《My Enemy Saviour》Chapter 7: The culprit(2)

The officer pulled a file from a pile of files near to him.
"So shall we begin with your interrogation miss prime suspect?"
My eyes widen as soon as the words hit me. I smiled awkwardly at him while questioning "S-Sir I don't quite understand what you-"
He burst out into unexpectedly wicked laughter that left me baffled, revising my sentence in the head I just said.
"Don't worry, there's no evidence against it yet, also I was just joking back there- the expression on your face was completely comical though- haha"
He continued laughing hysterically. A dimple appeared below his twinkling eyes.
Another dorky one here. I'm not sure if this is the right situation to joke around.
Meanwhile, I noticed a sudden fierce glare on us as I peeked sideways to know who it was. A deep and stern voice commanded
"Stop fooling around and get back to work Kim Namjoon" the officer Kim Namjoon concluded his laughter as he replied
"Ahh, I'm sorry chief. But this one never gets old" he pursed his lips sustaining his laughter in. He brushed his light brown hair back with his hand and held the papers in his hands firmly. His hazel eyes were fixated on the papers
"Ok, miss Kang let's start this time for real, my very first question is very obvious- when did you last meet Kim SeokJin?"
"I met him 2 days ago at the xxx cafe near my house sir"
"Time?"
"Around 10 or 10:30 at night I guess?"
"Are you aware of his emotional status or any family conflicts, considering the two brothers rented separate apartments"
Does he want to close the case by labeling it as a suicide?
"The reason behind them living separately is- SeokJin always teased his brother Kim Tae-Hyung that he couldn't live a second without his Hyung and that he's still a baby. He got a little overboard with his teasing so Taehyung ended up renting a house for himself, he alone pays the rent currently"
"Hm, is Mr. Kim Taehyung conscious again? We need to hurry and get his statement so..."
"Yes sir I think he gained consciousness this morning"
"Oh good, moving on- anything else that bothered him recently?"
I gulped as the image of worried Jin flashed in my mind.
He wouldn't suicide for that, would he?
"Nothing sir not to my knowledge?"

I was able to lie with a straight face because he looked busy reading something from the paper. After a while, he continued his questions this time making direct eye contact with me.
"The next day of the day you last met him, you were found unconscious at the abandoned building, so any explanation for that"
"Sir I don't clearly remember anything. Though it's just my assumption I think that I was kidnapped and it looked like Tae-Hyung saved me"
Raising his eyebrows he explained in a slightly mocking tone.
"Well your assumptions couldn't be taken as a claim without concrete evidence and hence it's invalid for us. Meaning? T-r-a-s-h"
I didn't pay much mind to the officer's words as I continued my neutral expression.
"Any injuries on your head, did the kidnappers hit you on the head since you don't seem to remember anything?" He scoffed.
He thinks for sure that I'm hiding something.
"I think I may have sir but reports didn't say anything, I'm perfectly fine"
I lied again
I then noticed him peering at me.
"Aha-" he yelled, snapping his fingers. It was a reaction of a person who just cracked a mystery case.
He stood up as he pulled out his other hand from his pocket for a handshake. I shook his hands in response.
"Thank you for your time miss. We may often call you from now on, please be sure to pick up your calls and don't worry we'll find your friend"
He gave me a gentle smile, the tiny dimple playing at the corner of his mouth while exiting.
Getting up from my seat I heard him getting praised by his senior at a distance. I didn't hear it clearly. Besides, it was about time I leave. I felt a vibration from my clutch purse. It was a message notification from my teacher.
Your assignments need to be relevant to the topic assigned. You may submit it again within the next three days- what! The assignment required thorough research which took me one month! Redoing it is not a problem for me but 3 days!- this is just too much.
Shoving my phone back in my clutch I rushed towards the exit.
Ugh, I can take care of this later.
~~~~~~~
While glancing at my phone and then back to the view from the window seat of the bus I took for home, I decided to make a call.
"Oh hey Julia, how's it going?"
"Girl, you won't believe me if I tell you"
"Girl, you won't believe me if I tell you what a rollercoaster I been through"
"Oh, you sound depressed Eunaya, what happened? All good with SeokJin?"
"No, actually he's the problem"
"What did he do now?- I'll meet him on Monday and smack his ass in from of the whole school you just wait-"
"No Juli, he's missing"
"A-Are you for real? How?"
I narrated the whole story to my best friend Julia, also asked her to stay with me for the time being until things get better. I was scared by the fact alone that I got kidnapped and yet I don't remember anything. The news of Jin going missing just makes the situation too complicated. Moreover, I shouldn't underestimate that officer's line.
-shall we begin with the interrogation miss prime suspect?
They could be suspecting me. At this rate even I'm doubtful of myself.
Shit, why don't I remember anything?
As soon as I attempted to recall the memories of that night, the electric sensation in my head started again causing my forehead to wrinkle. I pressed my fingers against my forehead to relieve the pain. It was almost as if my brain was rejecting to recall any memories every single time I tried to, it only resulted in enormous pain with zero clues.
I took a deep breath while I kept the thought of recalling aside for the moment.
~~~~~~~~
Stuffing myself with the snacks I had on me, I was waiting for Julia who was to arrive around the time. It was raining cats and dogs, the loud thunder came in like hell's drum rolls saying "the perfect time for execution of the sinners". It was so intimidating it almost made me choke on my snack twice.
The bell of my apartment rang as I rushed and peeked through the safe hole. It was Juli. I opened the door at lightning speed.
Julia was smiling at me while soaking wet from head to toe. Helping her with the suitcase I welcomed her in.
I placed a towel on her head from behind.
"Why didn't you carry an umbrella, you dummy?"
I slapped her head while drying her hair with a towel, I continued to nag her "I'm gonna kill you if you catch a cold"
"Relax girl, if it happens I'm taking you down with me, let's get sick together and skip school together" she hugged me tightly causing my anger to melt away. The mood of the house totally changed as soon as Juli entered the house.
~~~~
Around midnight, my eyes were heavy and tired but I still couldn't bring myself to sleep as I kept thinking about the recent events. I stared at the dreamy moonlight from the window that lit the irresistible face of Juli sleeping beside me soundly.
I was headed towards the kitchen to get some water. Only a second later I heard a sound of breaking glass.
CRAAASSSSHHHHH-
I darted to my bedroom.
I spotted some shattered pieces of the glass window spread around the room and also beside Juli who was out of the bed. A strong wind blew in causing the curtains to flutter loudly.
Juli just stood there staring the starry night from the broken window, her expression was blank like that of a dead person's. She is a very jolly girl and wouldn't pay too much attention to her surrounding as she was a girl who wouldn't easily get fascinated by sparkling stuff. To think she will be observing the stars so carefully was straight-up absurd. I scanned the room very carefully before approaching her.
I shook her shoulders and tried to bring her back to reality.
"Hey Juli, what happened here? Did someone broke in?" I asked in a concerned tone.
Julia faced me maintaining the indifferent expression. She yelled in a different language I couldn't understand.
"ㄚㄖㄩ 丨爪卩ㄖㄒ乇幾ㄒ 千ㄖㄖㄥ!"
I let go of her shoulders slowly and took a few steps back as I continued to ask her
"Juli are you okay?"
"ㄚㄖㄩ 丨爪卩ㄖㄒ乇幾ㄒ 千ㄖㄖㄥ!" She yelled even louder this time.
"I-I don't understand" I gave her a puzzled look while hiding my fright.
Her winter grey eyes turned into crimson, glowing as it glared at me.
I clutched the table's edge behind me and leaned slightly backward.
M-M-Make it stops. G-God please make it Stop
I couldn't move a muscle as I stood there scared stiff.
"You should be avenging in the name of your family, you are such a disgrace to our family name"
His reign is over, and now comes an epic of The Thirteen Knights, who sent the death sentence to the Emperor. Who are they? And above all, what they have lost to become such a symbol? Blood. Love.
