《Control (Book 1 of Control Series)》Chapter 25

After Sebastian left I was tempted to stay in my new room and look through it's library. I was also tempted to explore the house. The temptation to explore the house won and I opened the door and peeked my head out into the hall seeing it bathed in light. Wow, I think. So many windows. Which means there's nowhere to hide you ugly face. Silently closing the door I tip toe down the hall. I assume that Sebastian lives alone and from the clean bed I saw after my shower I also assume that he has servants.

So of course, I knew that there was going to be noise. However, I didn't expect to hear a song talking about monkeys jumping off a bed. I followed the music to which lead me to a baby blue colored door with the name BRIAN spelled in big block letters. Curious I opened the door and sitting on the floor was the cutest little boy I've ever seen. Curly brown hair that reached his small shoulders and grass green eyes that were wide and doe like. There were freckles that sprinkled across his chubby cheeks and his button nose. His lips were pouty and pink covered in siliva and were making noise as he moved his hand that clutched a toy airplane. Before, I could stop myself a loud "awwww" escaped my lips. The boy stopped what he was doing and turned his head in my direction. I expected him to scream "stranger danger," but, instead his mouth opened to reveal a toothless grin. I stood frozen in the doorway and he took that as an opportunity to get up and wobble towards me and crash into my legs. I still stood stock still as the boy looked up and me with a cute smile.

"I Burian," he slurs and I furrow my brow. "Brian," I ask. He nods and lifts his arms, his fists clenching and unclenching. I didn't know what that meant so I just stared at him. "Up," he said and stomps his foot letting me know he's getting impatient. With a chuckle I bend down and pick him up setting him on my hip. For a few moments I stand in the doorway like an idiot not knowing what to do next. So I look at Brian and Brian looks at me. For the next few moments we just stare at each other until, both of our tummys give an audible growl. "Food," said Brian and I laugh as he curls my hair between his chubby little fingers. I begin walking only to stop when I realize I don't know where the kitchen is. "Brian?" He tugs on my hair. "Hm." "Where's the kitchen?" He shrugs. "I don kno." I look into his big green eyes and sigh. This is going to be a long day.

I don't know how long it's been but, I know it's been about half an hour because, I can feel my stomach eating itself. I look over at Brian to his lip trembling and tears pooling at his eyes lids. "I hungy," he sniffles and the waterworks start. "No don't cry," I coo. I watch as the tears stream down his cheeks and look around in panic as he starts to wail. "C-Calm down," I say panicking. Instead he wails even louder and I do the only thing I could think of. Sing.

"Hush, little Baby, don't say a word,

Mama's gonna buy you a Mockingbird.

And if that mockingbird don't sing,

Mama's gonna buy you a diamond ring.

And if that diamond ring turns brass,

Mama's gonna buy you a looking glass.

And if that looking glass is broke,

Mama's gonna buy you a billy goat,

And if that billy goat won't pull,

Mama's gonna buy you a cart and a bull.

And if that cart and bull turn over,

Mama's gonna buy you a dog named Rover.

And if that dog named Rover won't bark,

Mama's gonna buy you a horse and a cart.

And if that horse and cart fall down,

You'll still be the sweetest little baby in town."

Once I'm done not only out of breath, Brian is passed out on my shoulder. I breathe a sigh of relief. "Who the hell are you?" I jump and almost drop Brian. In front of me are two teenage boys who happen to be twins. Instead of feeling relieved that someone finally came I felt uneasy. "I'm Rosaline," I say. "Who are you?" The one on the left scoffs. "It doesn't matter who we are," the right one says. "Why are you here?" "And why do you have our little brother," the one on the left finishes. "Uh..." I feel my breath quicken. "What cat got your tongue," asks the one on the right. "No, it's just..." I take a deep breath. "Sebastian brought me here and said I could explore, so I was walking around when I met Brian and he said he was hungry so I tried to find the kitchen only to get lost," I quickly explain. Moments pass and they just stare at me. I hop from foot to foot while balancing Brian in my arms. The one on the right comes up to me and reaches for Brian but, I pull him away. "I don't know who you are and if you are or aren't a danger to Brian." He raises a brow and the boy next to him laughs.

"Well, well looks like shorty here is protective." I bristle. I'm a shorty yes, but that doesn't mean I like people calling me one. The left one laughs again when he sees my anger. "The one who called you shorty is Kyle and I'm Riley," he introduces. "Brian is our little brother." I look from Brian to Kyle and Riley then again. They look nothing alike. Where Brian has brown hair they have red and where Brian's eyes is green theirs is blue. Kyle sighs clearly frustrated. "We have different mothers stupid." I flinch. He didn't have to call me stupid. Even though it's the truth. I sigh and give Brian to Riley. Turning around I go and try to find my room.
