《The Royal Mates》Chapter Sixty-One: Serge

I had to move away from Zinniah to make a phone call back home. Zinniah was taking a nap right now, and I didn't want to bother her with me talking.
"Marco, how are things going?" I asked my second in command and he chuckled.
"Everythin' is goin' nice. The army is stronger than before, and we have grown in size." I heard his thick Italian accent through the phone.
"Thank you, I appreciate you taking over for a while while I am here in Russia."
"No problem, Serge. Anything for you. I can't wait to meet that little mate of yours. Heard she is quite young." Marco chuckled and I sighed.
"Yes, she obviously is much younger than I am. And that's not a bad thing."
"I also heard she almost killed you." I groaned.
"On accident. I thought she was rejecting me, she never did. So, in reality, that was my fault." Marco ticked his tongue a few times.
"Whateva ya say, boss." Marco chuckled again and we said our goodbyes before I hung up. I sighed and I crawled back into bed with Zinniah. I've been terrified since we agreed to let her fight in the war. I can't lose her. I have lost so much already. I stared at the ceiling from our bed and thought about what my game plan could possibly be. I know I won't have any of my powers when we go into the compound, but I can still do quite some damage due to being a vampire. I know that Marco and my troops won't fail me, but I also know that I need to get more vampires. I just didn't really know where to start. I know that I could find some people if I were to leave Russia, but I don't know how Zinniah would feel being away from Amorelli for a long period of time. I sighed and I felt Zinniah shift on the bed. I could hear her heartbeat and could tell that she was waking up. I pulled her closer to me and she smiled as she woke up. I kissed her head.

"Did you have a nice nap water lily?" I asked her and I heard her heart speed up.
"Yes, I did," She kissed my cheek and I smiled.
"So, I've been thinking," I paused and let her get situated before I started speaking again.
"About what?"
"Well, I know I should probably recruit more people for my troops. Which requires me leaving to find people to turn into vampires, or find recently turned vampires and get them to join me." I spoke and Zinniah sat up quickly.
"You're leaving?" Zinniah looked really upset and I nodded.
"Yes, but you have two options. You can either come with me back to France, or you can stay here with Amorelli and Mordikai. You don't have to go with me, but if you would rather not leave my side then you can come with me." Zinniah sighed in relief.
"I thought you didn't want me coming at first. Yes, I'd like to join you. I would rather not be alone with everything that is going on." I smiled and kissed her softly before she laid her head on my chest. I picked up my phone and called Marco again.
"Hey, Marco, I need the plane ready. Send it back to Russia, me and my mate are coming back to France for a period of time to gather more recruits."
"Right away boss," Marco hung up and I knew that the plane would be here in three and a half hours, four including getting the plane ready.
"Zinniah, do you want to spend time with Amorelli before we leave? I don't know how long we will be in France," She nodded and we started walking around to look for Amorelli. After about ten minutes of looking, we found her in the garden with Mordikai.

"Hey, everything okay?" Amorelli spoke up and I nodded.
"I have to go back to France for a while to recruit more people for the war. Zinniah wanted to go with me and I figured you guys would like to spend some time together before we left. The plane will be here in about four hours." I spoke and Amorelli looked sad.
"I understand that this will be the first time that you two will be separated for a long period of time, but we will only be there for a couple of weeks." I added and it didn't really help Amorelli's state. Even though Amorelli and Zinniah didn't spend every waking moment together, but they both lived in the palace, they could easily see the other whenever they wanted.
"And you said in four hours you're leaving?" Amorelli started to tear up and Zinniah did too.
"Yeah," I rubbed Zinniah's back and it was somewhat helping her calm down.
"You didn't want to stay?" Amorelli asked and Zinniah shook her head no.
"I would love to stay, but I also don't know how long I can stay separated from Serge. I don't want to get lonely by seeing you and Mordikai together." Zinniah stated and Amorelli nodded.
"I guess you're right. Will she be okay while in France?" Amorelli now directed her attention to me.
"Yes, she will be one hundred percent safe. She wont be leaving my home. During the day I will be recruiting and in the evenings I'll be with her. She will not be leaving the house at all whatsoever." Amorelli nodded and sighed in relief.
"That makes me feel a little bit better." Amorelli said before she turned around to Mordikai.
"I'm going to hang out with Zinniah for a while before she leaves. I'll see you in a couple of hours." They shared a kiss and the girls went off to do whatever they wanted. I looked at Mordikai and we decided to play some cards while the girls did whatever they had to do.
-Time Skip Four Hours Later-
I found out that Amorelli was helping Zinniah pack a bag or two for the trip while they were spending time together. I didn't really need to pack anything, as all of my belongings were in France. I found Zinniah in our bedroom and when she saw it was time to leave she got emotional. She finally said her goodbyes and we left for the plane that was waiting for us. We boarded and she sighed as we took off.
"Why don't you take a nap, cherry blossom. We won't be there for another three and a half hours." Zinniah nodded and laid down on one of the seats, as I stared out of the windows on the other side of the small plane.
Home, here I come.

A Universe of Bloody Evolution
The Void was never meant to be opened to the Multiverse. The horrors waiting inside it should have never seen the light. And yet, the biggest mistake in the history of creation led to the impossible. In an event later known as the Outbreak, gates appeared in the first Universe, and with them, the Void was free. For ages the Void destroyed universe after universe, spreading its power in every direction, leaving only death and pain behind. But before every Universe met its end, it still had a chance. A small part of the population that survived the initial Outbreak and was granted a mysterious System to help them fight against the dangers that came from the Void. They were the Multiverse's last hope even if they couldn't stop the collapse of their own world. And so the cycle continued until the 36th Outbreak came. Leo Hale, a young reporter from Wolford, was one of the lucky ones to survive when the majority of Earth's population turned into monsters straight out of nightmares. Thrust into a constant battle for his life, Leo was determined to push forward and find his remaining family. Even if it meant sacrificing what was left of his humanity. After all, you either adapt or die. Story of progression and evolution with my take at the post-apocalyptic genre. Unlike most monster evolution stories where the monster rushes to gain human form, here I plan to do something quite the opposite. After all, in a world where almost everything wants to kill you, being human can be hard. Warnings are here to give me the freedom to write whatever is necessary. This is my first original novel. Also English isn't my native language so any feedback is welcome. Remember that even if initially this story takes place on Earth, fictional places, streets, etc will appear. Release Schedule: Monday - Wednesday - Friday Average chapter length: 2000-2500 words (There might be exceptions as is the case with some of the first chapters - most of them are longer.)
