hyeji scampered around her room way too excitedly as she checked herself while standing infront of the full length mirror, placed somewhat in the corner of her room.

although being friends with the boys for quite a long time now, this was the first time she had ever invited them over her place.

and to say that mrs. kwon was happy upon hearing about her daughter inviting her friends, which the mother would love to refer to them as the embodiment of gods themselves, would be an understatement.

the mother was way beyond happy to have 'gods' coming over her place.

the sound of the doorbell ringing very much melodically, resonated through out the house.

hyeji immediately rushed out of her room, the delicious odor of her mom's cooking infiltrating her nostrils. hyeji exclaimed, earning a chuckle from her mother.

the moment she opened the door, she was greeted by the sight of heavenly looking gorgeous males, as if they had walked straight out of a comic book.

hyeji joked whilst covering her eyes.

mrs. kwon appeared beside hyeji's side, beaming a bright smile to each and every one of them.

the boys greeted the elder and smiled as well. hyeji frowned upon noticing renjun's absence.

renjun exclaimed, running towards them. renjun added while panting.

hyeji looked up to see a new guest, a tall male standing beside renjun. the moment their eyes locked, it widened with surprise.

renjun skeptically glanced at the two of them, pondering about how she even knew his step-brother's real name when they just met.

donghyuck spoke slowly, realization hitting him.

mrs. kwon scrutinized at the male who was literally sweating by now because of the inquiring stares thrown off at him.

hyeji deadpanned.

renjun stared at his brother, feeling a little disheartened.

lucas nervously smiled, eyes darting from one person to another.

jisung timidly voiced out, noticing the darkened sky.

mrs. kwon eyed him down, leaning against the door frame, imitating a literal gangster.

hyeji chuckled faintly, cutting off the tension filled atmosphere as she walked back in. she wasn't really expecting to meet lucas after everything that had happened, especially not as renjun's step-brother. what a small world indeed.

when everyone was comfortably settled inside the living room, mark was the first one to speak up inorder to break the awkward silence.

mark asked with awkwardness lingering in the tone of his voice.

lucas replied uncertainly.

jaemin smacked mark on the back of his head. mark hissed with pain, rubbing the sore spot.

jeno held out his left hand for a friendly handshake. noticing that lucas was being left out from their squad, jeno tried making him feel less awkward.

lucas smiled, accepting his friendly gesture.

chenle smiled brightly and fortunately, the said male didn't let out a dolphin shriek out of utter excitement, thus saving everyone's ears from being tormented.

chenle interrupted his boyfriend from introducing himself.

jisung mumbled, to which, chenle just showed him the puppy eyes. and ooh, did it melt the latter's heart.

jaemin introduced himself, soon facepalming as he realised that he had said the wrong name.

jaemin joked, earning a playful glare from the girl sitting infront of them.

nana barked adorably, tilting her head to the side as she eyed the tall male. lucas chuckled.

jeno eye-smiled.

mark hollered. chenle faked a gag.

donghyuck confidently stood up and walked towards hyeji. gently grabbing her hand, he intertwined it, her hand fitting perfectly with his like a missing puzzle piece.boyfriend

the huang brothers raised their eyesbrows, especially lucas, their mouth slightly parting apart. renjun definitely heard his heart cracking at the sight of them holding hands together.

he knew it was just for show and that they were just pretending to make it seem like it was real infront of lucas, who was his step-brother.

'if i was your boyfriend, i'd never let you go' mrs. kwon literally rushed out the kitchen, now standing beside hyeji with her hands placed on her hips.

jaemin exclaimed. nana barked, as if to say that, even she was surprised as well.

chenle shrieked, giving jaemin the– she literally told us– kinda look. jaemin silently chuckled, remembering that hyeji indeed informed them about the 'we're just pretending' news.

jeno stood up,he tried suppressing the constant yellings.

hyeji groaned. donghyuck gently rubbed circles on the back of her hand to help her calm down. never

mrs. kwon let out a very childish squeal, clapping her hands like a seal.

mark sniffed something coming off from the kitchen.

amongst the chaotic scene, renjun silently stood at the corner, his eyes never leaving hyeji's petite figure. this is just a pretend relationship and it will only last for a short duration. renjun reminded himself to lessen the pain growing on his heart.

but what if donghyuck would beat him to it and make her his? what if he was slowly becoming the second male lead of his own fantasy and that he was unwillingly letting go of the girl whom he thought would be his instead. what if?

but he was definitely sure of the fact that he was deeply hurt. fake or not, it hurt him either way.

the kind of look that donghyuck gives while looking at hyeji comfirmed renjun's suspicion that even he liked the girl more than as a friend. now that they were pretending, this gave donghyuck the chance to grow even closer with the girl than before. despite the situation, renjun was determined to not give up.

renjun mumbled with determination before getting pulled into the chaos to help them extinguish the blazing fire on the kitchen stove.

the hassled atmosphere had now calmed down. the pot where mrs. kwon was supposedly cooking their 'dinner's curry' at, was now lying in the sink– its base coated with burnt black spot.

jisung blurted out, his stomach growling simultaneously.

the mother assured them, walking back into the kitchen to start cooking another dish. this time, a bit more carefully.

hyeji suggested, jumping onto the couch. donghyuck sat on the left while renjun sat on the right side of the girl, earning a look from all of their friends.

lucas kept his eyes solely on hyeji, hoping for her to look back at him but no, hyeji was blatantly avoiding him.

mrs. kwon chirped in a sing song voice.

hyeji glared at her.

donghyuck jumped up and saluted, giving hyeji a smile and then running into the kitchen.

jaemin mumbled.chenle mumbled as well, high-fiving jaemin for thinking the same as him. mark joined them as well.

mrs. kwon yelled from the kitchen.

hyeji groaned yet again, passing the remote towards jeno but it accidentally ended up hitting lucas instead.

hyeji quickly apologized, to which, lucas just smiled warmly at her. she finally noticed him.

renjun stood up as well, adjusting his oversized jacket. hyeji declined his offer and walked towards the door, slipping on her shoes.

renjun pouted, making her grow surprised at his whiny gesture. to hyeji, renjun looked adorable. it was her first time seeing him acting stubborn yet in a cute way.

hyeji turned away to prevent him from seeing her flushed face. renjun smiled triumphantly. he sure was acting strange today.

hyeji sighed, her eyes scanning through the items placed in the shopping cart as she crossed out the names written on the list.

renjun mumbled loud enough for her to hear as he glanced over her shoulder to take a peek at the paper.

hyeji instantly snapped her head to the side only to come in contact with renjun's face which was extremely close to hers.

hyeji controlled her breathing and kept calm as if this closeness wasn't affecting her at all.
