Xu Zijin hugged the picture tight to her chest and burst into loud sobs with excitement.

The nurse couldn’t help but furrow her brow and soothed, “Mrs. Xu, please calm down. Crying will do harm to your unborn child. Where is your husband? You have to be hospitalized and we need to talk to him.”

Xu Zijin turned pale in an instant. She grasped the nurse's hand tightly and begged in a panic, “No! Please! Please don't contact him!”

The nurse looked at Xu Zijin with a puzzled expression.

“Don't contact him. He has nothing to do with this unborn child.” Although Xu Zijin didn't know how her unborn child survived from that operation, she knew clearly that Fu Sinian didn't allow this child to be born into this world. So, she couldn't let him know of the existence of this unborn child.

“He has a new lover. We... We are divorced,” she explained.

With this unborn child she had the courage to carry on living. She buried all the pain and suffering deep inside her mind and began to think about what to do next.

Xu Zijin knew that if Fu Sinian was told that she didn't have an abortion, he would take her to the hospital and force her to abort their child. So, after the funeral, she packed up her things and went to the airport.

She sat in the airport lounge, restless, afraid that Fu Sinian would suddenly appear and capture her.

When she heard the boarding call, she breathed a sigh of relief, dragged her luggage in one hand, her free hand holding her passport and passenger ticket, and lined up to wait for the security check.

However, she didn't expect that...

“I'm sorry, lady, but I have to tell you that you are barred from leaving the country.”

“What?!” Xu Zijin was stunned. “Are you sure? Why am I barred from leaving the country?”

“Sorry, I don't know. You can check with the department concerned. Next in line...”

Xu Zijin went to the department concerned of the airport and ask why she was barred from leaving the country but the airport officials knew nothing about the reason too.

Soon the plane took off and disappeared in the sky. Xu Zijin's uneasiness deepened.

‘Maybe I should leave the airport first,’ she thought.

When she turned around, she saw Fu Sinian. She was so frightened that she threw her luggage on the ground, turned around and tried to run away. But soon Fu Sinian caught up with her, gripped her arm and drew her into the Nursery Room.

He slammed the door and locked it behind.

Then he pinned Xu Zijin against the cold wall. She struggled to get free but couldn't move.

“Let me go! Fu Sinian, what do you want to do?” she shouted.

“How dare you!” Fu Sinian narrowed his eyes, his handsome face covered with anger. “How dare you attempt to escape?”

Overwhelmed with panic, Xu Zijin subconsciously covered her abdomen tightly with her hands and tried her best to keep herself calm and composed, and then she looked at the man with watchful eyes. “What do you want?”

“Tell me where you want to escape to.”

Xu Zijin desperately pushed him aside and crouched in the corner, her eyes full of stubbornness. “I want to go to a place without you.”

‘A place without me?!’

With an ominous look flashing in his eyes, Fu Sinian stared at her with a cold expression on his face. His gaze was like a stab into her hearts and she turned pale, trembling as if the temperatures in the room dropped suddenly.

Then he sneered, as his lips curled into a sarcastic arc, “What a pity that you failed to run away from me! Xu Zijin, since you missed the flight, I'm afraid that you will never have a chance to escape again.”

Xu Zijin's breathing paused momentarily, as pain in her chest was too strong to bear. She bit her lips and tried her best to conceal her feelings, but her efforts were unsuccessful as she couldn't help but pour out all her grievances, “Fu Sinian, what else do you want from me? My father is dead. Aunt Liu is also dead. My family has been completely ruined by you. Do you want to continue hurting me? Haven't you had enough?”

Xu Zijin collapsed onto the ground, depleted of all her strength. She had loved the man for so many years and deluded herself that he would fall in love with her one day. But facts proved that it was a sheer daydreaming. Fu Sinian would never love her. As a result of her stubbornness and foolishness, her father and stepmother were dead.
