《Control (Book 1 of Control Series)》Chapter 35

None of us took our cars and instead we all rode over in a limo. The whole way was filled with silence all of us in our own heads stuck with our own thoughts. When we got to the Barrick's home none of us waited for the driver to get the door and instead opened the doors and walked out. Looking up at the house I don't know how my babygirl lived in this place. Even though it might sound weird but, the house gives off kind of a cold, unwelcoming vibe. When you have children or a child isn't your house supposed to be warm and welcoming?

We walk up the stone steps and I knock hard on the door. We wait for a few seconds and Mrs. Barrick wearing a black pencil skirt and a light pink blouse answers the door with strained smile. "O Mr. Garonna hello, I see you brought some friends. Come in, come in." She opens the door wider and Dylan, Sebastian and I walk into the Barrick's home. "We need to talk to you and your husband," I say. "Where is he," Dylan demands in a rather rude tone but, I don't correct him. "H-he's in his office," she stutters and I inwardly chuckle. "Lead us to him," Sebastian demands and she pales. I roll my eyes as she turns around and scurries to her husband's office Dylan, Sebastian and I trailing behind her. When she gets to her husband's office she hesitates before, knocking causing me to raise a brow. Is she scared to knock on her husband's door? "Woman what do you want," he yells and she jumps. "We have some visitors with some urgent business." What the hell. I look at Dylan and Sebastian seeing the same expression on their faces. 1) why would she have to knock and 2) why is he yelling at his wife like that? You should never talk to a woman like that because, they demand respect. I hear a mumbled curse just as Mrs.Barrick opens the door and Mr.Barrick looks at us with what I think he thinks is a welcoming smile. It's been a while since I've been in his office and it hasn't changed much. A mahogany wood desk with a leather rolling chair that sat behind the desk which Mr. Garonna was currently sitting on. In front of the desk is 2 mahogany wooden chair that looks very uncomfortable to sit on. To the right of the desk to the far end of the room is a wooden fire place with an empty mantel. To the left of him is a flat screen TV and small couch along with a glass case that's filled with all different types of liquors. The room is rectangular and unnecessary large like the rest of the house and has a cold vibe to it. No wonder they were in debt, I think. "Well Mr. Garonna what a surprise and I see you've bought some friends." He looks at Sebastian and Dylan with weary eyes.

Dylan walks forward and sits himself in front of Mr.Barrick's desks. "We came to talk about Rosaline," he said getting to the point. Mr.Barrick raises an eyebrow his fake smile dropping. "I don't know why, because, I believe that she belongs to you," he drawls pointing a stubby finger at me. I roll my eyes and take a seat in the chair next to Dylan's. "We need to know about Rosaline's history." He eyes flash with panic and perspiration covers his forehead causing me to narrow my eyes. They're hiding something. I take a glance at Dylan to see his eyes are also narrow. "What is her history before, the age of 5," Sebastian asks and both Mr. and Mrs.Barrick pale. Interesting. Mrs.Barrick opens her mouth to say something but, a look from Mr.Barrick has her shutting her mouth quick. "We would rather not talk about because, it was such a sad time. Honey why don't you go fix dinner." She doesn't even wait until he's done before, scurrying out the door. "Then tell us about her childhood was she bullied, did she struggle with anything internal," Dylan asks seeming frustrated.

He sighs and rubs his temples. "She was bullied a lot growing up and she did struggle with depression but, with the right amount of pills she was good as new. That's all there is to it, nothing important." I bristle. What do you mean having to take pills for depression is nothing important," I grit out and Dylan grunts. He shrugs and I growl. "What were those kids doing to her," Sebastian asks even though we already know the worst of it. "They teased her and inflicted pain on her sometimes." He says it so nonchalantly it makes me want to punch him in the face. "They hit her and you didn't do anything about it," Dylan yells and I bite my lip to keep back from yelling at him too. "We tried everything moving her from school to school, I guess she's just made to picked on." That's when I lost my shit. "What kind of father are you," I roar. "She's been getting beaten by kids and has gone through god knows what causing her to go through depression having to take pills and you say it's because, she's made for bullying." My fist ball up and I'm about to punch him when Sebastian beats me to it. To say I was shocked was an understatement. I've known Sebastian all my life and not once have I seen him hit somebody. Mr.Barrick goes flying out his chair and grabbing Sebastian I rush out the office Dylan on my heels. I know my grip is tight on Sebastian's arm but, he doesn't say anything about it probably in shock. We're just about to exit the house when Mrs.Barrick comes rushing towards us with a piece of paper in her hand. "Mr.Garonna-not now," I interrupt still pissed because, of her husband. Still she comes over and shoves the piece of paper in my hands. "Rosaline is not her real name and the face she wears isn't hers." I frown. What? I open my mouth to ask her something else but, she hurries off making me close my mouth. We exit the house and I look down at the piece of paper in my hand.
