《Project: Massacre》Chapter 7: Backstabber

Zayne had a unique ability to be able to make two clones at one time. This took lots of energy and focus. He had practiced for many hours, and he finally mastered the concept of cloning.
Matt and Zayne were stuck in the mountain where the hiding Gordites lived. There were many cameras on Pluto, and the police would be looking for Zayne after Vallard’s last report.
Zayne heard something in the distance. “What was that?” Zayne asked Matt.
“I don’t hear anything, besides, no one comes to this part of the Lairgate Mountains, anyway.”
Zayne calmed down and relaxed, and began to start his study on cloning animals. It was possible to clone animals, but it was a skill only people of royalty bloodline could accomplish. Zayne thought that he would try anyway.
He imagined a dog in his head, but nothing happened. He decided to give up for now, after all, he wasn’t royalty. There was a sound that kept getting closer, but no one else could hear it.
There was a crash coming from above them. “I hear it now…” Matt gulped. There was nowhere for them to escape, it was too late. They identified the sound of many people and a helicopter, but they didn’t know what exactly it was.
The trap door on top of the mountain had been opened. There definitely was no way for them to escape now, the main exit and entrance had been blocked.
“Lock the door!” Matt called to Zayne.
Zayne walked over to the door to lock it, to keep these mysterious people out. How could they even find them anyway?
Matt picked up a rug in the living room of his apartment and a trap door with a ladder underneath it appeared. Matt lived on the lowest floor, so it was possible for him to make an escape hole. He started climbing down the ladder to safety.

“Why do you have an escape route?” Zayne asked.
“I guess I am always running from the police.” Matt had made it to the bottom of the ladder which was about 5 feet long. It lead to an incomplete 2 by 6 foot hole.
“Can I come down?” asked Zayne.
“Absolutely not.”
“You’re kidding right?”
“Nope.” Matt quickly fixed the rug, and locked the trap door behind him. Zayne pulled on the trapdoor continuously, but it was bolted shut.
“Oh and I called the police and told them to come to this building,” called out Matt from underground.
Zayne was panicking. The police were closing in on him, and he could easily be found. He took the sharpest knife from Matt’s kitchen and he found a closet in Matt’s bedroom. He sat down in the bottom of the closet behind Matt’s clothes.
The police were stomping down the hallway, not afraid to make their presence known. Finally, he heard the door open in Matt’s apartment. Terror filled Zayne, and he just anticipated the moment when the police found him.
They kicked the door open and began to search the bedroom. Zayne could hear his heart pounding as he waiting for them to open the closet.
As the closet opened, Zayne had his knife ready. He tried to clone, but he was too scared to focus his energy. From plain sight, Zayne could not be seen in the closet, but one of the officers detected him, and Zayne took the knife and put it into whoever opened the closet doors...
