《The Royal Mates》Chapter Forty-Five

~Mordikai~
I've been waiting for this for years. It's my job now to protect her. The moon goddess puts herself in the body of a young girl to help maintain order within her children. I sighed and pinched the bridge of my nose in a new type of frustration. I still have to deal with that Warlock in the dungeon, then there's my pregnant mate, my pregnant mate's murderous father, Alana, and now the Moon Goddess inside of a child. Fan-fucking-tastic.
"Listen, Amorelli, we will worry about everything soon. Let's just take it one step at a time. Starting with that Warlock. But for now, we are going to enjoy the party, and just lay low about the moon goddess thing. Alright?" She nodded and we started to enjoy the party once again. We danced and partied and at midnight all the children went to bed. I pulled Diesel aside and whispered to him.
"Put guards around the Moon Goddess' bedroom. No one gets in or out unless it is me or Amorelli. Only that family as well as long as they don't try and take her away. Understand?" Diesel nodded and bowed before he walked away. I sighed as I rejoined Amorelli. She had moved to a corner to talk with my grandparents. I smiled and came up behind her and kissed her head.
"Hey, when do you wanna get out of here?" I sighed and thought about it for a moment.
"I mean, we could leave now if you'd like? It is after midnight and most of the people have left." She looked around and nodded.
"Yeah, we can leave in just a moment. I remember my mother wanted to talk to me for a minute, so let me talk to her and we will make our way out, okay?" Amorelli asked and I nodded as I kissed her head. Amorelli walked over to her mother and they started talking.

I went over toward my mother and smiled when she noticed me. She rubbed her arm and sighed and I could tell something was up.
"Mom, is everything okay?" She sighed and sat down. I sat down next to her and she looked like she was trying to figure out how to word everything.
"It's about your father, darling." I scoffed and crossed my arms.
"Oh, is he still pissy because I'm pregnant? Or is it worse because I'm having triplets?" My mother smiled. I could tell she genuinely was happy for me. I knew from right there I could trust her with my life.
"Well, yes he is but what I need to tell you has something to do with that," she paused and let out a breath. "Since your father tried to kill you, he has been taken from the throne and is being put on trial where he might: get sentenced to prison, sentenced to death, or he could be put on a watch if you were to forgive him for his heinous act. Hence why his apology while we were making our way down to the coronation was only half-hearted." My blood started to boil with anger. I clenched my fists and stood up.
"I would rather kill myself before I ever forgave him," I stated and I walked away from my mother. If I didn't I was sure to cause a bigger scene than was needed. I'd also possibly break something out of anger. Mordikai saw I was angry and tried talking but I hushed him before he even spoke.
"I'll tell you in our quarters," I mumbled and I knew from the look on his face that he wasn't to mess with me. We said goodnight to his grandparents and walked up to our room. When we got there, I sighed and sat on the bed.

"Amorelli? Do you wanna talk about what your mother told you now or later?" Mordikai was so kind and I gave him a small smile and rubbed my stomach. I sighed and told him what my mother told me. He even seemed infuriated as well.
"You're shitting me, right? That fucking -" A knock on the door cut him off and he growled.
"What?"
"It's just me, Alpha. May I come in? Or is this a bad time?" It was Diesel. Mordikai sighed and told him to enter. Diesel bows slightly toward us as he spoke.
"Your Majesties, I just wanted to know what the plan for tomorrow would be for the Warlock and for Miss Pierce?" Mordikai growled and rubbed his face.
"After breakfast, I will go to the dungeon and talk to the Warlock. As for Miss Pierce? I am not sure yet. She committed treason by insulting her Luna and trying to persuade me into leaving Amorelli. So I'm thinking about making her rouge. As for her minions that follow her around? I'll probably make them do everything around the packhouse for a while. To teach them a lesson that just because you were 'friends' with a person of high rank, doesn't mean that they can protect you from anything. And then hopefully after that, we can get a break from people trying to tear us apart. And kill us." Mordikai chuckled but I wasn't in the mood to laugh. I was still furious about what my father was trying to do. Did he think that after all he has done, I would forgive him? That I wouldn't want him to be reprimanded? As much as I want him to die, he is my mother's mate and I know it would kill her. I sighed and laid on my back. I kicked off my shoes and rubbed my face. Diesel was still in the room and when he noticed my physical state, he started to speak.
"Well, I will see you both tomorrow morning. Goodnight, your majesties." He bowed and then left. I sighed once again and looked toward Mordikai. He gave me a small smile and rubbed my stomach.
"Would you like a bath to calm down?" I only nodded. I didn't want to speak because I was afraid I would burst into anger. Mordikai started a bath for me and put bubbles in the tub. I walked into the bathroom and he was already undressed. I laughed through my nose and got undressed. I figured he would want to join me in the bath. Once the tub was full, he got in first and I got in front of him. Mordikai started to rub my back and help bathe me. I sighed and closed my eyes. I laid my hands over my stomach and rubbed small circles over my children. I smiled and grabbed Mordikai's hands so he could wrap his arms around me. Mordikai kissed my hair and let out a sigh. After a few minutes, we got out of the bath and got into bed after we got changed. Mordikai laid behind me and wrapped his arm around me.
"I know everything is stressful right now, but we'll get through it. I promise, love." Mordikai kissed my head again.
"I hope so."

Death By Protagonist
Donavan has made his living by wading through hundreds of stories in search of the quality few he and his firm believe to be worth publishing. After a strange twist of fate, he gets trapped inside the fantasy book of a particularly campy and amateur author. There he will have to navigate a world built on wish fulfillment, power fantasies, and fanservice in order to fix the story from the inside out if he ever wishes to leave. But can he bring himself to play the many roles necessary to manipulate and guide the characters to a satisfying conclusion? Authors Note: Death By Protagonist is meant to be simultaneously a satire of, and love letter to the isekai/portal fantasy genre. It both makes fun of and embraces many tropes of the genre such as harems, explicit sexual content, OP protagonists, and other things many people might think of as "trashy." If that doesn't sound like your thing, you've been warned, but I hope you'll give it a shot anyway. Update Schedule: Plan is to at least put out one new chapter every week, hopefully two.
