《Location; Aizawa x Reader》Chapter 40

You walked into Hitoshi's room, a bright smile plastered on your face. You stop when you see him. He is staring out the window, blank and emotionless. "Hitoshi?" You say softly.
He turns and looks at you. "Oh, hi," he says, sitting up a little.
"How are you feeling today?" You ask, sitting at the edge of his hospital bed. He shrugs and fiddles with his fingers.
"A little better," he mumbles.
"Are you excited to go back to school? Your friends miss you," you smile a little.
"I miss them too, but...I...I don't know if I want to go back," he says softly.
You nod. "You don't need to rush it. If you want to wait, that's fine too. Whatever makes you feel comfortable," you say assuringly.
"No, I mean, I don't think I want to keep trying to get into the hero course..." he says sadly.
Your eyes widen a little. "Why?" You ask softly. You know the answer, of course, but you know he needs to work through what he feels.
"I'm not a hero...the two people I was supposed to protect I couldn't..." he says softly.
"Hitoshi, you are a child. You aren't supposed to protect your parents; your parents are supposed to protect you," you say.
"But if I'm a hero...I need to be able to save everyone..." he says.
You nod a little. "That's only partly true," you sigh. He looks up at you, confused.
"I used to think being a hero meant the same thing...you need to save everyone. But that isn't possible. You are going to lose people...it's part of the job," you say softly.
"Have you...have you ever lost people?" He asks.
"Of course. So has Hawks, Aizawa, All Might...every hero has. When I lost my first family, I was devastated. I was so crushed, and I almost stopped hero work," you say.
"Really?" He asks, sitting up.
You nod. "There was a massive car wreck one night. I was the first on the scene. I'm not a rescue hero, but of course, that didn't stop me...I dove into the lake and started to pull families out of their cars. I was sure I got everyone. I felt so proud...till more heroes arrived and I realized I missed a car...I failed...a family died because I couldn't get to them in time," you say sadly.
"We as a society expect perfection from heroes, that we often forget that they are still only humans. Super or not...we can't save everyone...even the people we love," you say.
"When I lost that family, I was so angry with myself. I wanted to quit. I felt like I shouldn't have been a Hero....and one day, a friend of mine told me that as long as I tried...as long as I gave it my all every time...no matter the outcome, I was still a hero...because I jumped into that lake without thinking about what could happen to me...You ran to help your parents without thinking about what could happen to you...same as when Izuku helped Bakugou. Heroes move without thinking...so in my book, you are still a hero to me...and your mom and dad," you sad proudly.

"If you wanna drop out of U.A. Aizawa and I will support you no matter what...so will Shoto," you say, nodding.
He looks down, and you get up to leave. "Y/N?" He says. You turn, and he looks up at you.
"Can you ask Shoto to bring me my homework? I don't want to fall behind," he says softly. You smile a little and nod.
You and Aizawa filled out the paperwork to become Hitoshi's new parents. He was released from the hospital, and two days later, you all sat in the back of a black town car, parked outside the gravesite for Hitoshi's parents' funeral. You got out of the car, taking Eri with you. Hitoshi stares at all of the gravestones and closes his eyes.
"If you can't do this, it's ok. We can leave Hitoshi," Aizawa says softly. Hitoshi opens his eyes and takes a deep breath.
"No...I need to say goodbye," he says.
Aizawa nods and opens the car door. He gets out, and Hitoshi follows him. They walk up the path, and Hitoshi looks up, his eyes lighting up. Every single staff member from U.A. is there along with all of class 1-A. He smiles a little and walks over, taking his seat. Aizawa sits next to him, and you sit next to Aizawa, setting Eri on your lap. Shoto sits next to Hitoshi and holds his hand tightly. Hitoshi begins to cry as they lower his parents into the ground. He buries his face into Shoto's neck as he sobs. Shoto strokes his hair softly, letting him cry.
Denki walks up and hugs Hitoshi tightly. "We've got you, Toshi," he whispers.
All of Class 1-A walk up and hug him tightly. He calms down and lets the warmth of his friends comfort him. You hold Eri tightly as Aizawa strokes your back softly. He glances at you and sees a tear rolling down your cheek. He felt frozen. He never dealt with his own grief, and now he had a 15-year-old kid who was going to need comfort. He began to feel sick.
"She will comfort Hitoshi. She will help him healthily process his grief..." Koa whispered from behind him.
Aizawa glances back, and Koa nods. "Thank you," Aizawa mouths to him.
Hitoshi moved into the same dormitory right next to Eri's dorm. He happily agreed to let you and Aizawa become his legal guardians. His room was fully set up and ready for use when he went back to school. He had frequent meetings with you and Hound Dog about how he was doing. Every teacher and student assured him anything he was feeling was normal for his pain. Slowly but surely, over the months, he started to adjust to student life once again.

Nezu had called Aizawa down to discuss the possibility of transferring Hitoshi into the Hero Course, seeing as his training was going incredibly well. He grabbed Hitoshi's file and made his way down to Nezu's office. He stopped when he saw a familiar hulking figure walking towards him.
"What the fuck are you doing here?" Aizawa growls.
"If you must know, I came for a meeting with Nezu," Endeavor snaps.
"Great. Meetings over. Get the fuck off of campus," Aizawa says angrily.
Endeavor scoffs. "Look...I know what happened with Shinso's family...it's a tragedy...I want to offer my agency's help...Shoto is...well, he's very fond of Shinso, and I want to help in any way I can," Endeavor says.
Aizawa scoffs. "You don't actually want to help...you just want to clear your guilty conscience for being an asshole that night," Aizawa says, annoyed.
Endeavor growls. "Fine...whatever...I'm just trying to catch these bastards before they hurt someone else...or before Hitoshi turns into you," Endeavor growls.
"Excuse me?" Aizawa says, his hand gripping his scarf.
"Shota, don't be stupid. Something like this going unsolved would drive that boy insane... like what your friend's death did to you," Endeavor says.
Aizawa feels his blood boil. "Get. Out," He growls.
Endeavor scoffs and walks away. Aizawa walks into the teacher's general offices, his chest moving up and down. The room is empty, and he takes a deep breath, trying to calm his anger. His mind was racing. He had failed to protect his student; he clearly doesn't know how to comfort Hitoshi well since he himself wasn't good with death and grief. That was your department. You were comforting the entire family, and no one was comforting you. He was a shit dad and a shit boyfriend. He was useless to his family.
"FUCK!" He screamed as he kicked a chair over.
He ran his hands through his hair, panting heavily. He took a deep breath and felt his fists clench. No, he wasn't useless. He could find the fuckers who murdered Hitoshi's parents and bring them to their knees. That was the only thing he knew how to do and do well. He walked over to his desk and opened the bottom drawer. He pulled out a burner phone and dialed a number.
"Hey...I need to hunt tonight...yeah...no...I'll be alone....yeah....ok," he hangs up and takes off his U.A. badge and tosses it onto the desk. He walks out and heads down to the car. He gets in and pulls out his cell. He sends you a quick text and starts the car. He pulls out of the spot and speeds out of the parking lot.
Your phone chimes, and you look at the text. Your eyes widen when you read it.
You quickly dial his number, a sinking feeling crawling into your stomach. "Hello?" He answers curtly.
"Shota, what are you doing? We agreed we wouldn't get involved," you say softly, not wanting the kids to hear.
"You said you wouldn't get involved...I didn't make the same promise," he sighs.
"Shota," you snap.
"I'll be home at eleven...no later...ok?" He says softly.
"Eleven, Shota," you say sternly.
"I love you," he says softly.
"I love you too," you say before hanging up.
"When is daddy coming home?" Eri asks from the living room.
"He'll be home after bedtime, but you'll see him in the morning," you smile. Hitoshi and Shoto look up at you from the coffee table as they study. You smile and kiss Eri's head. "Pizza, ok for dinner?" You smile.
"Yeah, Pizza sounds good," Hitoshi says softly.
It was about 2 A.M. when Aizawa walked into the apartment. You were passed out on the couch, clutching your phone. He sighed and shut the door. Your eyes fluttered open, and you sat up seeing him. "Where have you been?" you ask, slowly standing up.
"I'm sorry...I got caught on a lead and-"
"Shota, it's 2 in the morning. You promised eleven..." you say angrily.
"I know, I'm sorry...I'm sorry, it won't happen again..." he says softly.
You sigh a little and rub your temples. "Are you ok?" you ask. He nods a little. "Ok...come to bed..." you mumble as you walk to the bedroom. He follows you, guilt sinking into his stomach.
He grabs your arm and sighs. "I really am sorry...I didn't mean to worry you..." he whispers.
You nod a little. "I know...but Shota, it's not just Eri and me now. We've got a whole other kid who needs us..." you say softly. He nods.
"I know...I'll be careful," he whispers. The two of you strip down and get into bed. He holds you close as you fall back into slumber, your head resting on his chest. He closes his eyes and sighs.
Yeah...he was still a shit boyfriend.
