《A Degenerates Book for Survival》How I Met Vlad (part 1)
Yo, there’s one being that I would never challenge to a fight.
Compared to how strong I am now, I’d say he could whip my ass from Titania Y109P-247-99 to Kwelt VIIIX.
This dude is one of the few existences that I will say “I respect and appreciate you, so please don’t kill me” to. Without him being there for me in so many situations, I would not being writing this guide for you little Degenerates out there.
He was a destroyer, a creator, a nightmare and to some he was hope.
I first met him on my 1st assassination mission. I was hired to kill a warrior named არასასურველი ტკივილი. He was a warrior that lived by feeding off of the pain of of others. So, to feed himself for a while he decided to enslave a whole planet and force the people living on the planet to work in the most terrible conditions but he would heal them once in a while so he could keep feeding off their pain. That was information given by the requester but the organization I worked for had found out his ability.
I was ignorant at the time and I decided that I would destroy all of his slave camps. I couldn't have been anymore idiotic.
Think about it. A young Degenerate, that hadn't even awakened his abilities, wanted to fight a man that could enslave an entire race by himself. At the time, I was just fuming because I had thought that slavery was an unforgivable sin. I was an idiot.
The world is not black and white.
I had gotten to the planet and met up with the client. It was a fat man from the Fektronle race. I could tell from his garments that he was a noble of sorts and that he wasn’t from this planet.

The Fektronle are known for being the one of the most sly races to ever exist. At the time I didn’t know about the stories revolving around Fektronles.
The requester told me the details of the job:
1. Enter არასასურველი ტკივილი’s house
2. Make sure no workers were near while I was going to complete the job
3. Kill არასასურველი ტკივილი
4. Find a black chest
5. Bring the chest and the targets body to the client
6. Get off the planet
I accepted the conditions but I had asked the man if he wanted a map of the area but he had replied by throwing a hologram map at me.
It didn’t occur to me why the client had a map himself. If I had just thought on why he didn’t do it himself then I might not be here today. Sometimes ignorance can save your life.
I had spent the next week traveling to არასასურველი ტკივილი’s base. Most of the time, I was jotting down the local wild-life. Not many people know this but whenever an assassin is hired for a job, especially if there’s no completion due date, they just spend most of the time focusing on a hobby.
The distraction keeps the mind from wandering and it also helps to calm the mind before they kill someone.
As I travelled across the land, I had found myself walking through a forest.
About an hour later I had found a campsite by the side of the forest track. At the time, I thought it was a good idea to go over to it and check if there were any inhabitants.
If there were any, I would ask for some assistance on which way the closest town was. If there weren’t any, then I would steal what I could and run the opposite way from the closest water source.

After I had gotten closer to the campsite, I noticed the fire was still lit. That either means people are still here, people robbed this place and lit a fire to trap other travelers, this was a trap set by someone which means the mission was compromised, or it’s someone whos never travelled before. I had hoped it was the first option because it’s better to see your possible enemy than to not be able to know what your in.
I didn’t really think it was a good choice to get closer to the campsite but my body was telling me to push forward for some reason.
As I got closer to the campsite, my body started to feel like it was being sucked into a void and my brain was trying get off fucking planet. It was like when a creature sees the wings of a Wrelp butterfly. The body tells it to get closer so they can eat it but the brain knows that this situation is a absolute no go.
Now I’ll tell you now, the only difference between a Wrelp butterfly and what I was feeling was that you could survive an encounter against a Wrelp.
My body kept walking towards the campsite and my brain was just saying, “NO NO NO! Dude, I swear to god fucking, RUN!! Please, I don’t wanna die!!!!!!”
I was finally close enough to the campsite. I was close enough to the point of feeling the heat from the campfire. My body was stiff and my brain was thinking of every possible thing I could do to escape.
That’s when I finally noticed….him.
There was a man sitting by the fire. He was wearing robes that were similar to that of the organization called “ոչինչ”. I did not know what his clothing represented at that time but if I knew what I know now, I would be bowing before that man while pleading for a quick death.

Carus - Libertas
participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge and also having a go at NaNoWriMo this November. This was a first draft published as it was written for Nanowrimo November 2020. A little rough around the edges, I hope to come back and edit at some point, and then continue the story on. In the grand scheme of things Elias was nothing special. Which was why he was surprised by a random company on a new colony planet buying out his contract. That was the problem with the large companies that ruled the colonies, once they owned your contract, they owned you. Imagine the greater surprise when he learnt that the new company held the promise of freedom. Not from the constant battle against the Swarm that were also trying to claim the colony planets for their own. Nor from the Crust, the mysterious substance that covered the same planets and held the resources they all fought for. No, the freedom from being oppressed by those with more power and to finally decide where to go and where to set down roots and call home.

Waking up in a healthy and young body, and faced with an unfamiliar culture and even more inexplicable sights, Melissa had to adapt to her life new as Kalie, the third Princess of the Shattered Isles of Cerith. It didn't take long for Kalie to realize that even though she finds herself in a strange world, she may just be one of the strangest parts of it. As Kalie comes to terms with her bizarre new life, she finds herself set in the sights of the powerful new king of a far off land. Eventually finding herself taken away to be Caged within the Ravencourt. This story is world spanning, and slow to start. It's my intention to build up towards the epic story I'm hoping to tell. Don’t expect over the top powers, just smart characters using magic interestingly. And, like my other stories, the focus is on the characters themselves, less so the world they’re in. Enjoy!

He was finishing up his final semester of high school and preparing to go to college despite a nagging lack of excitement for his future. In the blink of an eye, his life is thrown into chaos when Zavier meets a young man from an alien world named Yafu. Yafu has accidentally been thrown to Earth via portal while chasing the dangerous Poison Fang cult on his world. These two boys quickly come into contact with Arigo, a mysterious and powerful defender of Earth from various interlopers from Yafu’s world, known as the Biterrain. When Arigo discovers that Zavier was used as an unknowing and seemingly impossible vessel for the Fang to try to invade Earth, Arigo decides to send the two boys, along with his faithful assistant Anenna, to the Biterrain for answers on Zavier’s anomalous condition. In this new and dangerous world, Zavier weighs his own feelings of personal inadequacy against the backdrop of his sudden and mysterious importance. Meanwhile Yafu struggles with the limits to his thirst for vengeance and ultimately his future without it. Finally, Anenna must begin to confront a new identity as the last parts of her old one abandon her. In the background of their journey is the mystery around the Immortal King, the mythic founder of the Biterrain’s dominant religion who allegedly disappeared to Earth many millennia ago. Despite the planet being central to the dogma around their messiah figure, Earth has been relegated to myth and conjecture by the general populace of the Biterrain due to their inability to validate its existence in the present time. How will Zavier navigate in a world where he holds its holy grail within his own identity and who can he really trust in a world of such contrived obliviousness?
