《Clarent Saga: Chronicles》31. Shore to Ship (4)

‘That must have convinced you!’ Silvia said to Antonio. ‘Those monsters were tougher.’
‘Yes,’ said Antonio from his safe distance, ‘they were a little tougher, I’ll grant you. But no, I’m still not fully convinced. You folks have some clever tricks up your sleeve, I’ll grant you, but you haven’t shown me what you’re really made of yet. Let’s try just one more monster group, and then I’ll make my final decision.’
This time Olivia made a sort of growling noise of frustration, which Antonio must have been able to hear.
‘Stay patient, stay patient, granddaughter,’ said Primus.
Horatio puzzled at this odd role-reversal on Primus’ part. Before they had found Olivia he had been so impatient to keep up the pace and get to her as quickly as possible. Now he was the one making the calming and slowing comments, as Horatio himself had had to do before.
Then he realised why. Of course. Primus had been desperate to keep up the pace before they had found Olivia. What he really cared about was keeping his granddaughter safe. He probably didn’t mind if they spent the next few weeks running up and down the shore fighting low-level monsters, so long as Olivia was out of harm’s way. He probably wasn’t in a particular hurry to get them over to the Frozen Wastes and to find the Clarent Sword, where the Braxians might be headed too, and where there would likely only be more danger for Olivia and the rest of them.
‘Alright,’ Horatio said to Antonio. ‘One more monster group. But that’s all. Then you make your decision.’
‘Of course.’ Antonio grinned at him, then struck a match on his boot in order to light a pipe which he stuck in his mouth.
They picked their way across the beach looking for more monsters. Again monsters eluded them. The sun began to blend into the Western horizon, lending the sky and sea a beautiful orange glow amidst the silhouettes of the darkening dunes. It had almost set completely by the time they finally found one last collection of monsters, and charged into battle to appease Antonio.

A Bard's Song: Lore
When all the songs left in the world are hunted out of fear, You stand up high and sing out loud so everyone can hear. When all the people that you see have eyes to give you pain, You hold your tune and understand, A Bard's Song will Remain Magic is moulded in many ways, be it the intricate knowledge and study of the Wizards, the sworn pacts of the Warlocks, or the pious faith of the Clerics. These factors combine to make them one of the most universally enjoyed, yet at the same time, reviled people in history. LEUR: The Unsung Tales
In the kingdom of Zorhana, one adventuring team rises to the top as they come to terms with their pasts and uncover a plot to destroy all they hold dear. Together they'll learn to trust each other, to love each other, and grow strong enough to overcome any challenge. This is the tale of unsung heroes, filled with daring adventure and powerful bonds, vicious monsters and shining redemption. Come, sit, stay awhile and listen. This story contains violence, budding romance, friendships forged in fire, and fantastical racism. I'm writing this story using the fifth edition of Dungeons & Dragons, the legendary tabletop roleplaying game. I first began posting this story on my personal Facebook page and on Tumblr under the username "valoroflight". I only put a few chapters in before moving to Wattpad to finish posting the full story. Unfortunately, my story has begun showing up on NovelHD without my permission, so I am moving to RoyalRoad in an attempt to get away from that.

Deviant Rule
When their world changed, everyone began chasing the same thing. The emergence of an energy that could make you strong enough to take anything you wanted changed everyone. They blinded themselves to a part of the world's new truth. For them, the only truth was that the powerful would rule the weak. Alius was someone different from all of them. A deviation from the plan. It made him hated. His only question was why? Why did they think his path was wrong? Maybe... they were the ones who had made a mistake. (The warnings are mainly to give myself creative freedom in the future. While we're here, I would also like to warn you that there will be a decently chaotic release schedule. Add that to the first-time experience and you have a crappy story that might get better. Enjoy what you can!)
