《Flaming Light》Chapter 13: Fearless

The Battle Royale Tournament has begun, Serena, Dubnet, Damian, Tesla, Teru, Maka and Dayve are through to the next round. After an electrifying round between Dayve and Erraz with different displays of incredible potentials, the last group, Group H having Kevine vs Kevla vs Borro are about to have their match.
“This is a tale of humans, beasts, and beings from other worlds. A tale of girl who wants to surpass the strongest; no this is their tale. A tale of hope. A tale of Flaming Light.”
“What a match!!! Quite the unexpected display of abilities. Now for the last match of this first round, we have the contestants Kevine, Kevla and Borro!!! What surprises await us?” the commentators loudly announce.
“Begin!!!” Echelone shouts.
The three contestants stand at the center of the recently fixed fighting platform, Borro and Kevla stare at Kevine who lazily looks at both of them.
Kevine sighs and says, “You both know you stand no chance of winning against me and had it not been for the teams you were in, there’s no way you would have made it this far, right?”
“Tch!!!” Kevla hisses and jumps backwards, bringing out his guns. He aims his guns at Kevine but Kevine directs his left palm at him.
Kevla tries to pull the trigger of his guns but is unable to move.
“What?!” he exclaims.
“Kinetic hold,” Kevine replies.
“Did I not say it? You both stand no chance,” he adds and releases a force wave from his palm, knocking off Kevla from the stage.
Borro frets after seeing this and brings out a round red pill from his pocket. He quickly swallows the pill and falls to ground, rolling and groaning.
“Wait!!! That pill!!! Isn’t that one of those banned elemental drugs?!” Hachi, one of the judges, shouts from his seat.
“Now that you mention, it sure did look the same,” Dinah, another judge, responds.
Suddenly, Borro stops groaning and stands up like a zombie, his pupils vanish and his eyes are completely white with red pigment around the edges. He begins to swell up, increasing in size till he is about eight feet in height, large in size and covered in red mist. He takes on a violent countenance, looking like a mad dog, gnashing his teeth. His upper body is way bigger than his lower body, that is, he now has larger arms and body but his legs did not have much expansion in size or length.
“Not only in size but his energy level just shut up tremendously. I’m not sure if this is something I can handle at my current level,” Kevine says, shivering a bit as he looks up to the now huge Borro’s face.
“Then he should be disqualified, shouldn’t he?” Deva, a judge, suggests.
The judges all nod in agreement, so do the Kings, Queens and other officials except for Draem, King of Psyville.
“The match will go on,” Draem says, levitating from his seat, till he reaches the edge of the fighting arena and is floating in the air far above the arena.
“Kid, I’m sure you can handle it,” Draem says, looking at Kevine, with a cold stare.
The judges are shocked by this, however, since Draem has given the permission to continue, they pause to see the decision of Kevine.
“It’s left to you now, Kevine, to decide if you want to go on or if the match should be annulled,” Echelone goes on to say.
Kevine looks up at Draem for a minute and looks back at Borro.

“I’ll go on,” he says and stretches his palm at Borro to constrain him however Borro moves swiftly, evading the ability and appears some distance above Kevine. He blows out air from his mouth and releases a small ball of air, sending it against Kevine. The attack is fast but Kevine barely manages to escape it as it shatters the ground.
“He’s huge but fast?!” Kevine says, perplexed at this outcome.
Immediately he completes his sentence, he sees a large fist in front of him, about to hit his face but tilts his face a bit. The attack grazes his cheek but sends him flying some distance.
“Ugh!!!” Kevine screams.
As he struggles to get on his feet, he begins to feel immense wind pressure directed at him, pushing him back. He tries to contain it using his psychic abilities but is unable to. The unconscious but mad Borro, sucks in a large amount of air and releases it against Kevine, pushing him out of the stage, crashing into the ground.
“It’s impossible for Kevine to deal with such and soon that mad Borro will go on a rampage and begin killing everyone, that’s how that drug works. It boosts up one’s ability to an insane level but has the side effect of going berserk, that’s why it was banned. How he even managed to sneak such in is a mystery,” Dinah states.
“Echelone, cancel this match and give the victory to Kevine,” She adds.
Draem turning his cold gaze to Dinah, says, “Watch.” After that, he returns his gaze to the match.
“Kid, I give you permission, use that,” he says to Kevine through telepathy.
Kevine has already staggered to get back on the stage to avoid losing due to the ten second count.
“AHHHHH!!!!” the mad Borro roars and rushes with speed for Kevine. Rapidly, He begins unleashing big balls of air against Kevine.
“So I can go all out then,” Kevine says within himself and closes his eyes. Everything around him becomes still, calm and quiet like the serene and tranquil atmosphere of a beautiful landscape near a mountain range. Immediately he opens his eyes, a powerful repelling force pushes away all that is around him, including the air balls; it even reaches Borro and sends him screeching back a few meters.
After this, Kevine’s short hair grows longer and is flowing upwards along with pieces of stones around him. A bit of purple glow enshrouds him.
“Sorry to have kept you all waiting, I wasn’t expecting to use this mode,” Kevine says confidently.
This puts a surprise on most spectators and gets the crowd all fired up.
“His power levels are off the charts at the moment,” Tesla says.
“How in the world?!” Teru is shocked.
“Well, seems we have an interesting fellow here. At the moment, his power level is in comparison to those of the prodigies,” Damian states.
“WOOOW!!! Quite the surprise, once again!!!” the commentators shout.
Kevine begins walking slowly towards Borro and some metres away, he gently taps his feet on the ground. Just by doing this, Borro is lifted up from the ground and by directing his palm at Borro, discharges a great force that slams Borro out of the fighting stage, deep into the wall of the fighting arena. Borro hurries out and dashes for Kevine but is sent flying sideways by a mighty force, into the wall of the fighting arena. Continuously, like bouncing a ball, Kevine flings the mad Borro around, tossing and slamming him into the walls and finally into the ground.

However, the mad Borro would not give up but gets back up and heads for Kevine like a machine programmed only to do one thing.
“I see now, you are not the problem,” Kevine says, walking towards Borro who keeps shooting balls of air against him but the balls of air all become immobile as they reach Kevine.
Once Kevine gets close enough to Borro, Borro tries to smash him with his hands but is unable to move. He struggles but cannot break free from the force restricting his movement.
“Give it up,” Kevine calmly says and directing his palm at Borro, begins to lift him off the ground. After this, Borro starts groaning once more, with his body reacting like it is being squeezed. His mouth opens up, blood and water begin flowing out and then the red pill from earlier, which is now smaller in size, flows out.
“You should have just given up, instead of looking for a short cut or an easier way to attain power. By all means necessary you wanted to win, however, you chose the wrong approach,” Kevine says as the pill floats to his hand and he crushes it.
Borro falls to the ground, panting and looking wrecked.
“Easy…for you to say, genius. You…have been blessed…with amazing abilities from birth. What do you know about working hard??!!” Borro questions.
Kevine is silent for a moment and replies, “You’re right. I don’t know much but I know of some legends who weren’t as strong or gifted as their peers but rose up, defying logic and fate and become some of the greatest warriors and heroes of their time.”
Borro hisses and says, “Fairy tales!!!”
Echelone completes his countdown and announces Kevine as the winner.
“Humph!!!” Draem sighs and turns to go back to his seat but feels something strange. He turns back to the fighting platform and to his surprise and everyone else’s, Goryu, King of Galedom, is standing there, with his huge and fierce appearance, looking down at Borro.
“What?! When did he?!” Dinah yells, getting up from her seat.
“What’s he doing on the stage?!” Hachi adds.
“This is an interesting turn of events,” Darius, King of Darkville says and smiles.
“What will you do, Phoenix?” Isabelle says to herself, grinning as she turns to Phoenix.
At the stage, Goryu stands firm in front of Borro. The pressure generated from Goryu’s presence alone is overwhelming, causing cracks on the stage floor and making it unbearable for Borro to even breathe, let alone, move.
“What a disgrace,” Goryu utters in his deep raspy voice, looking at Borro.
At the tip of his right index finger, a ball of air not more than the size of a drop of water, is formed and he says, “To use such a disgraceful tactic, your punishment is death. True Galeans (people from Galedom) do not use such demeaning tools. Our strength is more than enough, it would have been better to lose this fight than commit such atrocity.”
He flicks his finger down slowly, releasing the tiny air ball against Borro.
BOOMMM!!!
There is a huge bang and as the dust settles, a hole of about six feet with a diameter of about forty two meters is seen as the multitude gaze and remain silent. However, once the dust fully clears off, Campione is seen standing some meters from the large hole in front of the thirteen feet (13ft) Goryu, holding Borro with her left hand.
Everyone is astounded. “When did she get there?” they begin to murmur.
“She’s fast and fearless,” Deva comments.
“Of course. She learned from the best and if anyone of the judges present here were to go up against Goryu, Campione is the best bet,” Hachi says.
“Really? Goryu is the King of Galedom and one of the ‘true’ giants. Can Campione really face him one on one?” Deva inquires.
“There’s no certainty but she’s not called ‘the white berserker’ for nothing,” Saphix answers.
Dinah adds, saying, “Seems you don’t know who her father is neither do you have an idea who her teacher was, right?”
Deva remains silent and turns to see how the unexpected event would turn out.
Campione, still with Borro in her hands, looks up to Goryu, and says, “Oi!!! King of giants, is it? Leave it to us judges to decide what punishment crooks like him will get however don’t just butt in trying to carry out your jungle justice here. You’re very free to do such in your kingdom not here.”
Goryu looks down at Campione with rage and utters, “Kid!!! You’re more than a hundred years too early to address me in such manner. Hand over that failure of a brat before I pound you both to dust.”
“I’m assuming your ego knows no bound,” Campione replies.
“I’m leaving,” she adds and turns to walk away.
Immediately, an immense aura, coursing through the entire institute, creating mighty tremors is felt. Campione stops and takes a glance at Goryu.
“Shall we have a go here?” she says, smiling.
All the judges are now on standing, watching with anxiety.
“Shouldn’t we assist her?” Deva inquires.
“Getting into the field now might make it seem worse thereby leading to a war between Galedom and the Central Plains,” Dinah responds.
“Quite correct. Good grief what do we have here?” a male voice says, as a tall man wearing a brown hat steps into the judges’ room, with his arms at his back.
“General Aizawa!!!” Hachi says as he turns to the man.
“Address me as principal while we’re still in the school premises,” Aizawa replies with a smile.
Aizawa has a laid back countenance as one who takes things easy. His eyes are dark brown in colour and his hair, packed in a ponytail style, is of medium length. His fairly shaved beard connects with his side burns and he is seen with a thin smoking pipe in his mouth. He is wearing a brown hat, a long white kimono jacket, a large white shirt and a pair of large white trousers with black linings, just like a Japanese samurai. He is also wearing a pair of white boots and strapped to his waist, are two swords, one on each side.
“So what do you suggest we do, Mr. Principal?” Dinah asks.
“I’ll go down myself and try to talk things out with Goryu,” he answers and puffs.
“Good luck with that,” Saphix responds.
On getting to the fighting arena, Aizawa begins to feel a great gusty pressure.
“Oh no. He’s already about to attack,” Aizawa says, using his hand to stop his hat from flying off his head.
Goryu, facing Campione, clenches his fist and points it at Campione’s direction. The great atmospheric pressure swirls and comes together at the front of Goryu’s fist forming a small spiraling ball of air. Goryu powerfully punches the ball of air towards Campione, who is still holding Borro. Campione comes to a halt and slightly turns her head to see the incoming attack. Her captivating grey eyes give off a confident fierce glare as one unbothered by the approaching assault.
Suddenly, Echo Forge, King of The Central Plains, appears just some few metres close to Campione and takes a stance like a samurai ready to slash an opponent.
“Go,” he tells Campione as the ball of air approaches. Campione quickly dashes off at such high that it appears as if she vanished. Instantly, Echo Forge flicks the hilt of his sword a little thereby unsheathing just a tiny bit of the sword but a tremendous amount of energy in the form of a roaring bang is released.
BOOOMMM!!!
Echo’s release collides with the ball of air and creates an explosion of air which is sent upwards and swallowed by what seems to be a wingless dragon made of glowing white energy; it later dissipates into tiny particles and vanishes. The resounding noise of both Echo’s release and the explosion cause the entire school region to experience heavy vibrations.
“Good grief. If I had been late in releasing one of my swords, that blast could have caused casualties among the guests,” Aizawa comments and gives off a puff, standing at the top of the curved wall of the fighting arena, with one of his swords in his hands, unsheathed.
Goryu looks at Echo Forge and smiles a bit, “Echo Forge, will you be my opponent then? Let’s give this crowd a good fight to watch.”
Echo Forge takes some steps towards Goryu, “I have no intention of fighting you here however if you’d allow this Glory games to continue in peace, then once it is done, I’ll take you on, one on one.”
Goryu is silent for a moment and turns to leave. “Humph!!! That brat has ruined my mood. The time to fight is not but soon however,” he says, grins and returns back to his seat.
“What do you mean soon?” Echo Forge says within himself.
“Apologies for the interruption, once the stage is fixed, the matches will continue without any breaks,” Echo Forge announces and surprisingly, effortlessly his voice is loud enough for the great multitude of over a million to hear.
“Humph!!! Fools,” Draem says to himself and returns back to his seat as he slouches, bends his head, resting his chin on his fist.
“Phoenix was unusually quiet, seems like he’s lost in thoughts about something or could he also have picked up on this uneasy feeling I have also picked? This feeling… why do I feel something dangerously strange might occur? Maybe I’m just overthinking,” Draem thinks within himself.
At the judges’ room,
“Good job Campione,” Aizawa says complimenting Campione.
“But don’t go on provoking a freaking King, especially one like Goryu!!!” he adds with a tap on her head.
“Tch!!! I don’t see what the big deal is anyway,” she replies.
“We have laws here, King or not, he has to abide by them as long as he’s here,” she calmly adds.
“You’re just as stubborn as both your father and teacher,” Aizawa responds in his lazy manner of speech.
“Hmm! Well, I wouldn’t be here without them,” Campione replies with a light smile.
After some minutes, when the repairs have been completed, the commentators make the announcement for the next match, “We will now move to next round in this tournament, the quarter finals and after some deliberations, it has been decided that the style will be an actual battle royale. This means that all remaining participants will appear on the stage together and the matches will run continuously until there is one winner among the eight participants. So… Serena, Maka, Dubnet, Dayve, Damian, Teru, Tesla and Kevine will all be on stage and will fight until one winner emerges. Let the great battle royale begin!!!”
“Interesting,” Serena whispers with a smile on.
