《Love By Chance》Chapter 46: || A Lot Like Love ||

He tried for the tenth time, since the morning, still out of reach. Frustrated he threw the phone on the bed. "Why is it saying out of reach!?"
"Landline!" He remembered, quickly picking up his phone he called her landline number. Once, twice and thrice, Not answered.
Angry he threw the phone this time it went flashing through the air onto the floor, shattering into pieces.
"Is everything alright Sir?" Asked Khanna who had just entered to remind his boss about the meeting due in an hour, only to witness yet another handset meet a brutal death. He smiled.
"What's so nice? Why are you smiling?" Asked Shivaay irritated."Wo bahut dino me baad dehka naa, isliye!" Spoke Khanna giving him a toothed smile.
"Shut Up!" He commanded annoyed.
"I don't understand log phone kyun rakhte gain, jab uthana hi nahi hota hai!" He spoke still very much frustrated.
"Ho sakta hai unke phone ka bhi yeah haal hua hoga!" Khanna mocked in an innocent tone. Only to get a death glare by his boss."Ek cheez theek se nahi karti hai, phone..!" He said rubbing his forehead, hoping she was fine.
"Oh ...Anika Ma'am!" Khanna's guess hit the bull's eye.
"Office number pe try kariye!" Suggested Khanna.
Shivaay looked up with hope, why hadn't he thought of it. "Hmm." He nodded with a straight face, digging into his pocket.Khanna blinked, his boss was seriously facing thinking and comprehending incapability. "Sir" he offered his phone hiding his smile.
But the smile perhaps was visible cause he got yet another dagger of a look from his boss.
"..Oh..Kolkata...But...Oh Alright. .yeah...Thanks Saumya!" He ended the call. Anika had left for Kolkata, for a destination wedding organization. She wouldn't be back before two weeks because soon after there was an event in Hyderabad, so she would directly fly from Kolkata. In the mean while Saumya would be handling things at the city. Though initially it was the other way round Anika had literally changed plans on the last minute. He frowned, two weeks! That was such a long time!
He walked down wondering why she had changed plans last minute. Maybe because she loved travelling, and adventures, he reasoned. But why was he affected, it was just a matter of two weeks, fourteen days that's all.
No it was a matter of, three hundred and thirty six hours! Why hadn't she at least left him a message, dint she know he would be worried. But no, she is Anika. Always does what she likes!Frustrated he left for office. Needless to say the employees of the Oberoi office had an extremely hard day!
**
"How was your day, Bhaiya? " asked Prinku as she served him with some more gravy.
"Normal." Came a crisp reply.
"Are you sure cause Khanna told me you broke three today!"
Shivaay-"Ye Khanna bhi! Just normal tension nothing serious. "
Prinku nodded."Waise Bhaiya you know today Naani ..
Shivaay-" who naani?"
Prinku-"Dev ki Naani, had come home."
Shivaay nodded-"Oh Dev...waise Dev is in the city? " He enquired fixing his entire attention on her.
"Yes! In fact he came home today. But..why..Shivaay-" just like that " He continued analysing his food. So Anika had gone all alone.
Daadi-"Waise Dev se yaad aaya Anika..
"What Anika?" Asked Shivaay immediately looking up with sudden interest. Daadi hid her smile at that.
"Usne phone kiya thaa...WO Kolkata mein hai!
"She called You!" He asked surprised keeping his glass aside"Haan...WO video..call..!" Replied Daadi casually.

He cocked up his brow at the new piece of information, "...Video..Call!!?!" He spoke, tapping his feet in sweet frustration now. Great, he dint even deserve a message and Daadi a video call. Amazing!
"Haan video call, woh Kolkata main pucchhka,..
Shivaay-" What's Pucchhka?"
"Gol Gappa Bhaiya!"
Shivaay nodded turning his attention back to Daadi.Daadi-"...aur mishti doi, aur..rasgulle.."
Shivaay-"what the hell, usne yeah sab ek saath khaaya...She is mad!Daadi aapne manaa nahi kiya...agar ye sab ek saath khaayegi naa toh..."
"Billu..." Daadi cut him short, "poori baat toh sun, who surf dikhaa rahi thii!"
Shivaay-"Daadi please, aap usko jaanti nahi ho, she is totally capable of eating all that together!" Spoke Shivaay turning the spoon in his hand restlessly.
"Aur upar se, shaadi ke arrangements mein itni busy ho jaayegi ki apna khayal nahi rakhegi, exactly what she did in Udaipur!" He added.
Daadi and Prinku gave wide smiles to him."Awww...!" They exclaimed in unison.
Prinku smiled wider-"Daadi Bhaiya, kuch ..."Hmm" Daadi hummed cutting her off, giving Shivaay a teasing grin."What?" He asked switching his glance between the two women.
"Kuch toh hai!" declared Prinku, playing with the spoon.
"Nahi. Bahut kuch hai! Kyun Billu?" Asked Daadi laughing.
"Ladies! Aap log kuch ka kuch kuch kar rahe gain, aisa waisa kuch nahi hai!" He said pushing his chair and getting up to leave, before the situation got over embarrassing for him.
"Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Billu, Hum Sab Samajte hain!" Daadi called behind him as he left.
"Waisa Kuch nahi hai Daadi!" He called out."Ishq Chupaaye nahi chuptaa Billu!" She called out again, as she saw him climbing up the stairs.
"Daadi!" He shook his head, hole a small smile played on his lips which got wider once he reached his room.
He looks at himself in the mirror. Why was she smiling so.much.! He shakes his head laughing on himself.
"Jab yunhi dil muskuraaye,
Jab yunhi hasi hoton pe khil khilaaye,
Toh Samaj Lena,
Ishq ho gaya hai tujhe, Shivaay!"
He blinked looking at himself in the mirror as words that once Omkara had told him came to his memory. I am in...Love? He looked aside confused, and sighed the smile still playing on his lips. Shaking the thoughts off his head he quickly freshened up, and got ready for the night.
Sleep was away as he lay, on the bed staring away at the ceiling of his room. For nice he dint care about the in sent mails or unchecked presentations. He was lost in her thoughts. A smile slipped up once again. But soon faded as he wondered why she don't tell him. His phone beeped bringing him out of his thoughts. "Anika!" He said involuntarily.
Only to find Anika's message in his inbox. He quickly sat up and opened his inbox to read.
"Hi! I m in Kolkata. Just checked your calls.
Sorry Billu Ji, jaldi mein I couldn't even tell you.
You take care!Good Night."
She held the phone close to her heart standing in the room's balcony. She had promised herself not to contact him but she just couldn't keep it. He would have been worried. She had purposely called Daadi so that eventually Shivaay would know. But that dint satisfy her heart. For a reason unknown to herself she sent him the message.
**
The biggest smile and sigh of relief finally found Shivaay. He nodded his head, mad woman she would have forgotten to message him due to work.

He started typing. After some fifty backspaces and ten whole minutes he finally managed to send her a reply.
***
But why was she expecting a reply? He had better things to do than reply to that. He would probably be pissed at her or maybe not affected at all. She sighed and was about to move inside when her phone beeped. Immediately her tired eyes shone as she read his message.
"Message mein toh Billu mat bulao, its just too...
Take care.
Better get your sleep, your mornings always start late anyways.
Good night"
He smiled holding the phone close to his chest as he slept.
She grinned reading his message. Finally a smile lit up her face in the entire day.
She jumped on to her bed preparing to sleep. Wait. She wasn't supposed to feel happy about it. She was, supposed to keep away from him that was the reason she had made the trip. She reprimanded herself for falling weak and looked at her phone lying on the desk.
"Sorry Billu Ji!" She said and did not reply. Soon sleep took over her tired self.

Two Weeks Later:
He came down the stairs humming a random tune to himself. "Good morning Sir!" Wished the staff member who was going upstairs.
"Good morning!" He wished back smiling. The person blinked and startled resumed walking up, it was indeed a good day if boss was in that mood.
He checked his phone. No message. He thought she would inform before taking the flight but she din't! But he did know she was leaving from Hyderabad by the early morning flight. Typical of her to forget to inform. They had occasionally exchanged messages and few phone calls- three to be precise over the past two weeks. While Anika kept it formal and short on purpose, Shivaay understood that to be her busy schedule. The days had given him some time and clear mind to think about what he actually wanted. He would wake up with her flashes , sleep after messaging her a good night, and the entire at would be spent either expecting her message or call or in her thoughts. He knew his emotions were quiet strong for her. But slowly they were moulding into Something... The something which the world perhaps called love. He realised he had fallen for her. He was crazy about her. He behaved differently with her , he found himself as he was in front of her.
But all that aside, he wondered what she felt for him. Was it the same? That was what he had to find out. He hadn't totally been sure about himself, there were still lingering thoughts that made him doubt his understanding of his emotions, until the day before when everything had settled in his mind like the clear blue ocean.
The previous day:-
Prinku entered his study, she was now able to walk after the operation though the doctor did suggest her not to strain herself and take proper precautions.
"Bhaiya can I talk to you for two minutes?" She asked hesitant."Take twenty Prinku, sit!" He said helping her.
Prinku-"No..you would have work !"
"It doesn't matter, all that matters is family! " he replied. Life had taught him a lot. He wasn't certainly the one to repeat same mistakes again. He knew the worth of time and togetherness now, it was beyond everything.
"Bhaiya!" She said unsure. He pulled a cahir close to hers and sat holding her hand. Wondering what was that she was so hesitant to say. "Prinku, don't worry tell me." He reassured her.
It would have been easier to put forth her thoughts to Shivaay of OmRu were there. She could never get the courage to speak to Shivaay directly about certain things and OmRu helped at that. She would tell it to them and they would easily bring it up in front of Shivaay.
"Ahh..its about Dev!"
Shivaay nodded, "What about him?"
Prinku-"He..he proposed me Bhaiya. "
"What!?" Asked slightly take aback.
Prinku tensed up, wondering what his brother would say. Dev belonged to a very middle class family and Shivaay had his rules."What do you want?" He asked her delicately.
She fluttered her eyes here and there, "I love him too Bhaiya!" She spoke softly.
Shivaay-"But Prinku, do you know him..
Prinku-"Bhaiya he is a very good person. When I had nothing and no one he helped me out as a friend. He has taken care of me when I was not well. He dint even know who I was and still was always there for me. What else should I look for in him?"
Shivaay sat silently as her words were processed by his brain. Wasn't the same true for Anika. What else could he ask for in her? Was still Naam Khoon Khaandaan, what he was looking for? Of course no his brain replied on confidence. He had seen how people with perfect Naam Khoon Khaandaan had treated him and his family. He knew what mattered was a person's worth. And for that matter Anika was a gem! He smiled.
Prinku-"Bhaiya? "
Shivaay diverted his attention back on Prinku."what did you tell him?"
Prinku looked baffled. " I said ...its a yes if only YOU say A Yes!"
"What a sad way of answering yaar! To tell him you love him. Its your life Prinku, then who am I to take decisions. Anyways kisi ne kaha hai mujhse, The Heart is never wrong! Go tell him. I will ask Daadi to talk to his grandmother and Shaadi ki date bhi fix kardenge!"
Prinku smiled and hugged him. "Thank You! Thank You so much Bhaiya. I m so so happy!"
Shivaay smiled as she left.
He turned to the photo of the three brothers on the table. "And our Prinku is getting married soon!" He smiled. Looking up at the calendar. She would be back the next day.
***
Present Day:
"Billu, kab se udhar hi khada hua hai, neeche bhi aayega! Kahan khoua hua hai subha subha?" Asked Daadi smiling seeing the smile on his face.
"WO main...!" He dragged his voice quickly coming down the stairs."Dehk Sunita Ji, Dev ki Naani aati hi hongi, aaj date fix ho jaaye uske baad...!"
Shivaay "Daadi Daadi, Don't worry sab intezaam ho jaayega! Aakhir our princess is getting married!" He smiled looking at Prinku.
"Meri meeting hai, I will be back in an hour!"
He quickly sipped his juice, once again thinking about her. She would have arrived by now.He smiled, it was time to find out what she felt. The Shark Singh Oberoi's brain had better plans. He made his way to the exit checking a few mails.
A sudden commotion, a reflex and he found himself, close to something, rather someone. Correction, he found someone in his arms. He smiled even before she could catch a glimpse of the face. The mere presence was enough for him to know. She clutched on tightly to something soft to prevent herself from hitting the ground, her eyes squeezed shut. She slowly opened her eyes, hoping against hope only to know she would fail in praying it wasn't him.
She gently unfolded her vision and found him smiling at her. She smiled back. It was so good to see him. No this is it that was not supposed to happen! She tried freeing herself but he kept looking at her. It felt heartwarming peace to hold her in his arms. He gently bent down and kissed her cheeks. She blinked awestruck, as her cheeks automatically flushed in response. He gid his smile, and straightened up making her stand.
"Good Morning and welcome back!" He said cheerfully. She only blinked to register all that was happening. There were tingling loops in her stomach and dizziness in her head. There was something in the way he looked at her,his hand still holding hers.
"Wo Daadi had ...called...!" Her voice stammered.
"See you later! "He smiled, blinking at her with twinkling eyes. He walked out knowing he had started it all in the most brilliant way. Running his hand over his hair, he walked out to crack a deal, he knew was already his!
He turned back," Kabhi Kabhi dehk ke bhi chal liya karo!" He grinned.
She only kept blinking and staring, at his retreating figure, wondering what he was up to!
"Phel Gaya Raita!" Here she had been away for two entire weeks hoping that the little that was there between them would disappear. But the weather had other plans apparently, she had landed not in the city but right into his arms!
"Kya landing hai Anika!" She mocked herself. Something about his manner told her he was up to something, what -only time could tell! But, there was surely something there that wasn't there before!

Hope you all liked it..
