《Dreams of the Aasimar Cleric》Some goblins have a night visitor

As darkness falls on the camp you once again rest your head and fall asleep: You see the ruin of a home with fields surrounding it, a shallow breeze blows and and you can see some light coming from inside a small flickering light. As you look around you see the moon fully overhead not a cloud in the sky.
A dark robed figure approaches the structure. As it enters the light of the campfire inside the house you can see the features of the humanoid figure. Pitch black skin, one green eye and one blue eye, a short black horn adorn each side of her head, small strings of golden jewelry on each arm with small charms hanging from each. Each hand having long fingernails that come to almost a talon point. Jet black hair falls back past her shoulders bound with golden rings behind its head. This creature looks in through the window of the ruined house. Inside several small green humanoids sleep, one of them sits in a chair in the corner with a spear leaning into his shoulder. The figure outside begins to wave its hands and mutter something almost silently. One of the green figures begins to stir in its sleep, shaking back and forth. Its eyes wincing shut and its arms push out in front of it as if trying to keep something at bay. The one in the seat begins to stir and wake.
The figure outside waves her towards the creature and it quickly falls back asleep, its limbs fall limply to its side.
The small creature arms still outstretched breathes erratically as if in a panic. It struggles and struggles, fighting against some unseen enemy. This continues for some time the creature's predicament devolves into panicked scraping on the floor of the ruin and gasping breathes. One hand now outstretched the other grabbing at its own neck. The creature's breathing stops and all the limbs begin to buck and shake and flail. Then the movement stops, the shaking, the breathing, all of it. The creature outside the building begins to wave her hands again and its mouth begins to move again. It reaches to its side for a small leather bag, it waves its hand over the bag and opens the flap of it. Inside you see the body of the small creature and and a white energy surrounding it, a spectral form of the creature appears to rise from corpse. It seems to look around, down at itself, it sees the figure staring in from the window and eyes of the spectral form go wide.

The figure outside opens the bag and the spectral form seems to be drawn toward it. It tries to turn and move away it is unable. A grin spreads across the horned creatures face as the spectral form is pulled and dragged and vanishes into the bag. It closes the bag and waves its hands over the bag once again and then puts it back at it's side. It turns and walks away into the darkness, the skin matching perfectly the darkness of the night. As the creature disappears into shadows you wake.

The Good Crash: An Oral History of the Post-Scarcity Collapse
"Don't we all feel, deep down, that we deserve the apocalypse?" APRIL, 2028—Global capitalism has collapsed. America has sealed itself off from the outside world, and inside its borders, a revolution rages. All it took was one incredible little machine. That machine turned into two, then four, then eight... like a virus, the replicators spread. As a work of oral history, The Good Crash features over 50 interviews with key witnesses to the events of 2027. The text is rendered in the words used by the interviewees themselves, with light editing for clarity and concision. As such, the book contains language and themes that are not appropriate for children.By capturing the voices to the people at the very root of the revolution, journalist and historian R. Vondersnitch has traced the origins and aftermath of the replicators' rapid spread. Crucially, the book also includes perspectives and testimony from those who attempted to stop the spread of the reps. "Some of these are heroes, too, in their own ways," the author writes in the book's introductory note.
