《Cross Roads: Rebranding Chaos (Book Four)》Chapter 17

Early that afternoon, Chloe decided to handle Natalia’s physical evaluation at the Interpol Facility. The logical choice was that they had more similar equipment at their disposal and away from more prying eyes trying to hinder the assessment. Chloe and her team conducted these assessments thoroughly. Natalia’s body was thick, well-toned, and quite muscular. She looked like she had zero body fat, which made the other females a little jealous.
Natalia started her series of Push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, and 700-kilogram bench press repetitions. All of them she had to do in 15 minutes. She was quite impressive doing 522 push-ups in 15 minutes, 327 sit-ups in 15 minutes, and done an impressive 183 bench press repetitions of 700 kilograms.
Afterward, she had to do a 5K run on a treadmill. She had to test her flexibility and mobility by doing a series of stretches and jumps. The complete evaluation was indeed exhausting, especially for somebody like Natalia. After they were all done with their assessments, Natalia slowly collapsed due to exhaustion. Lying flat on her back and sucking in as much air as she could in her lungs, her whole body felt like it was on fire. She believed in her heart; she passed the first evaluation.
After a 30-minute recess, then it was time to evaluate her nether energy. Her main powers are electrical manipulation, where she can channel electricity throughout her entire body or shoot lightning projections. As recorded, Chloe, in her team, wanted to know just how lethal they can be. They rigged up a test dummy to see just how devastating her lightning attacks can be and how she can readjust out to the field.
Between the test model and Natalia, it was at least 15 feet. That was plenty of room for the two. As Natalia held out her hand and pointed it at the dummy, she began to conjure electricity into her hand. Chloe and her team were ready to record her lightning projectile, but something was amiss. Natalia didn’t shoot the test dummy.

Her hand started to tremble as her arm began to feel heavy. Her heart began to race as her eyes began to water. This overwhelming of dread and sorrow crept up, and the flashbacks started to come back to her. That time where she shot a lightning blast recklessly at the bomb that killed and severely injured many people. Including herself.
Snapping out of it, she fired the lightning blast at the test dummy and missing it entirely. She wasn’t surprised as it was just a practice shot. She loosened herself up again as she once again began to conjure electricity into her hand.
Again, her hand started to tremble and or arm began to feel even more oppressive. Her heart started racing even faster. Gritting her teeth, trying to accomplish just the simplest of tasks of throwing a single lightning blast at a dummy, she couldn’t do it as she missed the target again.
Frantically, she charged her attack as she began to conjure electricity in both hands and started throwing barrages of lightning attacks at the test dummy. Out of the 17 lightning projectiles, none of them hit the target. Fed up with her aim, she walked up towards the model and punched its head off. Afterward, she stormed out of the room.
“I guess we can record that,” Chloe bantered while she was in the other room seeing the events through the one-way glass.
After she had regained her composure, it was time for the psych exam. Natalia got herself dressed in a fitness jumpsuit, patiently waiting for anyone to come into the room. The room itself was well furnished and even had a window view of the courtyard.

Dungeon Core? Nah, I Think I'll Just Get Super-Wealthy Instead
The cycle is simple enough. A Dungeon Core is born from a wayward soul. It seeks power and agency, and works to accumulate wealth to fuel its power, in turn using this power to accumulate further wealth. Inevitably, the mind is lost as desperation and ambition drive it to commit darker and darker acts. Shortly thereafter, the adventurers arrive to quell the core. This is a tale that has repeated itself countless times throughout history: all cores desire power. And yet, this core seems to have it backwards. It doesn't want to rule the world. It has no desire to enslave or conquer. No, this core doesn't want to be a warlord, a villain, or a tyrant. It wants to start a core-poration. After all, when money is power, what greater weapon is there than capitalism? Join a dungeon core that wastes an absurd amount of time and effort trying not to be evil on his journey to earn fat stacks against all odds. -This is a 'Dungeon Core' type fiction with LitRPG elements in it. The start may be fairly slow compared to the average. Expect roughly 2.5k per chapter. -I'm only a hobbyist writer. As such, there may be the occasional error and pacing may be poorly-handled. Constructive criticism is alway welcome. I'm just here to write stuff that makes my brain release the g o o d c h e m i c a l s. -I am trashy and I like monsterpeople so you can expect an awful lot of those as we get further in. Thank you for reading this far, and I hope you enjoy.
