《Control (Book 1 of Control Series)》Chapter 23

When I woke up I was incredibly hot. Like I'm about to die from a heat stroke hot. I immediately throw the covers off my body and find out why. I'm in a fur bunny onesie with layers of blankets on top of me. I sit up and cringe as I'm covered in sweat. I look at my surroundings and my jaw drops. O my god. The room isn't your typical pink but, a nice shimmery gold. In my opinion it's better than my room at both Jared and Dylan's place.
I look down to see that just like my room at Dylan and Jared's place the bed was a million feet off the ground. "Do these people not understand that I'm below average human height," I whisper. It's then that I spot the little steps and walk down them. I look around and go to the first door I see thankful that it's the bathroom. I do need a good shower, I think and thankfully I can shower myself. I'm surprised when I see a towel and washcloth on the toilet lid and a shirt and skirt hung up by the mirror. Not a dress. I sigh. But, still no pants.
I first go to the sink and take out my brown eyes contacts. I haven't had a chance to take them out and they've really been irritating my eyes. I then grab the wash cloth and turn on the shower to an icy cold to cool down my skin. I sigh in content. Grabbing the body wash I squeeze out a good amount before, scrubbing my body. Once I start to shiver I turn on the hot water and rinse myself off. I wash myself and rinse off again before, washing my hair. After, I grab the blue towel and wrap it around my body.

I then do something I haven't done in a while. Look at myself in the mirror and I'm surprised at what I'm looking at. My hair was no longer a dyed auburn but, a natural mocha brown that's in wet curls all the way down to my butt. My eyes that are a nice fuzzy mix of green and blue are no longer lifeless but, nice and bright. My face is getting fuller and my body has put on some much needed weight. Ha ha you're getting fat. I shake my head. No, I'm getting healthy. The scars that I've been so ashamed of are starting to fade especially the set of tears on over my heart. At first I'm happy and then I panic. The last time Sebastian saw me my hair was red and now it's brown. He's going to know that I dyed it. Then he's going to ask why I dyed it. A question that I can't answer.
A knock sounds on the door and I jump. "W-Who is it," I ask. Instead of getting an answer the door opens and I bang my body against it slamming it close. "I'm not dressed yet," I say quickly, when the door opens again. I wait. Nothing. Seeing it as my chance to get dressed I quickly get dressed before, opening the door and peeking my head out. Sitting on the now made up bed is Sebastian who is now staring at me with a blank face. I slowly stand in front of the door our eyes connect and I'm surprised when see laughter. Furrowing my brows in confusion I look down at myself. I have no shoes and my toenails have chipped nail polish but, that's not something to laugh about. I look at my skirt and frown when I see the size tag sticking out and realize not only is the tag sticking out but, my skirt is backwards. From the tip of my chin to the tip of my hairline my face was as red as a tomato.

I rush into the bathroom and take off my skirt putting it on the right way. I look into the mirror and realize that the ruffles on my blouse aren't visible and it takes me a second to realize I also have my shirt on backwards. I groan and I hear Sebastian laugh. Even want to die from embarrassment, I have to admit though that I like his laugh. I fan my burning face and freeze when I again look in the mirror. Not only did I forget about my hair, I forgot to put my contacts in.

Book 1 HomeLessBook 2 ReckLessBook 3 SenseLessBeing homeless isn't the end of the world. At least, that's what Zachary thought when he found himself on the streets after being kicked out at seventeen. It hadn't been his fault. His father had used him as a scapegoat and won his mother over, thinking that her husband was telling the truth about his cheating and that Zachary was the one who was bringing women over, trying to ruin their marriage. He'd argued his side, but once his mother decided on something, her mind would not be changed. That's how he came to live in the alley near the end of 73rd street between the old bakery and a laundromat. It wasn't anything special, but after three years he'd managed to spruce up the place and make it almost-bearable to live in. Over the years he'd made friends with random people he often passed on the streets and did manage to hold down a few random jobs, but like everything else, they came, then went. Now he was left with fifteen dollars and twenty-two cents, a torn blanket, one outfit, and a dream for a better life. He just didn't know that he'd find it somewhere he'd never thought to look... or with someone he never knew he'd want.
