"Let go your earthly tether. Enter the void. Empty and become wind. Empty and become wind." Zaheer chants as he meditates in the air temple.

P'Li walks into the room, "The airbenders are secured."

"Thank you, P'Li. For everything."

"Of course." She turns to leave.

Zaheer stands up, "I want you to know: not one day went by in that prison when I didn't think of you."

P'Li walks up to Zaheer, "The years apart only made my love for you stronger. And deep down I knew you would find a way to get me out. Just like you saved me from becoming that warlord's killing machine when I was a girl. You've shown me what true freedom means."

"And after today," Zaheer clasps his hand with P'Li's, "we'll show the entire world what it means. No more prisons, no more running."

"I love you, Zaheer."

"I love you too."

Suyin's airship docks at the bottom of Laghima's Peak. Tonraq and Suyin walks outside while Lin and Toph talks to Team Avatar on the mouth of the airship.

Lin passes a radio to Sokka as she addresses the team going to retrieve the airbenders, "Radio the second you see those airbenders."

"I will, Chief." Mako replies, "Good luck."

Lin nods to Mako before walking out.

"You guys be careful." Toph says, "If any of you die I will kill you."

"Noted." Aang says with a small smile.

"I mean it, Twinkletoes. You die and I'll make Korra's life living hell."

"Yeah, please don't die." Korra said.

"I'll be fine guys. I've survived worse."

Aang and Sokka hug everyone before walking out of the airship. Once they leave the airship takes off and Aang watches it fly off.

"Aang." Sokka said.

Aang looks at his friend, "Don't worry, Sokka. I'll be all right."

"I just want you to know, even though I didn't trust you when we first met... you quickly became my best friend. You showed me that you can fight a war and have fun."

Aang smiles, "And we'll also become brothers in the future."

Sokka laughs, "We're gonna drive Katara crazy."

Aang laughs as well as the two hug. When they pull away, Aang addresses Korra's dad, "Tonraq, watch out for Zaheer. He's not very fond of world leaders."

"I can handle him." Tonraq replies, "Just stay focused on your mission."

Tonraq and the metalbenders scale up the mountain until they are obscured from view by the clouds. Aang opens his glider and grabs onto Sokka before flying them both up the mountain.

The airship approaches the Northern Air Temple. Team Avatar surveys the damage from inside the ship with worried looks.

"Oh, man." Bolin said.

"They really put up a fight." Zuko added.

"Mako, did you see the airbenders?" Sokka asks from the radio.

"Not yet. We're just arriving." Mako replies, "Don't let Aang turn himself over until I get a visual on them."

Asami steers the airship to the temple, while Bolin and Korra ties the tethering ropes. They approach the temple to see Ghazan awaiting them.

"This way." Ghazan says. Team Avatar glares at him with suspicion, "You want the airbenders, or not?"

Ghazan walks into the temple, which Team Avatar follows.

Meanwhile, Aang flies down to Laghima's Peak with Sokka, where Zaheer and P'Li are waiting with Katara. He snaps his glider closed once they land.

"Drop your staff and surrender yourself." Zaheer demands.

"Aang, don't do it!" Katara exclaims.

"Quiet girl!" P'Li commands.

"They don't have sight on the airbenders yet." Sokka whispers to Aang.

Aang stands still and keeps his eyes on Katara. She had several scratches on her and dried blood was on her face and head. She was also covered in dirt and her hands were tied behind her back.

"Don't make me come get you." Zaheer threatens.

Aang remains defiant and remains still.

At the Northern Air Temple, Ghazan leads Team Avatar to the captured airbenders, where Tenzin is chained to the floor and gagged, while the other airbenders are bound up and hooded.

"Mako, what's going on?" Sokka asks.

"They're here. And so is the lavabender." Mako replies.

"Tell Ghazan to let the airbenders go."

"Not 'til you turn yourself over. This isn't a negotiation." Zaheer says. He addresses Ghazan with his own radio, "Wipe them out!"

"No! Wait." Aang says as he hands his glider to Sokka, "Let Katara go and I'll come."

"Very well."

P'Li removes the cuffs from Katara as Aang begins towards them and P'Li pushes the waterbender forward. Katara stumbles a bit before quickly walking up to Aang.

Katara hugs him, "Aang, you can't do this."

Aang pulls away and holds her face in his hands, "I have to Katara." He pushes some of her hair out if her face, "Don't worry, I'll be okay."

Aang softly kisses her. Tears fall down Katara's face as she returns the kiss. When they pull away, Aang wipes away her tears and smiles at her before guiding her to Sokka and walking up to Zaheer and P'Li.

P'Li cuffs Aang's wrists as Zaheer talks into his radio, "We have him."

Ghazan gestures to Team Avatar, who run toward Tenzin. Tenzin shakes his head.

"It's okay, Tenzin." Korra says, "We're about to get you out of here."

Zuko walks up to the airbenders, only to see them collapse into a pool of water and Ming-Hua seated among the decoys. Ming-Hua rushes to attack Team Avatar, which Zuko blocks the attack with fire.

"Sokka, it was a trick!" Mako exclaims, "They're not here. Don't let Aang turn himself over!"

"Aang, it was a trap!" Sokka exclaims.

Aang's eyes widen, "We had a deal!" He struggles against his restraints and airbends with his feet, separating Zaheer and P'Li.

Sokka talks into the radio again, this time addressing the metalbenders, "Lin, we need you up here! They tricked us!"

Lin's eyes widen before a determined look crossed her face, "Go! Go!"

The metalbenders ascend the mountain. Meanwhile, Aang firebends and earthbends at Zaheer, who dodges all the attacks. Aang tries to regain his ground, but is stopped by his shackles. Zaheer airbends him off his feet and slams him down with an air blast.

"They took my water pouch!" Katara says to Sokka, "I can't help him!"

"Don't worry sis, backup is coming!"

At that moment, the metalbenders reach the peak of the mountainside and engages with P'Li.

"Get the Avatar on the airship." P'Li says, "I'll deal with them."

P'Li runs forward and directs a combustion beam at Tonraq and the metalbenders. Lin manages to dodge the attack, but two metalbenders were thrown off the peak and fire a cable to ascend the peak again. Lin dodges another combustion beam and sends two earth slabs to P'Li.

Suyin joins in and sends another slab. P'Li destroys a slab with combustion and avoids the other two.

Toph covers herself with a rock armor to protect herself from P'Li's blasts as she sends constant attacks at her.

"I brought an extra water pouch!" Tonraq says as he tosses a pouch to Katara.

Katara catches it with a smile, "Thanks."

She puts on the new water pouch and looks up to see Zaheer pushing Aang into the airship. Katara quickly uncaps the pouch and uses the water to help her climb up the airship. She attacks Zaheer as Aang moves out of the way and falls off the airship. Katara catches Aang with her waterbending and sends him toward Zaheer, where he sends a point-blank fire kick. Zaheer protects himself with airbending, but is thrown back.

Katara cuts the tethering ropes with water whips, causing the airship to fly off. She directs the whips. to Zaheer.

Meanwhile, at the Northern Air Temple, Ming-Hua scales the walls and lands next to Ghazan. Ghazan directs lava to Bolin, who blocks with an earth column. Mako runs up and firebends, as does Zuko and Korra, while Asami tends to Tenzin.

"Where are the airbenders?" Asami asks.

"I don't know." Tenzin replies, "Zaheer moved them out of the temple."

Mako firebends at Ming-Hua, who stops the attack with her water arms.

"Won't you just bury them already?" Ming-Hua says to Ghazan.

Ghazan leaps forward, lavabending a large portion of the floor, before spreading it across the room. As they exit, Ghazan lavabends the exit path. Asami looks on in fear as she picks Tenzin's shackles with her hairpin.

"Come on." Asami punches the hairpin, freeing Tenzin before supporting him, "We have to get to the airship."

"Not gonna happen." Bolin replies, "The exit's blocked."

Bolin bends the tiles beneath, forming a barricade to stop the lava flow. A pillar collapses and Korra adds more to the barricade with her earthbending. Tenzin groans, prompting Mako to run up and support him.

"Where's Oogi?" Asami asks.

"Gone. All the bison got scared off during the attack. But, I think I know another way out. Bolin, Korra, can you get us to that wall?"

Korra nods, "On it!"

Korra and Bolin bends the wall behind them. Outside the temple, Ghazan lavabends the entire exit path before taking over Suyin's airship with Ming-Hua. As the airship takes off, a portion of the garden collapses.

Team Avatar escapes to a meditation room. Bolin notices the lava approaching and blocks off the flow.

"Through there." Tenzin says.

Korra opens the floor board and the group enters the tunnel, where Mako and Zuko firebends to provide some light.

"Is it just me, or is it uh, getting really warm in here?" Bolin said as he noticeably got uncomfortable. Then he notices the approaching lava, "Oh, this is not good." He blocks the lava flow again, "Let's move it, people!"

At Laghima's Peak, P'Li continues to bombard the metalbenders. Aang kicks a boulder to Zaheer while Katara sends more water whips to him. Zaheer airbends the assault and creates a wind gust to Katara. She dodges and sends more water to attack Zaheer. The boulder Aang kicked flew toward Zaheer, but he easily dodges and punches some air gusts to Katara until she falls down.

Aang stands up, creating some earth cracks which the airbender dodges. Katara bends an ice spear on his forearm, with her remaining water supply, and attempts to stab Zaheer, who dodges her attack and manages to ensnare Katara in a small tornado.

"Say hello to the Earth Queen for me." Zaheer says before throwing Katara off the cliff.

"Katara!" Aang yelled as tears streamed down his face.

Anger instantly settled in and the Avatar looked at Zaheer like he was prepared to kill. Aang broke his cuffs by hitting them really hard on a sharp rock. He faced Zaheer as the air around him began blowing hard.

Meanwhile, P'Li directs combustion attacks toward Toph, who dodges the attacks before regrouping with Sokka and her two daughters, who have already taken cover.

"We're pinned down." Suyin says.

"Someone needs to draw her fire so I can get a shot on her." Sokka says as he takes out his boomerang, "Then someone else can take her out while she's down."

"I'll do both." Toph says.

"What?" Lin asks as Suyin says, "No!" At the same time.

P'Li directs combustion beams to the group, who shield themselves.

"I can do it. We've fought someone with this bending before." Toph pauses for a second before continuing, "Since I've been getting all mushy lately, I just wanted to say that... I'm proud of both you girls. And I'm sorry I wasn't a great a mother. Hopefully this experience will change that for when you two come into my life."

Without another word, Toph runs from the rock and leaps to the terrain, "Come and get me three eyes!"

Toph leaps up the slope to avoid P'Li's combustion beam before retaliating with an earth slap. P'Li destroys the slab while Sokka glances out looking for the right moment. Toph sends two earth slabs to P'Li, who dodges and retaliates with combustion beams.

Toph dodges the attack and bends an earth wall to protect herself from another beam, but is knocked toward the edge. Toph props herself up. While P'Li prepares to finish her, Sokka runs out of his cover and throws his boomerang toward P'Li's eye.

P'Li noticed the boomerang coming at her and steps back to dodge it. Sokka's eyes widen in surprise since he thought she was distracted.

P'Li turns her attention to Sokka and prepares to attack him. Suyin jumps out from her cover and sends some of her armor to P'Li's head, containing the blast.

Zaheer who turns back in horror, staring at the resulting explosion, "P'Li!"

Zaheer looks at the fight sadly. Aang seizes the moment of distraction and sends an air swipe at him. Zaheer dodges the attack and sends an air blast to Aang.

Aang dodges and sends fire at him, which Zaheer pushes back with air. The fire comes back at Aang, making him cover his face. This gave Zaheer the chance to knock him out with an air blast.

Zaheer carries Aang and walks to the edge, watching the unmanned airship fly off. Suyin, Lin, Toph and Sokka ascend the peak, landing behind Zaheer.

"It's over, Zaheer." Suyin says.

"Let go your earthly tether."

"Release the Avatar." Lin says.

"Enter the void."

"This is your last warning!" Toph says.

"Empty, and become wind." Zaheer steps back, falling off the peak.

"No! Stop!" Sokka exclaims.

The four run up to the edge, where they see Zaheer floating in mid-air. Lin and Suyin fire cables at Zaheer, who dodges the attack and flies off to Suyin's airship.

"Did he just, fly?" Lin asked in disbelief.

"Without a glider too." Sokka said as he gripped Aang's glider tightly.

Zaheer zooms past. Ghazan and Ming-Hua watch this in disbelief.

On the side of the mountain, Kuvira clings on with one of her cables while Katara grabs on to the other. She looks up and sees the Red Lotus fleeing with her boyfriend.

Tears filled Katara's eyes, "Aang."

Zaheer flies past the temple where Team Avatar was still in the tunnel.

"We can't outrun it!" Bolin says as the tunnel glows orange, "This way."

Bolin and Korra bends a tunnel on the side of the path, the group enters the tunnel before the lava approaches them.

"Now what?" Zuko asks

The group turns back to see the lava approaching the tunnel. Bolin walks toward the lava and stretches out his hands.

"Bolin!" Korra exclaims.

As Bolin groans, the lava flies above him. He brings his hands together, pushing the lava back and solidifying it.

"Incredible." Tenzin says.

"You're a lavabender." Mako says in amazement

"I know. I just found out." Bolin replied.

Kai suddenly flies toward the hole atop a baby bison, "Hey, you guys need a lift?"

"Kai. You're all right." Tenzin says in relief.

"More or less. Everyone hop on."

Tenzin climbs onto the bison first, followed by Asami. Mako follows suit, causing the bison to lose altitude. As Korra climbs onto Lefty, he groans from the impact.

"You sure he can carry all of us?" Zuko asks.

"We don't really have much choice right now." Kai replies.

Zuko and Bolin climb onto Lefty, who loses altitude a bit. The bison leaves the temple with a bit of a struggle. Tenzin looks back sadly as the temple begins to collapse.
