《Quiet Tales of a Forgotten Reaper》Interlude Part I

Ahh..Suspense. I hope you enjoy it as I am going to take a slight detour now that we are nearing the end. Would you like to know what I was up to during this story? Yes, good. No, Too bad. Now you might wonder where I enter into this story. Well to be honest I didn’t know myself until I found her. That day, the day I walked through the door, was the day of Senna’s birth. Still following? I showed up way earlier than I needed to. But enough with this hype talk, let's get onto the good stuff.
The night had only just begun the second time I walked through the door, and my walk got me to the city before the dawn. The lights from the city were so bright I was able to see the colors all around me from over a mile away. The amount of light stunned me as I had never seen anything so bright other than the sun itself.
At the City shortly before dawn.
Walking into the city I found out what was creating the horrendously bright light. Each person had a light shining from their entire body. The light was a light yellow color similar to the sun, though despite the brightness I was still able to see their likeness through it. As I began to draw near someone who looked to be a guard I waved my hand in the air and said. “Sir. Sir. Why do you and all the people in this city glow like the sun?” The guard acted like he hadn’t seen or heard me. Had I not spoken loud enough? Raising my voice I spoke again. “Can you hear me? Am I not speaking loud enough?” Again the guard ignored me. Why couldn’t he hear me? None of the information that was filtering through my head said that these people would be deaf.

I decided that if I couldn’t speak to him I would have to get his attention some other way. Going up to him I attempted to tap him on the back with my finger. White light erupted in my vision blinding me. What felt like hours passed before I was able to see again. The guard was gone and the sun had risen slightly in the west. (Yep the west. This word spins opposite to your planet.) Clearly touching him had been a mistake. Should I try it again? No. It took far too long to come back from that. Still how am I supposed to talk to these people? How am I going to find a single person in this giant city if I can’t communicate.
Looking around I was able to get a bit more detail from the buildings in the sunlight as if it diluted the light coming from the people in some way. The main street that seemed to run straight through the city was in front of me and the amount of people passing by had begun to increase as I stood there. Oddly there seemed to be people who didn’t glow walking amongst them. Why didn’t those people glow? Were there two races of people in this city? Should I try to talk to one of them? Waving my hands again trying to attract their attention I yelled. “Hey you, the person that isn’t glowing. Why aren’t you glowing?” To my surprise the person nearest me who didn’t glow stopped and turned towards me and began to speak. “I’m a warden. If you can see me then you must be one of us. Though I didn’t know that someone had passed on. If you want to know what’s going on follow me and don’t fall behind.” With that he turned back towards where he had been heading and continued walking.
He heard me, and he spoke to me. Better not fall behind. Moving quickly I hurried to catch up to him careful not to touch any of the glowing ones. The man moved very quickly through the crowds. First a left then a right then a few more turns then he was gone. Where did he go? As I turned my head back and forth searching for him I saw nothing but the glowing ones. Where am I? All those alleys and side roads looked the same. “Now what?” I said quietly to myself. “You follow me into this building”. The voice from earlier said from above me. Looking up I saw the man waving at me to come into the building. Circling the building I found the door and walked inside. The main entrance the building was a hall with a short hall leading to a staircase. Walking down the hall I passed two open doors leading to small rooms filled with furniture and plants each having a window.

Going up the stairs I found the man who had been guiding me. “Welcome to the headquarters.” The man said with a grand voice. “Headquarters of what? You said you would explain once we got here.” I said slightly confused. The man moved to my side and guided me towards one of the doors on this floor. “Ah I see a persistent one are we? Well then let me show you to a seat and tell you what I know.” He said mockingly. As we passed through the door I saw something I had never thought possible. This room was massive. There was no end to it in any direction except through the door behind me. “Well don’t just stand there drooling.” The man said to me. My mouth had fallen open at the sight it seemed. “How?” I said stupidly. The man slapped me on the back and pushed me forward making me walk. “It doesn’t matter you won’t ever reach the end. I’ve tried it just gets bigger and bigger.” He said laughing a bit. “I think I need that seat you told me about.” I said.
With no warning he pushed me. Putting my hands out in front of me I closed my eyes waiting for the smash. Then I was sinking into something soft. Upon opening my eyes I became aware of the couch I had landed on. Why did people have to make me fall into things? First the floor, then the hall and now this. Turning myself around I grunted out. “What was that for? Did you really need to push me?” The man was on the ground laughing. “Haha...You should have….haha...seen your face...haha” Putting on a blank face I stared angrily at him. It took the man several minutes to finish laughing at me. When he finished laughing he finally noticed my less than amused face. Sitting up he said. “Why are you so serious? You do know that you’re dead right? At least try and have some fun now that all is said and done.” I continued sitting there with the blank stare. “Fine, fine you wanted me to give you answers I will give you some.” He said finally giving up on getting me to laugh. “Where would you like to start?”
Sorry it took so long to post another chapter and that it is slightly short. As you can switch I decided to switch back to bob as I really didnt plan far enough ahead with senna and am essentially stuck. (writers blick me thinks it's called. Foolish mortal) Anyway i am going to try to get back into a rhythm of writing. Thank you for reading.
Sincerely, The Author

Those That Do Not Yet Exist
These are not full stories. They are tales that have not yet occurred, whose timelines and events are not yet set in stone. The story of a shape-shifting alien, exploring rural Earth. The incident involving an artificial hero. A strange valley of water and a great tree. These are stories that are yet to come. Who knows where they may lead? These are test chapters, if you will. Pilot episodes to determine the reaction people have to them. Have fun!
