Ryn's pov
The guy took us to his house and sat us on his couch. He sat down and softly rubbed the bruise on my face.
"Wow, that must have hurt." He said. He looked into my eyes, but the words came out to fast.
"No shit, it felt like heaven." I say sarcastically. His eyes widen at my rude comment, along with my moms. Ava is still kinda knocked out.
"Well, sorry. But maybe you shouldn't be talking to me like that since I did save you, your mother's, and Ava's life. Oh yeah, and your welcome." He says in a bitchy tone. But, I don't blame him. That's how I would respond to someone acting like a douche.
"Ugh, I'm sorry. I'm just angry at my dad, and thank you. A lot." I say. He smiles a little which means he accepted my apology, I hope.
"Well, I accept your apology. Now, I'm gonna go in my room and watch TV so I anyone needs anything, I'll just be down the hall." He says as he begins to walk away. But, I remembered on thing.
"Wait." I state quickly. "What's your name?" I ask.
"My name is Sam Pottorff and you are..."
"Ryn Woodson. This is my twin sister, Ava, and this is my mom, Karen." Mom waves her hand, but she's still in pain. Ava, on the other hand, just woke up. Sam waves at mom and Ava. Ava sits up in shock and confusion.
"Where am I?" She asked. Sam and I smile at her.
"Ava, we're at Sam's house. The one who saved us from dad." Ava nods and rubs her face in pain from dad's punch. Out of all of us, I have to say mom had it the worst. She had glass on the side of her face and she was really bloody on her face. All of out face were beat up, except Sam's, obviously. I sit on the arm of the couch and stare at Sam. Sam response with a half smile.

We all soon hear police sirens. We all get up from the couch and rush to the window. Of course, they came out with dad. The little abusive bitch was going to jail. Finally. The only that held me back from calling the cops in the first place was mom. Mom tried so hard t fix him, but he'd never listen. His daily routine was party, get drunk, and beat his daughter.
After they took him away, I felt safer. Mom, wasn't doing so well. Mom left the window and went into the bathroom. I followed her and knocked on the locked bathroom door.
"Who is it?" She said. Her voice was hoarse. I could tell she was upset. After all the comforting she's done for me, this is my time to do something for her.
"Mom, it's Ryn. Can you please let me in?" I ask politely. I stand there for a second, then mom finally opens the door.
"Hey Princess." My mom said while putting her hand on my cheek. Turns out she really was crying.
"Hey mommy." I say as I begin to tear. She wipes away the tear that slipped out of my eye.
"Princess don't cry." I curl my lips into a smile. Mom kissed my forehead.
"I could have made him a better man, Ryn, I could have taught him more." She cried. I shake my head.
"Mom, it's very hard to change a person if the person doesn't want to be changed." Mom smiles at my wise words at hugs me.
"That's my wise daughter." She says. I smile and try not to cry again. I had to stay strong for her. That's what she would do her me. A warrior can be weak, but must never show it, and that's what I'm doing.

"Mama, how did a wonderful person like you, end up with a monster like him?" I asked. I've wondered this all my life. I just never had the guts to ask.
"It all started in high school, I was a shy girl and your father was a fun, crazy, and outrageous person. Anyway, one day in the coffee shop and he came and talked to me. After that, we began dating. We were the cutest couple in school as people would say. He taught me how to live and not be so shy and scared of the world. One night, he took me to this party with drugs and alcohol, and I didn't want to go. But, I trusted your father and went. We ended both getting drunk, and I'm sure you know what happened after that. Ever since that party, he was addicted to alcohol. The only reason why I married him was because I loved him. He taught me how to live, and I wanted to teach him how to be a good father. That didn't work out."
"Mom, I'm so sorry that happened to you." I said. Even though I wasn't the cause of this, I still felt bad. I mean she's my mother who's done nothing but protect him for years.
"Ryn, you're not the one who needs to sorry." She says. And she's right. She won't be hurting if it wasn't for dad. All of this is his fault.
"But listen Ryn, don't get yourself hurt from trying to make him apologize." I make a shocked face.
"How did you know that's what I was thinking?" I ask. She gives me a clever look.
"I'm your mother, I know how your evil mind works." She teases as she she pinches my nose and smiles. I give a smile laugh and hug my mom.
"I love you, Ryn." She says. I smile the crook of her neck.
"I love you too mom." I say. She breaks the hug at holds on firmly to my shoulders. She looks into my eyes and smiles.
"You're my brave little girl." I smile.
"I love you, mom....again." I say. She gives me a small smile.
"I love you too. Remember that. Okay?"
"Okay."
