《adVerse Wishes》Chapter Sixteen: The Aftermath

I woke up out of my crazy daze in my bed, it was morning in South Carolina. I rushed down the stairs. Would Grandpa be there? Sure enough there he was. I hugged him quickly.
“What is the big greeting about?” he yawned. Did he remember? I knew he knew once he winked. Still confused by what happened, and in need of company, I ran to Marylyn’s. Sure enough, she opened the door. Another reunion with hugs and smiles. She hurried me to her room.
“What happened?” I asked, “Do you know?”
Marylyn answered quickly, “Everyone who died from Death’s history was changed, and they either died of old age, or they are still alive. The rest of the world doesn’t know though except us, and the souls.”
“How did you find this out?” I asked.
“Computer,” she answered, “I looked some of the soul's names to make sure they were ok. I wasn’t the only soul in Death’s body, and I know this is weird, but I made some friends. Patricia and Izach are hilarious! They both died of old age, so I figured their history was changed, just like me. Happy to be alive.”
I chuckled, “I am happy you are alive too, Marylyn!”
“Oh,” Marylyn said sympathetically, “I am sorry I was so angry. I was just scared, and worried, but still, that is no reason to take that out on you. I love you, and I am so happy everything is ok.”
I smiled, “Me too, I am sorry I dragged you into this mess.”
We wrapped our arms around each other for a long time, and I wish it could have lasted longer, but I wanted to get back to the house to see Grandpa. Funny to think just a day ago I would have never thought I would see Grandpa or Marylyn ever again. Walking home I realized my life would never be the same, in obvious reasons like Grandpa returning and not having to worry about the piano anymore. But also, in other ways like I have more confidence now, and I like it. After yesterday I realized I was capable of doing things I had never believed I could, that some people thought were impossible, that others failed at, yet, I succeeded. This made me see that I could do anything I set my mind to. I had another realization (after getting so close to death and Death) what a blessing the world is. Like how beautiful it is, and how wonderful life is. Without it I wouldn’t have Grandpa or Marylyn; actually I wouldn’t be alive without my parents so without them I wouldn’t have me either. I told myself coming into this new beginning I would make every moment as precious as the last so I would die with a happy life behind me.

The Legend of Rayola the Deathless [Dead]
[This story is Discontinued] Another story based on the lore, which has been expanded and with far more details and hopefully better writing shall be released later on. After about the tenth time she died, Rayola started to think, that maybe she didn't come out quite right, even by supernatural standards. Of course, the pale white skin and hair, plus the blazing orange eyes might have been a clue and it was getting harder and harder to blend in. To top it all off, she has no memory of who she is and there's an incredibly suspiscious, snarky voice in her head making quips about her life choices. Even worse was the inability to sleep. At first, she thought that maybe she was just an overly messed up zombie or even a vampire! But she was proven wrong time and time agian... there were too many inconsistencies and it made her uneasy. The final straw was the issue with her own identity. At first she was okay with being her own brand-new person, but as more and more ghosts of her past started to slowly catch up, she had no choice but to set off on a journey... A journey to discover who she once was, and to find out what had happened to her. It was for no noble cause but merely one for personal salvation. Yet, her actions left behind a legend in her wake.

8 157Sod's Law (Dropped)
This fiction has been dropped, you're more than welcome to read it anyway (there is sort of an ending). But you have been warned... Sod's law is a more extreme version of Murphy's law. While Murphy's law says that anything that can go wrong, will go wrong (eventually), Sod's law requires that it always goes wrong with the worst possible outcome. For example, concepts such as "bad fortune will be tailored to the individual" and "good fortune will occur in spite of the individual's actions" are sometimes given as examples of Sod's law in action. This would broaden Sod's law to a general sense of being "mocked by fate". In these aspects it is similar to some definitions of irony, particularly the irony of fate. - Definitions of Sod's Law on Wikipedia. The protagonist, as many before them, and many who followed, thought they were just entering a VRMMORPG (Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing-Game). Unbeknownst to them however, was a short paragraph in the Terms & Conditions, that, upon agreement, would actually transport them to a fantasy world, loosely based on the game they thought they were entering. - Something anyone could be forgiven for, no-one reads them after all. In this new world, they discover that people are born with “Traits”, a System recognised, ability, skill, or talent, that they are born with. Sod's Law was not a trait they, or anyone else for that matter, would want. Pure madness follows. Yup, this is about a character transferred to a fantasy game-world with the worst luck imaginable. This is my first fiction so I apologise for any grammar and spelling mistakes that may be made. Hopefully it is readable, and if so please tell me! But if it's not, also tell me, but in a constructive way if at all possible? Due to the nature of the “Trait” the story will be dark in places, with plenty of gore and profanity, hence the tags. There may also be scenes of a sexual nature, but nothing full on – sorry guys but you'll have to go elsewhere for that.
8 114Adventure Home
Seeking is what defines adventurers. Some seek glory, some treasure and levels, others a place where they belong. When they cannot find it elsewhere, they journey south to the frontier. To the towns that keep the relentless shifting wilderness of the high-magic zone at bay. In one particular destination, an uncannily familiar elf behind the reception counter may greet new arrivals. She’s got a [Reassuring Smile], but will kindly ask you to leave if you misbehave. And the local adventurers will help you outside lest she employ her other Skills. LGBTQ themes in a fantasy-ish low litRPG setting. That means yes levels, classes, and skills; no experience, health, or status screens.
