《Revival of the Force》Chapter 8- Fortuna

On the Myrioi Osprey, Rey breathes in deeply, then meditates. She feels her fingers moving by themselves, and locates the coordinates of the planet. The screen says the planet’s name is Fortuna. Rey lands on the planet, and all around her is wheat-like grass taller than any tree she’s ever seen. Beyond that are giant glass stones. But unlike in her vision, in which the planet was shrouded in darkness, it seems to be in an eternal afternoon bliss. Just when Rey and BB-8 go off the ship, a droid in the darkness of the ship powers up. It sounds like R2-D2.
Rey journeys through the planet, seeing many ruins around her. There are dangerous creatures, and she’s able to fend them off with her lightsaber, but it keeps on malfunctioning, due to its previous break. After wandering around for hours, she’s lost. But then, she remembers a cryptic story in the Jedi books, and flips to it: she suddenly realizes that using it, she can find what she’s looking for.
This story is actually about events similar to the Force disruptions she’s seen, and hints that to stop them, one of the tasks she must complement is a crafting ritual. She tries to do it, but fails. Frustrated, she gives up immediately. She then remembers that there is another story in the book that is reminiscent of Fortuna, and starts to decipher it. She follows her guesses to find a red lake far away- the only source of water on the planet she’s seen so far.
She realizes to find the answers she seeks, she has to swim into the lake and dip her lightsaber in at a certain spot. She tells BB-8, “Time to test those swimming skills that Unkar taught me.” BB-8 whirls in confusion and question. Rey responds, “Well, he didn’t really teach me. He would throw me in one of the few pools in the city so I could steal some mechanical parts used to power the pool. I’m surprised I didn’t just drown.” BB-8 stays outside.

Rey swims into the red lake, and thrusts the lightsaber into a certain location (not at the bottom, as it’s too deep). She hears a distorted collections of voices, all in unity, begin to speak to her. They are unraveling a sort of poem, and though bewildered, she listens to it very carefully:
[Rey hears three zen-like poems, as if they half of something]
As she is trying to take it all in, suddenly, everything becomes pitch black, and dark clouds surround her like a horde of sea monsters. Fearful, and hearing awful cries, she quickly tries to resurface, but forgets her lightsaber. When she does, she’s not where she was before, even though she resurfaced in the same spot. All around her is darkness. She can’t see anything. She looks around, confused, and suddenly something grabs her leg and pulls her back into the lake.
The lake begins to grow darker and darker. As Rey is dragged more inwards, she sees dark outlines of two tall humanoid figures. They are whispering to each other, as if in a panic. Rey calls out to them, and all the dark outlines abrutly stop talking and stare at her at once. She can’t see any faces. She can hear, “Can she see us?”
Then, two much taller dark outlines walk in front of these two figures. They are sauntering, and are more confident, not panicking. She can hear the echoes, “Do not panic; trust us.” Whatever is dragging Rey has now released her, and she is floating.
The voices appear to talk to her. They say: “We are only doing this to help you. There is a terrible danger nearby, and we cannot risk you falling in with the wrong side. Do not let your powers be taken away.”
Fearing this prospect, Rey panics and tries to push these outlines with her hand using the Force, but nothing happens, and her body feels like it’s moving in slow molasses, like in a nightmare. The two figures say in unison, “All you have to do was trust us...”. Their words echo on and on.

From below, the ghostly monster restrains her again. Instead of pulling her down, it’s grabbing onto her. The voices say, “The Force is leaving you. We are the only ones who can help you get it back...” Rey starts screaming “NO” but in the dark water, her screams are muffled.
Suddenly, Rey feels her restraints being loosened, and the monster cries in agony. Finally released, she quickly swims up to safety. She’s back in darkness, but it’s quickly being removed, and it reveals where she originally was. In front of her is a hooded figure that’s using powers to remove the darkness surrounding her.
“Who are you?” she asks.
The figure takes off its hood and reveals that it’s Luke Skywalker. Rey can’t believe it- how could Luke still be alive?

The Stars Have Eyes
The universe was a vast, empty, dark, and uncaring place. Then life happened, and the universe was changed forever. Only a teeny-tiny bit, but definitely different. Then again, the universe changes a teeny-tiny bit every second of every day. For instance, if someone were to get off the couch and randomly drink a glass of milk? Bam! One less glass of milk in the universe. Changed forever. Well, excluding any time-travel shenanigans, but anyone who puts a big old hole in the time-space continuum just to un-drink a glass of milk should really reevaluate their priorities. Unless, of course, they were attempting to prevent some massive catastrophe vis-a-vis said glass of milk. Such a scenario is by no means impossible, as one should never underestimate the importance of calcium. Another important tip for any life forms out there is to keep things in perspective. Some look at the vastness of creation in relation to themselves and go, ‘Man, this sucks!’ These people really need to narrow their focus. Sure, they will never affect anything happening on the other end of the galaxy, but so what? That’s way the heck over there, where it doesn’t matter. Therefore, in order to maintain a healthy mindset, it is important to narrow one’s perspective to the things and people that affect them, and that they can affect in turn. But what happens if one is an unfathomable cosmic being from beyond the veil of reality? What happens when such an existence is capable of influencing entire swathes of the universe just by its presence? A creature such as Magh'rathlak the Observer? That particular entity is only about average as far as reality-warping creatures from the dawn of time go, so its influence over the fabric of reality is rather limited. And it still struggles to keep things in perspective. That, among other things, is why it decided to narrow its worldview a bit by compressing the maddening vastness of its being into a single corporeal form. Magh'rathlak had never tried such a feat, but that wasn't about to stop it. After all, how hard could being human possibly be?
