《Nightmare》Wrong desination

I look at my clothing and my surroundings. I am in some ancient knight armor. The black armor has engravings and weird symbols throughout it. The surroundings are a barren landscape with rolling dunes of sand. “What the hell? I wanted to see if I could find you Nightmare. Not live your life.”
“Subject 8. Why have you stopped training?” I turn around to see an older looking man. He looks to be in his late sixties. He is wearing black robes with silver rings surrounding the belt. He has white hair and gray eyes.
“Who are you? I am looking for..” I stop as he smiles slightly.
“Ah.. I see. This happens from time to time. What time are you from?”
“That doesn’t matter.” He smiles slowly walking to me. The landscape changes to my hometown and I change back to myself. He frowns looking confused.
“You aren’t my creation. What is the meaning of this?” I pause shocked.
“You created Nightmare.” He glares angrily as the town disappears. The room becomes a large metal place as a set of double doors slide up. He leaves the room as I see a large amount of people running around outside it. I hear him call for me.
“Are you coming or not.” He sounds angry and annoyed. I follow him and notice that we are in a large laboratory. I see fantastical machines and designs being worked on. “Stop looking at my things and follow me.” I follow him to what looks like to be his office. He has a large black marble desk and his office is mostly empty. He has a large window looking over his laboratory. He sits down and his body changes to a younger looking man. “Sit.” I sit down feeling a little out of place.
“.. So you created Nightmare?” He doesn’t answer me as he picks up a phone.
“Yes.. I want to speak to my brother.. TELL HIM IT’S IMPORTANT” He waits for a few minutes and throws the phone away angry. “Explain to me how this happened.”

“Um.. I really don’t know. He hasn’t told me how it happened. I think he died but..”
“Impossible. He can’t die. I made it where he couldn’t.”
“I don’t know anything really.. Um.. who are you exactly? He told me that he was created in a lab but..” He pause looking at for a moment. A smile spreads across his face.
“Oh.. I see what you did Nightmare.. You somehow did it.” He stands going over to his back wall. I look at him confused.
“Um.. what?” He pulls a secret panel and a weird looking lab appears.
“He won’t remember this..” He takes a vial of his own blood and puts in a gun. He points it at me. Before I can react, he shoots me in the chest. I cough as searing pain goes throughout my body. I fall over to the ground coughing.
“What.. did you.. do to me..” He smiles walking over to me.
“Whatever he does. This buys my ticket back. I don’t need you anymore. Nightmare. Come back to me.”
I gasp awake and realize that am handcuffed to the bed. I pull the handcuff off me standing up confused. A bandit walks in and points a gun at me. “Aren’t you a stron..” he stops as I punch him in the gut. He doubles over dropping his gun to the ground. I hear a semi-truck start up outside as I run down the stairs. I see the place completely trashed and see blood on the floor. I run outside as the semi and a few cars drive away. A few people look at me as they load up Wart in the remaining car. They pause looking at me.
“How the hell did he get out?” One of them point their guns at me. Time slows for a second as I rush the men. I easily knock them all out except for one. The one starts to run as I untie Wart. Wart gets up.

“They took Snake-Eyes, Liz, and Leonard.” He looks worried and runs to grab his motorcycle. I see the man running and I focus on him. For a second the world bends around me and I appear in front of him. He runs into me and falls down. He looks up at me terrified.
“How.. what..” I slowly grab my head in pain. Interesting. I shake my head and pick up the guy by his shirt.
“Tell me where they are going.” He frowns trying to break free from my grip. I feel anger build up inside of me. I drop him to the ground glaring at him. I notice Wolf appear next to me.
“They.. they.. are going north of here. You can’t miss it.” I kick him across the face knocking him out. I see Wart drive up to me. I hop on and speed away after them. He slowly stops after seeing the semi and trucks outside a large farmhouse down the road.
“How do you want to proceed?”
“Head first.” Wart drives his motorcycle straight to the farmhouse. I hop off going straight to the house. I see the door open up and I get shot with a shotgun. I stop as I feel my clothing get ripped off. He looks shocked as I kick him into a nearby wall. I hear a Liz scream down the hall. Something inside me snaps as I run to the room. I kick the door down and see Liz tied down the bed. A man is undressing her and he looks at me. Liz looks at me with tears in her eyes. I rush the man tackling him off the bed. I grab him by the throat. I throw him through the hall that leads to the outside. I go to Liz as she tries to untie her binds. I remove one as I get shot with another shotgun in the back. I shift uncomfortably as I turn to the man. He runs down the hall as I remove my cloak. I give it to Liz and rip the rest of my shirt off. I chase after the man that leads me into an ambush. A group of twenty or so men are in here. I see Wolf appear in the back of the room.
“None of you are leaving here alive.” The next ten minutes I slightly black out. I picture myself with Liz smiling together in a bed in the middle of nowhere. We live on a coast. I work the land and fish. She spends her days doing whatever she wants. However, I always keep her safe. I smile comes across my face as I come too. I look at the destruction I caused and the bodies. I quickly leave the house trying not to vomit. I shudder to think that I could do what I just did. Wolf follows behind me. I look at him as he looks sad for me. He disappears in a cloud of smoke. I see Wart carrying Eyes out of the house. I see Liz with them cloaked in my cloak. I slowly stand going to them. Eyes is out of it still as Wart places her on the motorcycle. I rush to Liz and hug her tight. “I am so sorry..” She looks at me confused for a second. I frown. “What’s wrong?”
“You’re different…” I pause for a second and hug her closer.
“No. I am still Zack.” We pack everything up and take one of their vehicles. Before leaving, I light the house on fire. I get in the van and drive away as Liz looks out the window.

The Nobles from their seats of power? Or the elusive Sorcerers who wield power untold? And what maggots crawl in this great creature, all trying to get a piece of its slowly decaying flesh. The gangs of the Underworld hidden in the shadows? The Bandits and Deserters hiding at the edges, ready to pounce on any weakness? Witches and Warlocks working their dark art? These are the merchants, the lifeblood of kingdoms, because what is the one thing above all else men crave. Is it Love? Power? Destruction? All these things can be acquired with one simple thing. Wealth. Wealth is the true power behind the world. Wealth can buy army’s, strangle kingdoms, and turn even the most devout man from his faith. He works not for profit but for some unseen goal, a prophesy aeons old. He comes and goes like a ghost, bringing with him hope and victory. All pray for his arrival to spare them from despair. But what about when he doesn’t show? What about the people he doesn’t save? For this man is no angel, no saint sent to save the masses. His goal was never to deliver hope. It merely isn’t time for their destruction yet. For nothing is eternal. And all things must end. But what comes after?
