"Hmph, really think you can beat us with your injuries? Don't make me laugh," The girl says.
"You want me to use you as a bat again don't you?" You growl. Kid pauses and looks at you, raising an eyebrow while the girl frowns at you as well as the moustache guy.
"You use everything as a weapon don't you?" He huffs.
"If I can pick it up, it's a weapon... Don't worry though, you're safe," You reply, getting ready to fight.
"Good to know," He comments, also getting ready to fight too. They flash toward you and Kid. You flip back, avoiding her leg. She switches her footing and lunges at you. You swing your arm but she dodges it. You turn your back to her, slamming the elbow of your other arm into her jaw, she staggers and you do the same with your other elbow, hitting her temple and knocking her out. You straighten up and look over as Kid sends moustache guy tumbling.
"You didn't knock him out did you?" You ask. He glances back at the girl.
"Um... Maybe..." He says, tilting his head when moustache guy doesn't move to get up. You share a glance and you both sigh.
"I'm too angry to hold back on these posers..." You grumble.
"Youre angry?" He huffs in surprise, leaning close to your face. "It's really hard to tell," He comments. Your face heats up under his observing gaze.
"N-not so close... Idiot," You manage. He blinks, raising an eyebrow.
"Why? What's up with-" He breaks off as you look into his eyes with a slight pout. He swiftly tears his eyes away, starting down the hall. "Lets go," He coughs. You both start down the hall, avoiding looking at eachother.
"This is like a maze, how are we- hey look a staircase!" You chime, grabbing his hand and tugging him toward it.

"Nice," He says as you both look up at it.
"Why do I have a bad feeling about going up there?" You murmur. He glances at you.
"It'll be fine as long as we don't get separated," He assures, starting up the steps, you both feel a tug on your hands and look down to find you still held hands. You both swiftly pull your hands away.
"Right, don't get separated..." You agree awkwardly. You both go up the stairs in awkward silence. You both reach the next floor glancing around. You smile when you spot a window. "Ground floor." You chime, nudging him.
"Awesome, now let's-" He suddenly pushes you forward and leans out of the way of a fist. You swiftly turn and hit the bull haired disciplinary in the jaw.
"Ow! Shit that hurt!" You gasp, holding your hand.
"Hmph," The disciplinary snorts. Kid punches him square in the nose, sending him flying.
"You alright?" He murmurs.
"Freaking Peachy," You groan, still holding your hand. Something wraps around your ankle and you look down. "Please tell me that's not hair..." You shudder. Kid looks down as well.
"It's-" he is cut off when youre suddenly yanked down.
"No! Nonono! Kid!" You gasp reaching for his foot. You look up at him in slight horror and his is eyes change as he swiftly stoops to grab your hand as you reach out to him but someone crashes into him, making them both go down the stairs. "KID!!" You call out, trying to claw toward the staircase but the hair drags you away, into a room. "Kiiiid!!" You cry in horror.
"Oh little girl! Do not worry so! I will make this quick!" A voice declares as you're pulled into a chemistry class of sorts. You swiftly grab a stool close by chuck it toward the voice.

"Like hell you will! Let me go!" You gasp, latching onto a counter and reaching on top of it in search of something to free yourself. You can only grab a measuring cup before you're yanked off again you break the cup and grab a shard, slashing the hair off before jumping to your feet.
'I need to get back to Kid!' You think, backing up as you eye the odd long haired fellow with a painted face.
"Where are you going? We haven't even begun our battle," He says.
"I-I choose my battles! And I ain't fighting no one who uses hair as a weapon!" You tell him before dashing out. You glance back as a wave of hair bursts out of the room after you. "THAT'S TOO DAMN FREAKY!!" You cry, hauling ass and momentarily forgetting about Kid. He could handle himself right? Right now one of your nightmares was at your heels so Kid would have to wait. You skid around a corner, nearly falling since you still only wore one shoe. Not even the explosion up ahead was gonna slow you down, hell you'd deal with a hundred explosions if it meant not dying a literal hairy death. Someone comes through the gaping hole ahead and aims a custom slingshot at you.
"Get down!" He calls. You rockstar slide as water balloon zooms over your head. You jump to your feet as the contents of the water balloon drench the hair but it keeps coming. You gulp and step closer to the person who had came to help you. He lights a match and tosses it at the hair, igniting it. "No one scares my Death Buddy," He huffs. You look over and squeal happily.
"DEATH BUDDY!!!" You cry out, hugging him and shaking. "I was so scared!" You gasp as he pats your back.
"I know, I sensed it," He says in a cool manner.
"Liar, we heard you scream while we were fighting," Sabo's voice says, making you look over to see him, Ace, and Zoro.
"Guys! I was-- Oh shit! Kid! I have to-" A crash and someone being thrown through a wall cuts you off. You look over and pale. "Kid." You breathe as Spandam comes toward him, taking out a pistol. A wave of fear for the red head makes you run to aid him.
"___! Wait! They're all crazy!" Sabo gasps, going after you but is tackled by a disciplinary. You barley hear him, eyes trained on Kid. Something collides into your side, making you tumble to the ground. A weight on your chest and hands on your wrists pin you to the ground, you glare up at the top hat guy, his dark eyes were slightly feral as he spoke.
"Don't worry, you'll be next. We will clean this whole filthy school," He rumbles, making your blood run cold. A boisterous laugh makes you look over as Kid gets to his knees, glaring up at snickering Spandam.
"I originally planned to save you and the bitch for last since no one would miss you! But since you got all antsy, I guess I can-"
"You're dead fucking wrong," Kid growls, interrupting Spandam.
"Oh really? About what?" Spandam sneers. Kid's eyes go to you and he offers a soft smile that you had never seen before.
"She, will definitely be missed," He says. Your eyes widen in shock and Spandam shrieks a laugh.
"It doesn't really matter! Either way you die now!" He laughs, raising the pistol toward Kid's head.
"KIIIIIIDDD!!!"

Wildling
Blurb: Silas--a scavenger living off the ruins of humanity--has spent his entire life fighting tooth and nail to provide for himself and his crew. But when a scavenging run goes awry and he's snatched up by an android patrol, he finds himself thrown into a cage and priced to sell as a pet. And when a suitor comes calling, he fears the worst: that he'll be turned into a Domestic, a human lapdog brainwashed into total obedience. Instead, he discovers an equally disturbing truth: that the creatures who stole his world have created a videogame the likes of which Earth has never seen; a sprawling, game-like theme park where humans are the Avatars and androids are the players who control them. And to make matters worse, his android guide is as hopeless as they come, having gotten all of her previous Avatars killed in record time. So if Silas wants to regain his freedom, he'll not only have to fight his way through a world that was specifically designed to murder him in brutal fashion--he'll also have to convince his android guide that he should be the one calling the shots. FAQS: Q: Who are you, handsome stranger? A: I'm Kyle Kirrin, the author of Shadeslinger, book 1 of The Ripple System, published by Portal Books, and I write crunchy LitRPG. Q: What is Wildling? And is it complete? A: Wildling is a crunchy LitRPG mash up of Fantasy and Science Fiction. And yup, Wildling is already complete at 64 chapters, or about 120,000 thousand words. You're looking at something like a third draft here--it's fairly polished, but it hasn't been picked over by a copy editor yet nor has my developmental editor seen it. Q: Upload schedule? A: 5 initial chapters today (2/15/2021) and one chapter a day for the next month. After that I'll probably slow down to 2 or 3 chapters a week until the story is complete. Q: How crunchy is it? A: It's pretty crunchy. I'd put it on the same tier as Ascend/The Land/RSSG, but it might be a bit crunchier than those three? Q: Is this the first book in a series or a web novel or what? And what are your plans for it? A: It's currently a standalone with series potential. Full disclosure: this story may head the way of my publisher eventually, but will be available on RR for quite a while no matter what. Likely several months after it's complete with plenty of warning before/if it's taken down. Q: What kind of build does the MC create? A: Sword and board! Q: Crafting? A: Plenty! Crafting isn't as center stage as it is in The Way of the Shaman, but it's close. Q: Base building? A: Two fully separate, distinct bases, both of which play a major role in the story. Q: VRMMO? Portal? Reincarnation or what? A: This one's a bit tricky. Basically an advanced race has created a game-like world that closely resembles a theme park. Think Westworld but with copious amounts of loot. And the MC has to fight his way through that to earn his freedom. Q: Permadeath? A: Nope! The MC gets 3 lives to play through the entirety of the game world, and death is extremely punishing, but not fatal. Q: Harem? Or romance? A: No and no. Q: Cursing? Blood? A: Quite a bit of cursing, yeah. There's blood, too, but it's not a gory book by any means. Q: How can I support? A: Instead of a Patreon/donations etc, I'd ask that you consider giving my debut LitRPG Shadeslinger a chance. It's free on Kindle Unlimited and the audio is already out narrated by Travis Baldree. It's an epic fantasy VRMMO where the main character gets 3 days of exclusive access to a new game plus a snarky, talking axe to guide him through it in exchange for agreeing to become the target of a serverwide manhunt once the Head Start period ends. Q: How's it similar to Wildling? And how's it different? A. The crunch level is very similar, but Shadeslinger is a much lighter, epic fantasy take on the genre. It's also VRMMO, but without any real world components aside from the first chapter. The MC is very different--he comes off as a bit of a jerk early on and can take a bit to warm up to, especially before his backstory is revealed--but he's also got a talking axe that constantly puts him in his place. Shadeslinger's a much more humorous story in general, and it's a great deal more polished as well. Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoy Wildling!

Meanwhile, ancient and powerful forces clash in the shadows, racing across the globe to secure powerful artifacts capable of upending the foundations of the world. New chapters released every MWF. Sorry for the random tiny chapters. I structured and uploaded this as a series of scenes, some of which just didn't need to be very long. I could probably attach the "sub-scenes" to previous chapters, but that'd only be covering it up, so I'm not sure its worth it. Anyway if you find them annoying, let me know, and I'll put some more thought into it. I did, at least, make a point of always posting at least a thousand words on any given day (after I noticed the problem), which hopefully mitigates the problem.
