If I was in World War Two they'd call me spitfire

Trigger warnings:

Shouta wasn't sure how well he would be able to pull this off. There were quite a lot of people guarding the warehouse from which the signal from Y/N's phone came and Shouta was still an emotional mess when they got there. Hizashi had been watching the place with him for a while from a vantage point. Hizashi wasn't great with guns, but he was good enough to take out the guards on the outside, so Shouta would have a clear path inside. That was the plan.
When he was waiting close to the building for Hizashi to take the first shot, he still wasn't sure whether he was ready. This was more than likely a suicide mission. He had no idea how heavily those guys were armed and how many of them there were. He had no idea whether Y/N was even inside. And he would have to lay low for a long time after this, because this wasn't a carefully planned operation. This was going to be a bloodbath, whether he was successful or not.
He'd have to go into hiding after this, so he really could only bank on Y/N being here. Otherwise... well, otherwise she was probably lost. It was more than risky to pull this off without any preparation, but he had to do it. There was no time to wait and stake out the place, count guards, see what kind of weapons they had. Not with Y/N's life on the stake already.
He still didn't feel like he could properly focus and he hated that feeling. Especially when it was so important that he could make split second decisions right now. There was a good chance that this would go terribly wrong. And he'd either die or he'd have to live with Y/N dying because of him for the rest of his life. Neither of those options seemed like a good option.
But here he was now, waiting for Hizashi to give him a sign that he could go. He'd listen out for the shot normally, but with the silencers they were using it was no more than a dull thud and Shouta didn't trust himself to actually hear it when it was happening. Not when he was this nervous.
He wondered whether Hizashi was as nervous as him. He wasn't nearly as experienced with the whole killing business as Shouta was. Shouta was usually the one doing the killing and Hizashi was doing the paperwork side of things. Which didn't mean that Hizashi wasn't going for a kill here and there himself, but it was a rare occasion. Now there was so much more depending on him doing a good job and Shouta didn't like putting so much pressure on him, but there was no other way.
Shouta took a deep breath. He had to stop thinking. He needed to focus or this would go wrong. Badly. He took a few deep breaths, trying to focus his mind on what was going on around him, but it was pretty pointless. He wasn't getting anywhere with that, all it did was make him more anxious and more worried about messing this up. He'd just have to try his best.
And that's when he saw the signal from Hizashi. He knew he wouldn't hear the shots with the state of mind he was in. Thank God they had agreed on the signal beforehand, otherwise someone might have found the corpses of the two guards and they would have gone out looking for them. But right now it seemed like most of them were inside at the moment.

Shouta wasn't sure whether that was a good thing or not. On the one hand, the more they could take out from a distance, the better. But it also gave them more time to notice them and where they were coming from, to hide and to alarm the rest of them. So maybe this was actually a good thing. Maybe when he had them all together and he was fast enough, he could get them quickly.
Shouta had made his way around to the entrance now and saw the two guards slumped down on the ground. Hizashi's shots weren't clean by any means, there was blood everywhere, but at least they were dead and he had been silent. No one seemed to have noticed. Shouta quickly checked what they had on their bodies. Both only had a handgun and a knife.
Hizashi took the knives off them and got any ammunition he could find on them. After all, you could never have enough bullets. Better to be safe and take a whole lot of bullets than be sorry and run out of them in the middle of a shootout. After that he quickly peeked inside the building.
There was a hallway, separating the entrance from the main area. He could hear noises coming from inside, there was shouting and screaming and a familiar voice crying quietly. It looked like two people were guarding the entrance to the main area as well, but they seemed distracted by what was going on inside. Shouta had to distract them and take them out one by one.
He kicked a pebble against the wall and waited until he heard a few quiet steps, coming in his direction. He took a deep breath and grabbed his knife. Someone's head poked outside and the guard's gaze fell on his two dead friends. Shouta saw his eyes widening in shock, before he jumped him, holding his mouth shut tightly with one hand and a knife at his throat. He quickly sliced from one ear to the other, a deep enough cut to make him bleed out quickly.
He had to hold his mouth shut until his body was slumping down, losing all strength. Shouta slowly laid him out on the ground, careful not to make too much noise. Now he had to get the other one. He quickly looked around the corner, seeing the other guard getting a little nervous. With any luck he wouldn't even need to do anything to lure him out. He already kept looking behind himself.
Shouta went back to his earlier position, his back pressed tightly against the wall. Soon enough he heard footsteps coming towards him and the same thing happened again. Shocked eyes, holding his mouth shut, slitting his throat, the blood spurting over his arms, waiting until he stopped struggling and fell to the floor dead. That was easier than Shouta would have thought.
Shouta quickly snuck through the hallway and towards the entrance to the main area. The setup here was quite similar to the abandoned warehouse before - a dirty and old mattress in the corner, a chair in the middle of the room. But that's not where everyone was gathered. They were all huddled on the floor somewhere, tightly together. Shouta found it difficult to make out what was going on. But then he saw her in the middle of the group, naked, tears streaming down her face.
"Please... please don't..." she whimpered. There was some snickering from the men around her. Seeing her there, Shouta knew that he would be able to pull this off. It was like his focus was returning immediately. He was aware of everything going on around him, he was able to focus on the tiniest speck on the wall again. He needed to get her out of there. He couldn't see what was going on, but she was suffering, she was clearly not okay and she needed his help.

"You want me to stop? Why's that?" the man kneeling in front of her, between her legs, asked her in a mocking tone. Kai Chisaki. Of course it was him. Who else would be there to torture and torment her? Shouta had to hold back, so he wouldn't charge in, guns blazing and without thinking.
"Please... I'm... I'm scared... please don't do this to me... I've done nothing to you..." she was begging him. Shouta hated seeing her like this. He hated seeing her hurt and scared and begging for her life. They weren't even treating her like an animal, they were treating her worse than that.
One or two of the gang members in the back seemed a little uncomfortable with what they were doing. One was reaching out to her face to wipe away a few of her tears. It was a nice gesture, maybe, but it was too little, too late. Shouta would kill them. All of them. They deserved to die for everything they had done to her. He just wished he could make it slow and painful for them.
"I know, I know... you haven't done anything wrong... too bad the wrong man fell in love with you." he heard Chisaki saying. That made him stop for a second. So it was his fault. It was entirely his fault. Shouta looked down at the gun in his hands. Maybe... maybe it would be better if he died instead. This was all his fault, so did he really deserve to live? After everything Y/N had been through?
He was snapped back into reality when he heard a sharp and pained cry from Y/N. He looked up and saw her staring at the ceiling, her eyes looking empty, as if she wasn't really there. He heard some wet noise and he wasn't sure whether he even wanted to know what it was.
But it finally brought him back to reality. He could die later, but right now Y/N was in pain and he had to kill those bastards, so she wouldn't have to suffer anymore. At least for now. He had to get her out of here, before they killed her. He heard the men holding her down snickering, as he slowly and carefully loaded his gun. He had one shot with which he could make things count.
After that one shot, everyone would know that he was there. He had to be fast then, no time to take aim properly. He had to keep moving and avoid getting killed himself. If he got killed and Chisaki survived, he could only imagine how much worse things would get for her. It couldn't happen. Chisaki had to die. He would get shot first and Shouta would make sure that he died a slow and painful death. He wouldn't get a bullet to the head or to the lungs... he would slowly bleed out.
"Look at this disgusting little whore..." he heard Chisaki growling, before he scoffed. Shouta aimed the gun at him carefully and quietly took the safety off. He took a deep breath in and out and then another one, until he was sure that he was calm enough to shoot and balance out the recoil.
And then he pulled the trigger. It was no more than a dull thump, but people were close enough to still hear it. Shouta watched Chisaki tumble on his feet for a while, before collapsing backwards and falling to the ground. No one moved for a second which gave Shouta enough time to get back up and start charging in. And then all hell broke loose in the main area.
Everyone let go of Y/N, as they started getting their guns ready. Y/N rolled to the side and curled up in a fetal position, whimpering, covering herself, wrapping her arms around herself and closing her eyes. There was a gun lying beside her that was glistening wet. A shiver ran down Shouta's spine, before he looked away from it and focussed on the task at hand. Y/N wasn't in immediate danger right now.
He quickly fired two shots at two of them that were too slow to get to cover in time. He hit one of them in the chest and one in the head. They both sunk to the ground almost immediately. Shouta went behind a concrete pillar for cover. There were four of them left in this room and he prayed that none of them was thinking far enough ahead to take Y/N as a hostage.
Shouta took another deep breath and listened to what was going on in the room. He heard some footsteps to his right. He closed his eyes, trying to visualize the area, which was difficult because this was the first time he had seen it. Once he had a rough idea of where the steps were coming from, he quickly ducked out from behind his cover and aimed at the gang member approaching him.
He fired two shots at him, just to be sure, before going back into cover. The small thud he heard confirmed to him that he had hit him and he was down at least. Maybe not dead, but injured enough for now. Shouta quickly grabbed a few bullets to reload his gun. The adrenaline pumping through his veins helped him to focus on what he was doing. Reloading quickly was one of his specialties.
Shouta then listened out. There were steps coming from two directions now. He cursed under his breath. This was bad. He'd have to be quick and keep moving, find a new place to take cover. He moved out from behind his cover to the other side now, quickly firing a few shots and taking out the guy that was approaching him, before turning around in the direction the other footsteps were coming from. He was a little too slow however. There was a bullet that hit his arm, but it only grazed him. It was still painful as hell and he groaned loudly.
But he couldn't give up right now. He pressed his lips together tightly and did his best to ignore the pain in his arm, so he could shoot the guy that had hit him. He almost missed from his arm shaking this much with the injury. There was only one of them left now. Three were already down.
Wherever that one guy was he was good at hiding. And Shouta was currently out in the open without having any cover whatsoever. He wasn't even near any cover. And it was quiet. It was completely silent. The only thing Shouta could hear were Y/N's whimpers and they felt like someone was stabbing his heart over and over. He wanted to go over to her, hold her, wrap her up in his arms and finally bring her home. But he knew he couldn't do that just yet. It wasn't over yet.
Shouta was moving quietly towards another pillar. As he came closer he could hear him breathing. It was fast and heavy breathing. Whoever was behind that pillar was no genius or a skilled shooter. It was probably just some scared boy. Too bad he had gotten involved in shit like this. Shouta didn't care who it was - he had hurt Y/N, so he was going to die. Shouta snuck around the pillar.
He was right. The boy behind it was probably barely even 18 years old. He was shivering as he was holding the gun and winced when he saw Shouta right next to him. He was scared out of his mind. Shouta smirked at him. Good. He better be scared because he was going to die right now.
"Please don't kill me... Please... I didn't do anything!" he begged when he realized that he had no chance of actually killing Shouta. He dropped his gun and put his hands up. Both his arms were shaking violently. Shouta almost felt sorry for her, but then he glanced at Y/N who was still on the floor, shivering and holding herself, whimpering, eyes closed, naked and starved.
"Neither did she. I'll make it quick for you." Shouta growled and aimed for his head. A clean headshot was the least he could do. The boy dropped to the floor. He probably didn't even have time to feel any pain from the bullet splitting his head open. To Shouta it seemed like the most humane thing he could do for him. There was no way he could let him live, not after everything.
He quickly bent down to check his pulse - it was gone. He then moved over to the other guys he had shot. None of them had a pulse except the one that had managed to graze his arm with a bullet. He was on the floor groaning and trying to reach out for something. Shouta glanced at him. There was a gun just out of reach for him. With a mocking grin he kicked the gun away from him and bent down in front of him, looking into his scared face. He looked like he didn't want to die.
"You scared?" he asked him.
"Y-yes... I-I'm scared to die... f-fuck..." he answered and coughed up some blood. Shouta scoffed and held his gun to his temple.
"We're all scared to die. Let me put an end to your worries." he replied and pulled the trigger. The man's eyes rolled to the back of his head and he stopped breathing soon after that. Shouta sighed and got up. Chisaki was still writhing on the ground, barely alive, probably just holding onto his pathetic life.
Shouta was debating whether he should have a bit of a chat with him, but he figured it would be easier right now to just let him die on his own. Alone. With no one there to make it better or easier for him. Instead Shouta walked up to Y/N who was still on the ground, whimpering and whining. She was shivering, whether it was from the cold or from being scared, Shouta didn't know.
He knelt down beside her and slowly reached out for her, softly and gently touching her arm. She was cold and she had gotten so thin. Y/N slowly opened her eyes when she felt him touching her arm. He did his best to smile at her, even though he wanted to cry from seeing her broken like this.
"Y/N..." he whispered, hoping she would look at him. And that she did. But her eyes didn't look like she was happy. She looked scared and shocked and then her gaze fell onto his hand touching her arm. She quickly shook her head and scrambled away from him, eyes wide open.
"No... no, no, no, don't touch me... please, please, no..." she whimpered.
