As tears welled up in her eyes and rolled down her cheeks, Xu Zijin raised her head in shock and disbelief, her heart beating violently.

They were kissing and cuddling in the ward.

Xu Zijin had no idea of how that happened. Fu Chen kissed her so gently and piously that she couldn't refuse him at all.

He cupped her face and kissed her tears away with pure adoration, like a devout follower devoting himself to his goddess.

The kiss lasted for a long time. Finally, Fu Chen let go of her and sat back in his chair. "Sweet dreams, Zijin. I will stay here."

Xu Zijin buried herself in the quilt, her heart beating fast and wild.

"You can lie on the bed and sleep..." Xu Zijin suddenly paused as she realized it was improper to invite a man to sleep on the same bed with her. So she hurriedly explained, "It's cold... And the bed is big enough... I don't mean that..."

Xu Zijin stopped speaking and felt a sense of chagrin. She seemed to make things worse.

Fu Chen held his breath. Just as Xu Zijin searched her mind for some words to explain her real meaning, he suddenly lifted the quilt and got into bed.

Xu Zijin stiffened for a few seconds. The man lying next to her was like a glowing centre of warmth attracting her close to him. She slowly crept into his arms, rested her head against his shoulder and closed her eyes.

The night was pressing up against the windows. The wind howled and the rain poured down in torrents. Fu Chen and Xu Zijin hugged each other in bed as if to merge into an organic whole.

Suddenly, a loud thunder cracked in the sky, "Boom..."

The sleeping man abruptly opened his eyes, with a puzzled look on his handsome face.

When he lowered his head, he saw the woman snuggling up to him and sleeping soundly. The confusion vanished from his face and his eyes were filled with shadow.

Outside the hospital.

Su Xiyu leaned against the door of his black Bentley and lit up a cigarette, as he waited for his friend. The wind blew away the smoke. He was lost in thought and his eyes were like bottomless brown pools.

Suddenly, he heard the sound of footsteps. Su Xiyu raised his head and saw a tall figure coming toward him from the hospital gate.

Su Xiyu snuffed out the cigarette he was smoking and said, "Fu..."

He thought that the man was Fu Chen, but when he met the man's eyes, he realized something was wrong. Su Xiyu frowned and asked in a tentative tone, "Sinian?"

The dim street light illuminated the man's face, pale and morbid. He kept a straight face, as his eyebrows knitted and his eyes were full of insidious feelings. Obviously, he was Fu Sinian at this moment.

"Get in the bus!"

A harsh voice broke the silence of the night. If Xu Zijin was here, she would recognize him as soon as she heard his voice. He was Fu Chen, the man she trusted most now.

Fu Sinian opened the door and got in the car. Su Xiyu sighed and sat on the driver's seat.

When they arrived at the Golden Beach Villa, they saw Mu Anan sitting on the couch in the living room. At the sight of Fu Sinian, she stood up with a smile and walked towards him.

"Sinian, you're back!"

"Who permitted you to come here?" he asked in a cold, hard voice.

Mu Anan froze, as her smile vanished. She looked at him and asked tentatively, "What happened to you, Sinian? You look tired." With that she reached out a hand to take his arm.

Fu Sinian shook her hand off with a cold expression on his face and said, "Don't come to my villa again."

Aggrieved, Mu Anan bit her lips and wanted to say something. But before she could open her mouth to speak, Fu Sinian turned around and went upstairs.

Mu Anan watched his back disappear at the end of the stairs, as the grievance of being given the cold shoulder overwhelmed her. She clenched her fists so hard that her fingernails were digging into her palms. The physical pain slowly turned into a sharp mental pain. In her heart, the accumulation of anger, jealousy and resentment gradually emerged, even diluting her affection for Fu Sinian.

'Xu Zijin! It's all your fault,' she thought to herself.

Su Xiyu followed Fu Sinian up the stairs into the main bedroom. As expected, he was in the bathroom.

Fu Sinian stood naked under the shower. The cold water flowed through his whole body, washing every inch of his skin. The scar on his chest could be seen clearly in the lamplight.

Su Xiyu withdrew silently.

An hour later, Fu Sinian came out of the bathroom. He wore a cold and distant look, which made him look like a snow mountain standing high and dominant in the arctic. The temperatures in the room seemed to drop suddenly.
