and bring some unfortunate villagers to the ground. The villagers, who had not yet returned to the village, were in a state of chaos, and the cries of grief and terror rang through the fields.
How could you attack at this time!?Are you going to take the gate when the villagers return to the village?
Leaving the front line, the trainee knight had no horses to drive. He trotted toward the village and continued to observe the surrounding environment.
The village gate in the distance gushed many figures, holding long and short things to wave. But they did not seem to dare to leave the village gate too far away, just desperately waving their weapons and shouting.
"That's not going to work."Griffith was less than 200 steps away from the village. He dropped the package on his shoulder and rushed behind the assailant, holding a shotgun in both hands.
The distance between the two sides quickly drew closer. In the dim light, the trainee Knight saw dozens of small monsters which were not much higher than the children. They have sharp ears and green skin all over their bodies. They are wrapped in dirty rags around their waists, holding sticks, machetes and shotguns.
Goblin!
These creatures screamed and jumped at the villagers they had caught, and they knocked them to the ground with one stick. Then a large group of small monsters swarmed on and beat them down with all kinds of weapons.Occasionally a few women were caught, and the goblin grabbed the women's hair and clothes and dragged them back.
Goblin did not notice Griffith approaching from behind. But once they start fighting, it's only a matter of time before they notice.
Their organizations must be broken down as soon as possible!
Griffith leaped forward and struck sideways with his gun in both hands. The inferior shotgun opened two goblin skulls by the impact speed, and the red and white liquid splashed out.The woman who was still screaming for help suddenly found that the power to hold her was gone, and then she heard a plop.
Griffith continued to trot forward without looking at his own results and the rescued woman.Goblin in the field was scattered everywhere like sesame seeds on a cake. Griffith wielded his spear and stabbed from side to side. Wherever he went, Goblin fell down like wheat waves in the autumn wind.
Some of the fallen monsters were not immediately dead, rolling and shrieking. In the noisy fields, the goblin troops who were attacked suddenly behind did not understand what had happened. They were like pudding thrown on the ground. Most of them gave up their prey and looked around nervously.
Griffith moved quietly as he fought, picking out strong goblin fighters or grabbing Goblins who were not let go of village women. His enemies are also cunning and ferocious. They attack the trainee knights with sharp blades. However, under the attack of long weapons, these monsters have no strength and are killed in an instant.
A green shadow suddenly jumped out of the grass and fell sideways on Griffith. The trainee Knight shot it out of the air.
Almost at the same time, a force slammed on the helmet.Griffith was stumbling, reached out and pulled a goblin with a hammer from behind his head.
The cooperation is quite skillful! Is it a coincidence? The trainee Knight smashed goblin to the ground, lifted his iron boots and trampled on his head.
"Jie Jie Jie!"Three more goblins came, and they were suddenly scattered about four or five meters from Griffith, one from the front and two from the wings.
Damn it!It's not a coincidence!Griffith let go of his hands, and before the shotgun landed, he drew out a dagger and threw it to the right. Then he jumped to the right. In the process of jumping, he pulled out another dagger and threw it at goblin, who was on the left.
"AhTwo little monsters screamed. At the same time, the enemy on the front had already come forward, and with a sharp chisel, he thrust himself into Griffith's chest.
Griffith raised his hand to block, and there was a flash of fire on his strong hand guard. Then, without waiting for the surprise of the enemy to react, Griffith grabbed goblin's arm with a backhand and smashed it to the ground.
"Bang!"The little monster's head was smashed into pieces on a stone.
They can do simple synergy. Someone has trained these creatures!
The trainee knight took a breath, took back the dagger, picked up the shotgun, and rushed to a small group of enemies. There was no such skilful group among the rest of the enemy, and Griffith went back and forth several times in the not so large battlefield until all the brave goblin were killed. The remnant of the little monster howled,All the way north into the depths of the forest.
Almost killed 15, 15 silver coins, eh.Griffith scanned the field with satisfaction at the scattered corpses, determined that there was no living enemy, then pulled out the axe, cut off the heads of these little monsters one by one and put them into a bag.
These dirty, ferocious creatures have nothing but broken weapons and rags around their waists.
Griffith quickly collected the booty, picked up his bags and walked to the village gate.
Many villagers gathered at the gate of Manisa village. They comforted their neighbors who had escaped by chance, while staring at the trainee Knight walking through the gate and heading for the village.
Griffith, with a shotgun on his shoulder and double armour, walked steadily, and his iron boots crackled across the stones on the ground. The frightened villagers retreated to both sides like the tide of the reef.

For Grass and Glory

A story about unlikely friendship, being old, unexpected beauty, and the obsession of kicking a round leather ball in the best way possible. A story about a new world, and its possibilities. A story about the grass, and let us hope, a small bit of glory? Author note: This is a project of mine I started in 2016 and recently been writing for again. Writing for me is something I love to do, but can't always find the time for. This is also the reason I have not finished (or come close to) Ethereal Space yet. I get distracted. I started this novel intending to create something else, to break a bit with the current go to's story wise in the litRPG or virtual reality communities. So, this is my attempt at "Something different" I would love feedback or just your general opinion. But most of all, I hope it entertains. Enjoy!

Magic was once a reality of everyday life, shaping the lives of the gifted and ungifted alike since the dawn of humanity. That all changed in the fires of World War I. Seeking to avoid catastrophe, humanity’s leaders enacted the Masquerade Order and segregated the magical community while also forming The Congregation to enforce the separation. As time passed, the awesome power of magic was forgotten by the world outside. This held true for a little over a century, but things begin to change when three individuals intersect in the peaceful town of Ithaca, New York. Noelle Sellers, a newly minted policewoman searching for her place in the world. Levi Wright, a mage living in Ithaca who is far more than he lets on. Lorelei Himmel, a juvenile witch in hiding out of fear of what people would do to her, and what she may do to them.
