Chapter 6: A Failure
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Ahh-"
Opening his eyes waking up in his bed, Vincent dreams of something he didn't want to remember.
The day, when he almost lost his family, and the day he died.
It was an unforgettable unfortunate thing that happened in his life.
Tak-
Tak-
Vincent was spaced out recalling his dream. A knock sounded as the door was getting knocked by someone he knew.
Vincent! Vincent! Are you already awake?"
"Yeah!"
Vincent responded absentmindedly recalling all the things he dreams of as he looks at the window.
The door of his room opened as Marie approached him and said.
"Is everything ok?"
Marie's face was etched with worry looking at Vincent's sluggish and unnatural face.
"I'm ok"
"Maybe you just tired out playing with the kids all day..."
"Yeah maybe"
Marie was worried at Vincent absentminded answers and said.
"I will tell the kids to not bother you too much."
"Wait," Vincent stops Marie as he grabs her hand and says with his usual smile.
"I'm fine now, I'm just thinking of something."
Marie was relieved, as she saw the usual smile of Vincent that she always saw, but got curious about what he was thinking.
"What are you thinking about?"
Vincent made a contemplating face to Marie as he got up the bed and said.
"I'm thinking of another story to tell..."
"You... worrying me for something like that... sigh~ anyway let's go down and eat."
"Yes! Yes! Ma'am"
Marie was further relieved as she heard the usual answer Vincent always game her.
They got out of the room as they walked down towards the Dining Hall where all the kids sat and together, they all ate their meals happily and satisfied with this simple and honest life they had.

Vincent looked around him and saw his new "family" and thought.
'No more moping around what's done is done let us just move on and pray for their safety.'
'I have a new family to protect and a new life to cherish.'
'New World To Experience...'
***
"Vincent! Kids! I'm off, and kids don't bother Vincent too much. He's a little off and tired this morning, because he didn't have a good story to tell you guys."
"Sigh~ why did you tell them. Marie"
"Hahaha! Will do Sister Marie"
"Yep! Yep!"
****
All 6 kids agreed as they played among themselves and only told if something they can't do or reach made Vincent sighed in exasperation.
"Hey! I'm okay don't ignore me..."
Vincent said that towards the playing kids.
***
It was almost lunchtime as Marie appeared that surprised Vincent and the kids.
"Marie! Did you get fired?"
"You! Idiot! I'm not something happen as the boss let all his workers have a day off"
"With this! You guys will not complain about Vincent crappy cooking"
"Yehey!"
"Yippee"
...
...
"Oy! My cooking is not that bad!"
Vincent said that as they all burst out laughing happy with this small conversation that nothing or had to laugh at and also laughing because they can all be together.
"Well anyway I'm off to cook and Vincent you buy some bread."
"Yes! Yes! Ma'am! Then... I'm off"
"Be careful!"
"Ok! I'll be careful"
...
...
To the Town Market...
Going to the usual town market, Vincent stops and looks towards a corner seeing a guy with a robe preaching some stuff.
He then walked closer as wanted to hear what the guy was talking about.
...
"Listen closely! The Walls were created with God's wisdom"
"The Walls are the work of God."

"Not one soul shall dare desecrate the walls!"
The robed guy was passionately saying this and waving his hand crazy about the god that created the walls.
***
He then bypassed the guy and went towards the usual Bread store purchasing 8 Soft Bread.
He didn't like the taste of this bread but living in this world for 10 years, Vincent adapted to its lifestyle
Walking towards his house Vincent heard the ringing sound of the bell.
He was curious about what's this commotion all about and walked towards the people who were watching something.
He then saw wings with 1 black and 1 white cross to each other...
The one that leads the parade is a blond hair guy looking down in guilt.
Vincent then proceeds to look at the back of them and saw many injured soldiers and after hearing the content of their conversation everything clicks in.
****
"Why are there so few of them?"
"A bunch of them were eaten"
"This is what you get for going outside the walls"
These groups of people called themselves the Survey Corps. The one that goes outside and slays Titans.?
***
"Moses! Moses!"
A middle-aged lady called loudly towards the Recon Corps looking around and searching for someone.
They stop as the Middle-Aged lady approaches them...
"My son... Moses... I can't find him"
The middle-aged lady then proceeds to grab the coat of one of the guys in front and ask.
"Where is my son?"
The two guys spoke to each other but the Content of it shocked the middle-aged lady that made her step back staring at the guy in front of her.
Then they give the middle-aged woman a wrapped piece of clothes that has some blood on it.
Then... the middle-aged woman unwraps it and the Content of it gives the lady quite a shock as she starts crying and drops the ground.
Well everyone will be shocked if only the arm of your son only you can see.
The middle-aged woman tightly hugs the arm as she cries and asks the guy in front of him.
"But... my son.... is useful, right?"
"He might not be a hero, but at least he died helping mankind fight, right?!"
And yelled the last part of it towards the guy in front of him.
"…."
Silence then the guy immediately said
"Of course..."
But stop and then continue...
"No..."
"During this mission, we... No, even after all of our missions."
The guy clenched his fist and said loudly.
"WE STILL HAVEN'T MADE ANY PROGRESS!"
"I'M A FAILURE!"
"I JUST GOTTEN SOLDIERS KILLED LEFT AND RIGHT!"
"AND WE HAVEN'T LEARNED ANYTHING USEFUL ABOUT THE TITANS!!!"
He yelled the last part of it, with tears streaking down on his face.

Necromancer's Resolve
Foster Locke's life wasn't the harshest it could have been. But it wasn't the easiest either. Despite losing the last of his family and having immense debt thrown on him, getting the chance to keep practicing Martial Arts pulled away, and having a completely messed up sleep-schedule, he usually tried his best to stay positive to the outside world. Of course, that wasn't always possible, especially not when he was staring into the glowing eyes of a man-eating creature he had never heard of before. The glowing message-box that accompanied it wasn't much better either. Not to mention the fact that he was suddenly in a dark forest instead of the train station. This isn't a story of great anguish, inescapable peril, or heroic world-saving. Rather, it's one of a young man trying to get by in a world that seems to try his best to kill him. I hope you enjoy the read. --- Cover Image temporary [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Get on a train. Head east. Get on a ship. Travel further east, in style. See some wonders of the world. Find what was lost. Find where home is. How hard is any of that?Well, for Jake Ranger, pretty damned hard. The world being a wild, crazy mess from a global altering event called the Shattering doesn’t help much. Nor does being a famous folk hero. That last one really sucks, because people always run up to famous heroes and beg them for help with all their problems. Then there are the actual outlaws and monsters. They don’t help much either. Mostly they just get in the way and make everything way worse. And in a world that is so screwed up decades after the Shattering, there is a lot of variety to both outlaw and monster. Then there are the more civilized, (read: sane), non-human folk, and good old humans as well. They all get along just spectacularly. Totally best friends, on every level, for life. Of course getting to the east coast is only half the battle. Once there, he must contend with the so-called “civilized people.” Then there’s the ship ride; pirates and sea monsters are a thing too, after all. Should have read the brochure. But when the chips are down, the bad guys are winning and the wild winds of chaos are blowing, it helps to have a fighter on your side. Even if he is a little wild. After all, that’s not really a problem. That’s what beautiful women and lots of gold is for. Proper motivation is always key to success. Welcome to a Steampunk, Wild West, Victorian era, Lovecraftian infested, fantasy, shoot ‘em up world. Complete with a slow build harem of badass beautiful women, crazy adventures, and fun, monstrous villains. Welcome to the world of Wild Steam. Do enjoy your stay.
