《The Royal Mates》Chapter Thirty-Six

~Amorelli~
I woke up and yawned. I could barely sleep all night. I kept tossing and turning because Alistair wasn't here to hold me. I sighed sadly and sat up. I had drained my room of water so I could sleep as a human. Maybe I should have slept in the water? I looked at the time and saw it was eight am. I walked up to my door and pressed the button to fill my room back up with water. Soon enough, my room had filled with water and I was a mermaid once again. I sighed and twirled under the water. I left my room and went to the dining hall and looked at my siblings. The boys looked tired, but Mariana looked excited. She was swimming around the boys really fast and they just looked annoyed.
"Mariana! Come on, we have to get breakfast." She humphed and sat in her seat. I giggled and sat next to her.
"Amorelli! You'll play with me right?" I giggled.
"After breakfast, I will. I'm hungry." A few people brought out the food and everyone was excited. They placed the food in front of us and we all started to eat. I was given Tuna. I tried it and it was actually really good. I finished my food and Mariana went out to her room to play. I looked at the time and saw it was eight-thirty. Maybe I should message Alistair that I am awake and well?
'No need for that princess.' I gasped and Mariana looked worried.
"What is it?" I froze and looked around her room. I have to think of something quick. I can't just explain to her that my mate startled me.
"Nothing! You just have a wonderful room! It's way better than mine." She giggled and twirled while she started to look for some of her toys.
'Alistair! You startled me!' I sent my laugh to him. It's a good thing that Mariana takes a while to look for toys.
′Sorry, my love. I didn't mean to. How did you sleep? ′ I sighed quietly.
'Not too good. Might need to take a nap with you once I come back up.'
'I didn't sleep well either. Do you need me to prepare something for you?'
'Like what?'
'Food, obviously I need to fill the tub, but would you like a bath?'
'Yes please!' I sent my giggle and I heard his laugh.
'Alright, I shall get started. I will see you soon my love." I felt my heart soar as he said that to me. I sighed happily and pointed my attention to Mariana, who had finally found something she wanted to play with.
"Let's play with these!" She had brought out two dolls. One for me and one for her.
"Of course, what game shall we play with these dolls?" We had started to play with her dolls and after a while, it had finally become lunchtime. She put her toys away and we went into the dining hall. As I entered, I stopped in my tracks as I remembered that I have to see Alistair.

"Mom, Dad, I'm actually going to go up to the house for lunch. Is that alright?" My mother smiled softly and my father had a glare.
"Daddy? What's wrong?" I grew nervous, and as he stood up and pressed his hand to my stomach. His hand lit up with a bright, golden light. I saw something very small in there. An egg.
"How long..."
"I beg your pardon?"
"How long have you been pregnant!" Everyone fled the room as my father grew into a rage. Pregnant? What does he mean?
"I don't know!"
"You're not even eighteen yet!" I got scared so I messaged Alistair.
"Alistair help me!" My father saw what I was doing and became even angrier.
"Don't you dare even ask for his help! You're not leaving here anymore!" He pushed water that made me hit the wall and cut my head open. I held my head as I tried not to fall to the floor, a cloud of blood surrounded me. I really hope I don't lose my baby to him. I grew angry and hissed at him. I looked at the guards and started to order them.
"Protect me and my child!" Their eyes grew black and they made a barrier around me.
"Amorelli? What is going on? I'm on my way with the boat, I'll be there in five." His reassurance didn't make me feel any better.
"You're hurt." I heard him grow angry.
"It's nothing. Just come to get me, and hurry." My brothers then came in and surrounded me as well.
"What's going on? Amorelli! What happened?"
"She's pregnant." Two of my three brothers grew stiff.
"Congratulations, Amorelli." Sebastian was the only supportive one.
"Thank you..." I started to fall towards the floor. The blood cloud around me only got darker. I grew tired and my eyes were closing.
"Amorelli! Don't you leave me! I'm here, please, come to the surface!" Alistair was mind linking me and I groaned and looked up at Sebastian.
"I'm so sorry..." He gave me a questioning look.
"Take me to the surface and give me to my mate. Now!" His eyes grew black and he picked me up and started to take me to the surface.
"Don't let them get away!" I heard guards coming, but the ones I had commanded were still protecting me. They then got into a fight. Sebastian was swimming as fast as he could to get me to the surface. I saw the outline of the boat. We were almost there when my father came out.
"You aren't going to see him again Amorelli. Not if I have anything to do with it." He rose his trident and it started to glow.
He was going to kill my mate.
"No!" I swam out of my brother's arms and blocked the blast from my mate. Sebastian had pulled me out of the way and when I looked at him, his eye color was back to normal.

"I'm not mad, let's just get you up there." He swam quickly and got me up to Alistair.
"Amorelli!" He grabbed me and looked at my brother.
"Take care of my sister. She has a wound on her head. Please, she can't die." He nodded and went back down to the trench. I groaned. So much for a little getaway. Alistair laid me down on a few towels and rested my head on a few more.
"Stay awake, okay?" I nodded. However, saying I would and actually doing so was very difficult. My father was right on our tail and I was debating on actually going home. Once Alistair finally started to go faster, my father gave up and went back under the surface. I sighed and called out to him.
"He's gone, Alistair." I groaned as we reached the shore a few minutes later. Alistair carefully carried me into the house and proceeded to rinse my wound. I was still exhausted from recent events, and I couldn't keep my eyes open for much longer.
"Alistair, I'm tired."
"I know my love. Just stay awake for a little bit longer." I nodded and winced.
"Okay, the bleeding stopped. I'm going to wrap your head, okay? Let's wash you off first though."
"Alistair?"
"Yes?"
"I wanna go home... And stay there..." He managed to get me dressed after he washed me off and I was completely human again. He gently put me down on the bed and kissed my head. He then got up to make a call to the jet.
"I don't like how these trips don't last long..." I mumbled before I let my eyes close.
"Amorelli?" He grew worried and I'm assuming called a doctor. I felt a sense of comfort run through me. I felt the presence of my growing baby.
Our baby.
I tried to open my eyes to tell Alistair, but they wouldn't open. Then darkness surrounded me, and I fell into a deep sleep.
~Alistair~
I grew nervous. I knew Amorelli fell into a coma. A hit that hard to the head, and that much blood loss... I felt the darkness consume her. I called an ambulance and stated who I was and requested a private room. They said they were on their way. I hung up and sighed. I stroked her head and felt another presence. I couldn't quite pinpoint it, but it was a calming one. I groaned and then sighed with relief when the gurney came in.
"She's already in a coma, I felt the darkness consume her. Please, help my mate."
"Right away your majesty." They took her away and I went into the ambulance with them. I held her hand as they started checking her out.
"Your majesty, she isn't going to die. However, she will be in the coma for at least a few days. She has suffered severe blunt force trauma. I see that you both are marked and mated, but not even the healing powers of an Alpha can heal her now." I felt a pang of sadness and anger. Her father has tried to kill her. That's the third time that she has almost died. Twice in one week.
'Mordikai, what should I do?'
'Let me have my body back, obviously.' I scoffed.
'No, about her father. I can't kill him, she'd never forgive me.'
'Let's just stay with her for as long as we can.' I nodded and shut him out. I sighed and held her hand. I kissed it softly and squeezed it as well. I can't believe I let this happen. I allowed her to go back down. But why did her father hurt her? I still felt something but I don't know what it is. It doesn't feel provocative, but it's just there. Calm as can be, but faint. I sighed and rubbed my face. I started to think about what I could do with her father.
~Lynus~
"I don't care however long it takes! You will make sure that she loses that baby, understand?" I was furious. She shouldn't be pregnant. She isn't eighteen yet. Her birthday isn't for at least another month or so. How could they let this happen?
"Lynus! How dare you!" Ariana was furious. But why at me?
"What do you want? You should be angry with them for not using protection!"
"You almost killed my daughter! And my grandbaby! How could you be so cruel?" She was crying now, and I could see the pain and fury in her eyes.
"I did what needed to be done. Hopefully, the baby dies because she isn't ready to have children yet. She still is one."
"What kind of monster am I married to?" She cried as she swam away. Then the boys came over to me.
"What the hell is wrong with you dad?" Sebastian seemed pissed at me. I looked at the other two and they looked nervous.
"Well, spit it out!" They flinched and Marcus spoke up.
"Yeah, we're upset she got pregnant but you tried to fucking kill her, she's our family. And you know what happens when a royal tries to or ends up killing a family member. You need to go to trial with the elders." He was also pissed at me. But he is right, no matter how much I wanted to kill the child, I couldn't. I would be killed. And now that I've almost killed my daughter, I could be killed for that as well.
"What have I done?" The elders then came out and guards surrounded me.
I'm going to be killed for what I've done...

When you have known nothing but distrust for those in power, what would you do to remain in control of your life? I will be uploading new chapters on Tuesday and Saturday each week at 4pm Mountain Standard Time. (The story has been described as X-men meets Narnia. Which while not entirely accurate, is still a fun way of looking at it.) (Note: As with my other stories, this one focuses more on the characters than on constant action. The Lite-LitRPG and Gamelit elements are introduced into the story gradually.) Author's Note: This is my raw, mostly unedited text. I am using RR to test out this story as I'm writing it to get a feel for how the published and edited copy will be received. Certain sections of the story will be changed or added to when I publish it as well. Sanguine
The Coles are probably the definition of a small dysfunctional family, even if they weren’t the worst in existence; they would probably be lauded as an example of the term. The Coles were a small family though. The father, Oliver Cole, was an asshole ex-football jock who bounced around in small paying jobs after wasting most of his life drinking, drugging and whoring. The daughter, Stacy Cole, was smart, but had many issues including anger, trouble with authority, and occasional suicidal thoughts, and was kicked out of many a school for disruptive behaviour. The son, Mike Cole, was innocent, and tried his best to be kind to anyone and everyone, however his own speech impediment, and slow nature only aided people to bully and belittle him, including his own father. The Coles were indeed a dysfunctional family. At least they were, until they got to the small town near the border between the United States and Canada, Sanguine. Welcome to Sanguine. You will stay. With the exception of the first chapter, each chapter only follows one character. The first chapter is the only chapter in which I will include 'Sides' where it follows a different character. This is a short Lovecraftian story, it won't go above seventeen chapters. Note: the book cover is my first attempt, it might not even remain like it is, I was just tired of seeing the standard 'no cover' thing on it.
