《The Sister In The Forest(Cancelled)》23: Mind Control?

Following that day on, I and Lewis started bonding well together and I started seeing the odd personality side of Lewis who kept behaving weirdly for no apparent reason. Every time I'm around him, it always feels like his emotions don't connect with his words that, at first, sounded normal but when you pay enough attention to the actual phrase they'll sound wicked and distrustful; it made me wary around him, even when I'm wary at him, I'm still at fault with myself for thinking this way. Whenever Lia was by my side, what became a regular occurrence after she tried kissing me that day, Lewis froze up and always stuttered around Lia. At first, I thought it was Lewis being nervous around Lia because he still has a crush on her but every time I look at Lia for a split second, without fail, I always see unfamiliar cold, distant eyes that don't describe Lia at all. And her cold eyes were always focused on Lewis but before I could mention anything, Lewis always scrambled off like a guilty person.

I was resting my tensed up muscles that were combating the twitches all day from that school activity and my intense daily training under my tent to keep away from any more activities. George came in now and then to check up on me and Lia, who was glued to me all day, finding anything just to keep me attracted to what she was babbling about while listening to the radio sat under a dinner table we never used near the exit of the tent. The radio was going on about the weather and minor news around the world when it suddenly changed topics in the midst of proving flat earthers that the world is not, in fact, flat and is a sphere to illustrate something about Portuguese military helicopters.

"News just came in, civilians spotted Portuguese military helicopters stacked with armoured men that came out the helicopter with weird alien technology after landing on a military base in Northumbria. I wonder what this alien technology is all about?" The female voice reported, alien technology?

"Shit…!" Lia spurted out, receiving my interest as I watched her clamber around eagerly until she glinted at me with withering moistened eyes.

"Are you okay?" I sighed with inquisitiveness, just as I was about to end the question, Lia hooked me by the arm and hurled me over to her, she was breathing hideously, it all coursed out into a sullen dread as it described what she was feeling. Her face was deathlike and her pupils dilated, blanching her apricot eyes.

"You're in danger…" She rambled, darting her eyes everywhere, her palms grew clammy and it blotted my shoulders as more sweat became more evident that something was upsetting her to this length.

"What are you on about?"

"You, you are in danger! Why aren't you panicking at all? Do you not understand what is about to happen to you…?!"

"No, I sure don't. I have nothing to panic over…" I signed, second-guessing myself as I felt unnatural.

"Elemental powers, you have them...yellow...kill when threatened." Lia apprehensively traced herself. She, in a microsecond, glared right at me. Her sweating was getting worse, her face was generating seeping as the thick materials of sweat sprinkled down her cheeks and onto her dipped shoulders.

"Lia…?"

"You're going to die! These alien technologies are scanners, scanners that specifically scan humans to see if any of them are acquired supernaturally, and you. You possess every elemental kinetic power that is authorised to Yellow, you will be killed on sight because you've threatened the nation…!" Lia was dismayed. Not wanting her to freak out anymore, I flew my arms around her and made sure I cuddled her tightly.

I felt her heart thump worryingly, it thumped like a flash and she was struggling through a mental crisis. While I hugged her gently, I saw transformations from Lia as her panicking diminished down and the sweat that acted as a lake dried up automatically. I tucked my chin to look down at Lia and she was looking into my eyes affectionately. Her hands sprawled across my chest as she pushed all her weight on me to snuggle her forehead. Lia proceeded to calm down but dismissed me from having attempts at trying to pull her away. She slapped my hand away every time so she could stay in contact with me. Eventually, I gave up and gave her the consent to rest and probably sleep out her frightening episodes.

Four days ensued of Lia staying by my side when the Portuguese army along with the British army firmly headed to the camp to round everyone up. It all happened on the brink when everyone was sitting down, eating up their meals when military helicopters flew over the campsite, hovering as its engine growled, smothering the ground as its enormous force of wind restricted how the students, teachers and officers reacted to the problem. Portuguese soldiers and British soldiers slipped down the hook that swiftly landed on the ground attached to the helicopter, wielding their machine guns. They all took this very seriously and told everyone to stand in a straight line until a long tanned military truck followed by two armoured vehicles came into view, the truck turned in an odd angle and the two armoured trucks did the same, drawing a vision that they were creating a circle. About thirty soldiers were counted on the site and every single one held weapons, wearing heavily armoured suits that made them look like they came from the future as all their faces were covered up.

"There will be no questions or interruptions when I speak!" An old General wearing a British uniform stood up, he was of average height and had a wrinkled face that grew a short grey beard that was looked after. His arms were behind his back and he kept a cold look on his face as he eyed everyone, even eyeing me.

"For your information, I have been sent here with our trusted ally that has the equipment we need for this certain problem you are all facing! Everything will line up in a single file and walk behind the two vehicles to be scanned. It's for the safety of you and the nation!" The general proclaimed.

The students, teachers and officers obediently followed his order as the line went down a tunnel of on-guard soldiers, wafting over the trigger to the gun if anyone rebelled and might cause a problem. It was a lengthy line but I was lucky enough to be near the front and I watched people be directed through the two vehicles by two soldiers with a black curtain that covered the entrance and came back out again with armbands that had the common colour of pink after staying inside the isolated area for at least a minute.

Seven were left in front of me and a boy with blonde hair that looked slender walked inside, he was bright and was joking around. The quiet sound of beeping played out seconds after, then thuds were abruptly heard where a disheartening cry omitted out into the opening as more soldiers rushed in. I kept poking my head around to peek through the see-through lines that allowed me to see everything; from what I could get at, the boy that just went in was being detained on the ground and forced into handcuffs where he then was lifted into the truck that opened the sides of the truck to demonstrate its packed of cuffed students wired to a standing chair. It was a horrible sight to look at, the four students were arrested and were placed between coloured lines - most of the students were in blue but only one was in yellow.

Thereupon, Lia who stood right in front of me was called up. Two soldiers directed her through the curtain, letting me have another glance at the blocked off area. Lia waved me goodbye with an unaffected smile but I knew she was panicking from the inside. The beeping accordingly lingered over Lia as I heard it drive up and down, as the beeping ended, a long beep followed directly afterwards, which was overcome by shuffling noises until a whisper interrupted the shuffling. Right as I was starting to panic, the black curtain lifted open and sighted me at Lia who instantly smiled at me, waving her scrawny armband that was too big for her small arms.

"I'll help you, just give me a call by whistling," Lia whispered into my ears before strolling off, leaving me to be gawked at by two overshadowing Portuguese soldiers that soon directed me inside the private area. The truck was the first thing I stared at after rehearsing students being locked away, then I found myself looking at a short man wearing a scientist cloak, holding a stand that extended out a screen that had a mechanic blue for its background. I followed what the scientists said and stood right in front of him, trying my best to not be distracted by the pile of the same alien device stacking up in the right corner.

"Hello, my name is Professor Afonso, I will be in your care for a little bit while I scan you," Afonso asserted with a hard Portuguese accent, itching his tattered black goatee. He clicked on a button that was on the side of this screen that faced me, spelt out "Processing…", after that, Afonso drew the device down my body as the beeping rippled my ears and blinded me with a white font saying "Scanning".

My nerves were going everywhere, my lungs squeezed as my heart constantly chewed me away, sweat descended on my forehead and I felt a storm of heat wash me up. Afonso kept a straight face as he slowly scanned me, unaware of the state I'm in. When the device reached the bottom of my feet, Afonso pulled the device away and tucked the screen around that I had a short glance of and it barred the words red in rubescent words; to my horror, Afonso had a good read of what it said and his charmful smile that he put on dropped when he repeatedly tapped his pen from his pocket energetically. I followed his eyes and glanced at the two soldiers that stationed their guns and aimed them at me. They were about to fire and force me to activate super-speed when I felt myself turn cold and empty, I felt myself lose my sense and knew I was being taken over by that monster.

As they were about to pull the trigger, my hands, without my control, snatched Afonso's arm and pulled him right into my face. Something weird happened when Afonso turned to look at me, his stunned attitude became rested and exhausted as his vibrant eyes became lifeless.

"I'm pink. Your device just acted up and scanned me wrong," I muttered to his face with a robotic tone. Afonso was quiet throughout the whole thing and obediently watched me like a corpse before taking a look at his device, he typed in a code that fully hacked into the system and changed the red to pink.

"Ah, there we go. You're all good,"

The scientist caressed my shoulders and patted them afterwards as I came back to my senses. I flinched when I turned around thinking the two soldiers were about to shoot me but they stood still as unconscious souls morphed into a hunky puppet that listened to my commands. I was awkwardly dragged out of the secluded room with a pink armband, Lia and George waited outside and both hugged me down, Lia questioned me since I was assigned to pink and not yellow. It didn't stick to her that long because she was glad to have me in her company again.
