《Because of Karson》Chapter 2

After I picked out a long sleeved shirt to cover up the bandage, I picked out some blue skinny jeans to go along with it. I set the clothes down on my desk and headed towards the bathroom across the hall. I went over to the shower, turned the knob, and waited for it to warm up.
I eventually took my clothes off as I stepped into the shower, the water already scorching hot. I didn't mind though, it helped me relax as the water slowly descended down my back. I looked down at my forearm, trying to avoid the water from seeping through the bandage.
I took a 25 minute shower, knowing that I had some time to spare. When I got out, I dried myself with a towel, wrapping it around my body, and headed back to my room to grab my clothes.
Once I got my clothes, I walked across the hall again, and went back into the bathroom. As I put my clothes on, I slowly looked up to see my reflection in the mirror. I frowned, noticing the bags underneath my eyes from not getting any sleep the night before. I also caught the sight of exhaustion seeping through my facial features as I leaned over the sink to brush my teeth.
I didn't bother putting makeup on, other than a little bit of mascara to make myself look somewhat decent. I decided to only brush my wet, blonde hair, and leave it down so it can air dry.
Seeing that it is now 6:30am, and school started at 7:30am, I walked over to Jace's room, lightly knocking on the door. He opened it and I let him know to be down soon, so we can leave a little earlier to drop Olivia off at her new elementary school. He nodded, then turned back around to go through his closet.
I made my way downstairs to get Olivias lunch ready for the day. When I walked into the kitchen, I could hear my mother's snores coming from her bedroom, only yards away. I slightly rolled my eyes and sighed as I get the materials for Olivias lunch.
I heard Jace and Olivia coming down the stairs minutes later, knowing he already woke her up and helped her change clothes and brushed her hair. I smiled as I looked at the scene unfold in front of me, watching Jace tickle Olivia as she laughed with tears forming in her eyes.

"J-Jace stop!" She tried to say as her giggles filled the room. Liv was trying to get away from his embrace as he kept tickling her sides.
"Fine," he smirked, slowly letting her down.
"Hey Liv, I got your lunch ready so we can head out in a few minutes. Are y'all ready to go?" I asked them, giving Liv her lunch box as I put her backpack around her shoulders.
"Yeah, we're ready. Just give me a second to go grab my phone," Jace replied, already sprinting back up the stairs.
"Are you ready for your first day of kindergarten?" I asked Liv, crouching down to reach her height.
"Yes! I'm so excited to see my friends and I can't wait to play on the swings at recess!" She giggled, jumping up and down as a huge smile spread across her face.
I laughed as she jumped into my arms. I heard some noise and looked over to see Jace running down the stairs, tripping in the process.
"Dammit, these stairs are always making me fall on my ass," he muttered under his breath as he got up, trying to act like nothing happened.
I barked out a a laugh as he sent a glare my way. I flipped him off in return, making sure Liv didn't see the finger I gave him quite often.
I carried Olivia as I grabbed my keys, phone, and backpack. Once Jace got his backpack from the dinning room, we all walked towards the front door. I opened it and we stepped outside to see my white Honda Civic parked in the driveway.
I put Liv down and opened the the car door, making sure she was secure in her car seat. Once I buckled her up, I walked around the car and sat down in front of the wheel. I looked over to see Jace in the passenger seat, already typing away on his phone.
We started driving towards Olivias school, which was only 4 minutes away. When I saw the building approaching, I drove up to the front and got Liv out of her car seat. She quickly kissed my cheek and started sprinting to her friends that were waving at her excitedly.
I laughed, a little shocked at how fast she ran. "I'll pick you up at 2:45!"

Luckily, she heard me as she turned around, giving me a thumbs up as she blew a kiss in my direction.
I smiled, getting back into the car so I could drive Jace and I to our high school. I'm starting senior year while he is going into sophomore year. Our school was only 10 minutes away from Liv's school, so it's an easy drive.
"Are you nervous about this year?" I asked, glancing towards Jace.
"I mean, I guess. I'm nervous for football tryouts that are in a few days," he replied, fidgeting with his fingers.
"You're going to make it, I guarantee. Last year you literally tackled three huge juniors just as a little freshman," I snorted, trying to make him more excited about tryouts.
"Oh yeah! I forgot about that. It was so funny when everybody stared at me like I had dick attached to my forehead," he laughed as he looked out of the window.
We both laughed together as we approached East Lakewood High. I parked my car as Jace and I got out, slowly walking towards the familiar, old, red brick building.
Jace waved me goodbye as he jogged towards his group of football friends. I opened the doors of East Lakewood High as I searched for someone in particular. I walked through the crowded halls until I spotted my best friend since 2nd grade standing by her locker.
I immediately ran up to her and tackled her in a bear hug. "Nora!" I screamed, wrapping my arms around her small waist.
Nora froze, but slowly returned the hug as she slightly laughed. We eventually pulled apart from each other as a huge smile grazed my lips.
"You bitch!" She hissed, hitting the back of my head. "You scared the shit out of me!"
I laughed loudly, causing some people to turn their heads in annoyance as they stared at Nora and I. We both glared at them as they immediately turned back around.
"I have so much to tell you! You missed so much over the summer," she explained as she dragged me towards our 1st period class.
We have english, science, and home ec together. Our 1st period is science, so we walked to the class and found our seats in the far back. We sat down and Nora instantly started rambling.
"Okay, first Mr. Campbell got arrested for selling drugs to students," my eyes widened in response as she kept going. "And second, there are 3 new guys. They all moved from California a couple weeks ago and came here. I think they are best friends but I'm not very sure. I haven't seen them but I've heard they are hot as hell and people are saying that they are dangerous." She squealed, clapping her hands in excitement.
I rolled my eyes. "I always knew there was something off about Mr. Campbell." She hums in agreement. "And the new boys, you know I don't care about anyone at this school other than you and my brother."
"Ugh, you're no fun," she pouted, slightly frowning and biting her lip.
The teacher came in a few minutes later after the bell rang. He introduced himself and immediately started teaching the class about DNA and RNA.
I barely paid attention, almost falling asleep at my desk, until I felt Nora slap my arm gently. "Sorry," I mumbled, slowly lifting my head up as I noticed the drool on my sleeve, then quickly wiping it away.
I heard the bell ring 25 minutes later, indicating that class was over, so Nora and I got up and quickly left the classroom. We waved each other goodbye as she headed to history and I went the opposite way to Spanish class.
I headed towards Spanish with my head hung low, trying not to attract anymore attention to myself as I ignored my peers around me. Of course, with luck not being on my side today, I ran straight into someone's chest.
I ended up falling on my ass, mumbling a few curse words under by breath in annoyance. I slowly looked up to see piercing green eyes, glaring down at me.
My eyes widened in shock.
I'm so screwed.
