《Control (Book 1 of Control Series)》Chapter 67

When we left Rosaline's side, I felt angry and snappy. I didn't want to collect Dylan's stupid file, I wanted to sing with Rosaline again and hear her laughter when I messed up a lyric or when my voice cracked when I tried to sing high pitch. Instead I left her all alone, no once glancing back because I knew that if I did I would've left Dylan and watched TV with my babygirl. I even told her we wouldn't be long and a hour passed.

She must be upset, I think as I walk out Dylan's office and navigate my way to the entertainment room. "Rosaline I'm sorry I-." I look at the couch to see Rosaline is not there. The TV is off. I sigh. Where did she go? Maybe to the bathroom. I walk to the nearest bathroom to see it's empty. I check all the other bathrooms and see they too are empty. Maybe she got hungry. I check the kitchen. No one's there. I check all the mini bars and she wasn't their either. I couldn't help but feel relief that she's not at any of the mini bar. I wouldn't want to punish my babygirl. I turn in a slow circle before running down the hall and head in the dining room and then I check the basement. When she isn't there I begin to panic. "Rosaline," I call. "Rosaline." I spend the next few minutes running around yelling her name probably looking like a lunatic. She doesn't answer to any of my calls and I can feel my heart pounding and I think I'm about to have a heart attack.

"Rosaline!"

"Rosaline!"

"Rosa- Jared, what the fuck," Dylan interrupts with a yell. "I c-c-can't f-find h-her," I stutter, the fear and panic obvious in my voice. "What do you mean you can't find her," Dylan asks and I feel myself snap. "I MEAN I CAN'T FIND HER!" I shriek. "I looked in the bathrooms, I looked in the kitchen, I look in the basement, I looked in the mini bar. I looked everywhere and I can't find her." Tears a streaming down my face. "I should've never left her on the couch alone, what if someone kidnapped her or if she ran away. Why would she run away? Why w-."

SMACK

My eyes widen in shock as the stinging on my cheek registrars. Did he just smack me? "Why would you do that," I yell, anger replacing my panic. Dylan just stares at me calm and collected. "You were becoming hysteric and I don't have time to sooth you out of it when we need to find Rosaline." His tone is cold and calm and his face betrays no emotion. "Now we're going to call Sebastian and try to find Rosaline. Okay?" I slowly nod and he turns and walks away.
