《Demens》Earth, Life, Death I

A bonfire burns at night in the middle of nowhere. The wind made the tall grass in the steppes dance, making a rustling sound in the quiet night. A man sits by the fire, with the earth below and the sky above. The night sky gave off starlight that shone from afar as the dark clouds faded.

"Do you still remember who you are? What you meant to do?" a woman asked in the dark as she walked towards the bonfire near the man.

She was wearing tattered clothes. Her clothes were torn, almost leaving her naked on a cold night. She was almost skinny as if she hadn't eaten in days. Her long hair is light brown and straight. She smiled, but a large buffalo skull covered her entire head and face. Excluding the red lips.

As she approached the fire, her body became healthier. The man could not see the bones of the woman who initially looked like a starving person. The woman sat across from the man, watching him from the fire that separated them.

"No need to remind me. Of course, I remember," the man replied.

"Then I won't ask you any more questions. The things we've made. Your sin... ours. We're holes in the world."

"Which world?"

The woman just stared at the fire. He couldn't see her face, only her hair that slid from the back of the mask and her lips.

"Every world," she answered.

"Remind me again. You can go, and I have to wait? Why can't you take me away from this place? No need to wait long. Just snap your finger and that's it."

"Because you and your body are not yet together. We must wait for your spirit to return to the body."

"So, am I the body or the spirit?"

"You're both in this world, but not the other."

The man grumbled.

"And what if I don't save myself?"

The woman smirked behind her buffalo skull mask.

"Then... there is another way. Because you are not dead, but also not alive. Stuck in the middle of the road. Waiting for someone to pick you up. That is where this other person's role will help you."

"Who is this person?" he asked.

"Oh, you know him. But he doesn't know you."

The woman moved closer to the man, who looked displeased with her words. She picked up a handful of dust and looked at the fire.

"Don't worry. Because they're afraid of you, and him," as she threw away the dust and put out the fire. The darkness came back.
