《Strongest Sorcerer: Realm Beyond Recall》Chapter 7: Barely Passing

A lot of people started to gather around the Knight Apprentice testing grounds ever since the 10-year-old blue-haired boy insulted the Red Knight "Tomato-looking-soldier".
Most of the people were there to watch how this blue-haired boy will die while others were wondering who gave the kid the courage to insult the overseer. The Red Knight was incensed while the king felt pleased with the sight of this young boy. He was finally able to return a slap without doing anything.
"Why… this little punk…" the Red Knight Bodu gritted his teeth in anger.
"Relax… chill out, Sir Bodu. He is just a junior from the countryside. You don't need to take him seriously." The king said to Bodu. "Okay everyone, continue with the test."
As the king gave the order, the examiners continued to receive the applicants in their respective testing areas. A few hours later, it was Gin's turn to take the test.
"Okay kid. In order for you to pass as an apprentice, you'll have pass 4 out of 5 tests. The 1st one is the traditional strength test. You have to use your physical strength against this power scale. You have to score average points of 250 to receive a passing mark." The examiner said.
"Oh cool! I've always wanted to try this strength thingy." Gin happily went in front of the power scale when suddenly a loud sound resonated from one of the strength testing areas.
"Wow, isn't that boy from the Isenburg family?"
"Yeah, he is. Just 10 years old and he can reach 380 points on the power scale."
On a neighboring testing area, a handsome boy punched his 2nd and 3rd tries with 385 and 399 points respectively. The people around him were in awe. He was Rick Isenburg, the 2nd young master of the Isenburg family, one of the 3 major families in Heart Kingdom.

The most common number of points that a person below the age of 15 can attain is around 250 to 280. Individuals with innate abilities can reach up to 350 points. It was rare to see a 10-year-old to reach beyond 390 points.
But this rare occurrence was superimposed by someone from another family. Another 10-year-old boy from the Stella family punched 3 times consecutively and had 400 points on each punch. He broke Rick Isenburg's 390 point record and overwhelmed him with higher average points.
Rick Isenburg clicked his tongue as he looked at the boy from the Stella family. On the other hand, Uden Stella grinned arrogantly at Rick Isenburg as he won their little competition.
The Heart Royal Family, Isenburg Family, and the Stella Family are the 3 major families in Heart Kingdom. These 3 families are always in competition on who was the stronger lineage. Whoever gets to have the strongest young generation will take the sit as Royal Family of Heart Kingdom.
It's also amazing how the 3 families never waged in war with each other and only fight in friendly competitions.
2 years ago, both Isenburg and Stella Families were mopped on the ground by the Royal Family when Alice Heart returned from training. As a Rank 3 Copper Mortal Arts Practitioner, she made a record of 700 points as an 11-year-old. This was 200 points higher than what the strongest 15-year-old can do. Starting that day, the Silver Sword Knight Academy even posted prize money to those below 15 years old who can break Alice Heart's record in the traditional strength test will receive 1000 silver coins which were equivalent to 1 gold coin.
"Alright! My turn to shine! Here comes my money!"
Gin raised his hand and slapped the power scale and a sharp sound resonated around the testing area. It sounded like someone slapping a fat belly.
It took the people's attention and when they saw that it was the blue-haired boy that did the sound, they were amazed until they saw the points. The points that were projected by the power scale shocked them.

"75? Am I seeing things? Is it actually 75?"
"Uhhh… I might be hallucinating… 75… even 5-year-olds can do that right?"
"I thought he was something… insulting the Red Knight like that…"
"Hahahahahahaha!!! He's actually trash! Wahahahahah!" Red Knight Bodu laughed while the king beside him frowned.
The examiner overseeing Gin shook his head and sighed. 'He's actually so weak… To think that he stood here so proudly before…'
Unfazed by the mocks around him, Gin smiled and grinned as he raised his arm again. This time, he rotated his hand and formed a chopping stance.
As he gathered his energy, the examiner beside him was astounded. He just realized that the earlier slap, no… it was more like a slight tap… contained no mana. Meaning it was done without exerting bodily energy. Only natural gravitational energy was used. But won't that hurt his hand instead?
Gin now swung his hand performing a chop action, just like hand-chopping a friend's head.
250!
The mocking crowd suddenly turned silent.
The examiner's eyes stared at Gin as he felt bewildered of what had happened.
75 points on the 1st hit and got 250 points on the 2nd hit. Wasn't the difference a little large? From a failing point to a passing point.
Before the examiner could record the 2nd hit, Gin once again raised his hand and formed a fist. Then his hand fell and hit the power scale. What happened next stunned everyone looking. Even Rick Isenburg and Uden Stella widened their eyes on the projected score. A casual hammering of his hand caused a huge change in the score.
"Am I imagining things?"
"How did that little boy do that?"
"425 points… the difference between his 1st hit and 3rd hit is huge. It's just like a cripple suddenly turned into a prodigy…"
As the others were busy discussing, Gin moved his fist and moved into a punching position. As he was about to release his fist, the examiner interjected.
"Hey, Kid! Your strength test is over. You only get to have 3 tries. You get an average score of 250 points. You barely passed. Here's your Strength badge, representing your pass in this test. Now move to the other testing area." The examiner explained.
"What? Wait… I haven't surpassed the previous record yet. How am I supposed to get the prize money?" Gin nervously asked.
"Tough luck kid, you only get 3 tries to receive the prize money. Your highest score so far is 425… although it's the highest this year for now… it's still far from the current highest in the record." The examiner said.
"But… but… I haven't tried anything yet…" Gin tried to plead the examiner to give him just 1 more chance to hit the power scale as he will use all power he had, but the man only shooed and pointed him to the direction of the next text.
Feeling aggrieved, Gin reluctantly left the strength testing site and went to the Mana testing site.
He looked sad on the outside but sadder on the inside. He was crying in his heart thinking about the 1000 silver coins. It was already in his palms but still failed to grasp it.
"It's really him!"
Far away on the observation platform entrance, a pretty crimson-haired girl and a petite beautiful brown-haired girl stood, eyeing Gin in excitement.
It's been 2 years since they got separated and this junior brother of theirs who had crippled mana veins is now able to score 425 points on the strength test.

Tur Briste
A Druid cultivation novel. Borrows concepts from Wuxia and Xianxia but using Druid myth and lore. More on this at the bottom. Crow is son of Maddox, a Druid with an ancient bloodline and a people with a story spanning toward the beginning of time. Cursed, unfated, and a heap of bad luck have brought him only pain and suffering, but nothing will stop him. Nothing can stop him. A son of Maddox doesn’t bow his head. A son of Maddox understands that only a man with roots, with something to lose, will fight until the last drop of blood leaves his body. The Draoidh were once a proud people. They were both respected and hated for their form of righteousness. Power wasn’t something they gained through the might of their arms, but through intelligence. Their fall was all the more disheartening for the weaker cultivators. The tens of thousands of years that followed… chaos reigned. They forced Draoidh until most fled to the lower realms, nearly wiped out and exhausted. They went into hiding and became known as the Druids of the Oak. The Druid Order wasn’t the powerhouse it had been, and only nine of the major clans survived the calamity. Their bloodline weakened, as well as their prestige. Even the remaining clans fought amongst each other. Already on the decline and near extinguished, the Maddox clan can only struggle for survival, but their foundation wasn’t a joke. Weakened, but not weak. The other clans will understand this difference soon enough. Tur Briste, the Shattered Tower, awaits Crow’s ascension. Reaching the upper realms is only the first step in reestablishing the Draoidh. The Druids of the Oak remembered every betrayal and grievance, and they’ll return to power and reclaim what once belonged to them. The upper realms may have forgotten, but the Druid Order has not. Please Note:1) This is harem story. There are only a few chapters with sex, and it’s not a focus of the story. I’ll only add graphic sex if I feel the story needs it, so not gratuitously. Either way, Crow has several women. This is in line with Druid/Celtic history, and harems/reverse harems were an accepted part of their culture. Further, they had open marriages, meaning the man or woman could end their marriage at any time. While it was still a patriarchy, women had almost equal power. They were a very progressive culture. 2) There is a period of a 30-50 chapters where Crow loses the ability to cultivate like a Druid so he adopts an eastern body cultivation method for a while. This is temporary, but some people feel it’s misleading, so I am pointing it out ahead of time. I promise, the Druid stuff comes back, and 90% of the lore/myths/creatures/gods are all related to Druid/Celt/Irish/Scottish history. 3) I use many original names, most of which are in Gaelic or Irish. In the story, I refer to this language as Ancient. I enjoy all kinds of folklore and myths, so I encourage you to google those original names as they arrive. I give some background on them at the end of the chapter in my author’s note. 4) I use Ogham runes a lot, these are like the Druid alphabet, and they based each rune on a sacred tree so they also have symbolism associated with them. Again, feel free to google that too. It’s pretty neat stuff. Quick Translations:Draoidh = DruidTur Briste = Shattered Tower or Broken Tower Release Schedule:As of Oct 1, 2021- 3 chapters released every Sunday (May have up to two bonus chapters)- Side character chapters… this might be bonus chapters I release through the week. So they won’t count toward the 3 chapters on Sunday.- Please understand I work full time, have two kids, and can’t spare as much time as I’d like toward my writing. Maybe in the future I can switch to doing this full time, but for now 3 chapters is a comfortable pace for me. Lastly… I very much appreciate all my readers and thank you for allowing me to entertain you!

A Titan's Crusade
Erik Thayne spent most of his life being brutally ridiculed and tormented for his weight and physical appearance, among other things. A social pariah and diagnosed with an eating disorder no one has an explanation or treatment for, Erik spent years trying to overcome his issues with his personal image and escape the ridicule and vicious torment of his peers. After years of dedicated effort, and a fresh start in a town away from his childhood and adolescent tormentors, he had finally begun to truly realize what he'd been striving for all along. Only, fate apparently has other plans because in the blink of an eye, Erik found himself snatched from Earth and taken to another universe, another world, where he is offered the chance to be more than he'd ever imagined. Now, he has to fight to restore the Balance between Chaos and Order on a world of swords and magic, in a universe governed by the System's laws, which resemble those of RPGs from Earth. Erik learned to embrace the things about himself that others taught him to hate, using them to reforge his physical identity into something more removed from his old self-loathing. But can he learn to embrace the darkest parts of his mind just as he did the reviled aspects of his body and become who he needs to be to succeed in the task set before him? It might just prove easier to stalk in the dark as a monster than to walk in the light as a man... *This is my first time publishing anything I've written to a public audience. Due to formatting issues, I forwent traditional stat-screens for something a little less problematic, delineating stat screens by separating them from regular text with horizontal lines in a lighter-grey coloration. Let me know if you like them or not. Criticism is entirely welcome, but please don't hate on my work after only reading 1 chapter. This is a writing project I intend to complete but I have committment problems so we'll see how long this goes on. Also, fair warning, as the description implies, the main protagonist is intended to be someone who has been treated cruelly, developed antisocial tendencies, and ultimately has to question his own humanity--or lack thereof. This story is not intended to be brutally dark but I will definitely be trying to follow a darker theme. It is intended to be violent and some scenes later in the story might be...alarming. There will likely also be some light, non-graphic (think more implied with crude jokes and conversation than actual details, there will be no full-blown sex scenes)relationship scenes planned later and if you're opposed to either a bisexual or gay main character, stay away. I haven't yet decided which way he's going to swing but the odds on him being straight are relatively miniscule, and I've always wanted to write a story about a gay man who basically looks like a lumberjack because who doesn't like giving conventional stereo-types the middle finger? This will NOT be a harem story, and I have no intention to focus on romance over action--it's a consequence of character development where I'm concerned, not the be-all-end-all of the story. The cover-art does not, in any way, belong to me. It was an image titled the Druid King (by duskanmarkovic according to the file name) which I found on Google Images. Until I can get something commissioned, this is the best stand-in image I could find.

Makemake
"Makemake—a planet that is found in the far edges of the system known as Sol—was once a metropolis, like all of the other planets that populate the system. Now, like all of the others, it lies as a Sleeping City, forever dormant. No one lives there anymore—it has been vacant for years. In one of the massive cities that used to have a population that was in high numbers a sound could be heard. A distant sound. A beep, or a call, a message—whatever it was, it was an electronic noise. It echoed through the dust cloud filled landscape. The sound went on for a long time. It sat in a sea of quiet; no other noise rolled over the hills and bounced off the ground—only that noise. Only that beep."
