Sure enough as he stood behind the fox as it continued to walk. In a short while they came upon the mouth of a large tunnel that had seem to extend endlessly. The tip of the tunnel was slightly shorter then Arins height thus causing them to bend slightly to enter it.

The tunnel many different parts causing them to be branched making it a maze. yet the fox navigated through it with ease causing Arin to affirm that he had made the right choice. If he had journeyed on his own there would be no way he would find the safest way.

Now that Arin was in close proximity with the silver fox he got the chance to get a closer scrutiny of it. Although Arin was raised in one of the wealthy households of the Desert capital, he had his fair share of hunting experience. He had encountered wild desert foxes a few times.

Most of them had distinct personalities. Either they were small and cunning or large and viscous.

But the fox in front of him was clearly different. Its size was neither big nor small, and had a silver coat that shone under the light of his torch. Arin thought that if sold the silver coat would fetch a hefty price.

In terms of temperament it gave off a sharp and deadly aura. If one compared the large wild foxes to a brutal club then this fox would be considered a sharp sword.

While Arin was lost in his thoughts, the fox suddenly halted causing him to snap back to reality. He looked at the stationary figure of the fox and raised his torch to get e better look of his surroundings.

Arin gasped as he saw what lay around him. The tunnels that he had traversed through were rough and uneven as if created without any care. But his current location was no doubt the result of extreme precision and care.

huge stone walls extended around him with partially withered patterns on them. Attached to the walls were long rod like structures that extended towards the center, they seemed to be used hold candles.

In front of him was a mound that emerged from the ground, it had flat surface on top. Arin recognized this as an altar of sorts.

Arins gaze then landed what stood far behind of the altar. Eight large pillars extended till the roof, they were positioned to form a circle. Besides his torch there was no other source of light yet Arin felt the pillars in front of him were glowing mysteriously.

Drawn to the pillars Arin slowly moved forward. Close to each pillar were statue like figures of warriors that sat with their heads lowered. His sight wandered beyond the pillars and saw the faint figure of a person. All the darkness in the room seemed to be drawn towards this figure.

Mystified by all the structures around him Arin moved forward to take a closer look. At this point he had forgotten his original objectives and how a group of mages seen recently couldn't have built any of this. He examined the altar in front of him. Although the flow of time had almost entirely Arin could still recognize the altar as a sacrificial altar.

Subconsciously he extended his hand to touch it, but in that instant the fox that had stood still up till now moved in a blur. Its paws pushed it forward as it leapt and sank its fangs into Arins hand.

"Aaah" Arin let out a loud scream as the sharp teeth easily pierced his soft flesh and touched his bones. Instinctively he grabbed the fox with all his might and flung it away.

Blood emerged from his wound and trickled down his hand. Crimson colored droplets slowly covered the floor as Arin gritted his teeth and took out the remaining water he had to pour over his wound. Thanking himself for remembering this critical action he quickly tore a cloth to wrap around his wound.

Obviously during the short time he had followed the fox Arin had let his guard down. But before he could allow himself to deal with it he caught something out of the corner of his eyes.

The blood that and trickled down on the floor started to move !. Arin watched in shock as his blood droplets started to float towards the altar to converge into one entity. The next instant it shot forward like an arrow and entered into the midst of the pillars.

Within seconds a huge roar reverberated throughout the entire hall. The entire ground trembled as an ominous light started to shine through the eight pillars.

" Just what in the world have I done " A cold chill spread through Arins spine as he stared fearfully.
