《Of Demigods and Wizards》In Which a Cyclops Chases a Demigod, a Spellcaster, & a Priestess around a city

While Ron and Jacquelyn were on their way to Atlanta, Percy, Annabeth, and Grover were standing by the River Styx, hoping that Tyson would show up.
"Where is he?" Grover cried out in frustration. "We've been waiting for him to show up for five minutes now. This is ridiculous!"
"Grover, chill!" Percy snapped at him. "He'll be here soon."
"Good," said Annabeth. "I have a bad feeling about this. I thought Luke said that we can't leave the camp."
"I know," said Percy, "but this is Ron that we're dealing with. He's a demigod, and as such, we can't have an untrained demigod running around unchecked, can we?"
The others nodded as they waited for Tyson to show up. Within a few minutes, a large seahorse came into view. A small boy was sitting on it. Little did anyone know that the boy in question was really a young Cyclops. And if Jacquelyn was still around, she could tell them that the Cyclops was the son of Poseidon and a random nymph.
Tyson smiled and waved to Percy. "Hey, Tyson," he said. Annabeth said, "We need a ride."
"And kind of make it quick, we're on an important mission," Grover cut in.
Tyson whistled and several giant seahorses showed up. Percy said, "Well, are we leaving or not?"

Jacquelyn said, "Ron, I think this isn't the right city."
Ron frowned as he saw what Jacquelyn was talking about. There were too many people who were not Greek descent walking around the city. The place was crowded, and who knew what monsters were lurking in the shadows. He said, "I think we may have made a mistake leaving Camp Half-Blood."
"Whatever, we still need to find the king's tomb," said Jacquelyn.

They quickly stepped off the bus and began walking. People everywhere took no notice of them as they went from place to place. This felt comforting to Ron, but it unnerved Jacquelyn. She frowned as she took stock of the situation; there appeared to be no signs that directed them to any tombs at all.
There's got to be a way we can get there, she thought to herself. I don't know where they got the idea that we should go to the king's tomb, but whoever came up with that idea obviously didn't come here.
Just then, an older woman approached the kids and said, "You kids need a ride?"
"Only if you're a priestess," Ron said.
"Does she have to be a priestess?" Jacquelyn snappped at Ron.
"Yes, she has to be a priestess," said Ron. "Plus, who else takes care of the city?"
"We're trying to get to a king's tomb, which is located somewhere in this city," said Jacquelyn to the old woman.
The old woman said, "You must be searching for a king's tomb."
"Well, let's just say that we don't know where this king's tomb is and we kind of need your help," said Jacquelyn. Just then, a huge Cyclops was spotted rushing toward them. Ron said, "Run for your lives!"
The old woman snatched the kids and loaded them into her car. She drove off just as the Cyclops began smashing several cars. The people living in the area saw the Cyclops and fled from their homes.

Percy and the others had reached Atlanta in record time, only to see the news of a Cyclops attacking a car that was flying down the highway. They all gasped in horror knowing that Ron and Jacquelyn were in the car. "This is really bad," he cried out as Annabeth pulled out her sword. "The Cyclops is running around the city and he's after Ron and Jacquelyn."

"We have to save them," said Annabeth. "I know the Cyclops wouldn't attack any random car. Jacquelyn and Ron are in the city!"
"Yes," Grover said as they took off after the Cyclops. "We have to find them, and fast!"
*-*-*-*-*-*-*
The Cyclops continued chasing the car around the city. Jacquelyn tried shooting at him a few times, but the monster swatted away her arrows like they were bothersome flies. "Got any more bright ideas?" she cried out.
In response, the old woman pulled out a gun from her handbag. "My name is Medea, and you will not take me!" She began shooting at the Cyclops, who roared at her with anger and eventually disappeared.
"Medea?" said Ron.
"She is a priestess!" Jacquelyn cried out. "Only a priestess can defend the city!"
Medea continued shooting as she drove by a graveyard. "Uh, I hate to be a bother, but the tombs are that way," Ron cried as he pointed to the graveyard."
"We're not going there," said Medea. "We're going to the church!"
"What church?" said Ron. "Since when do they bury their kings in the church?"
"Maybe this is a cryptic message," Jacquelyn said as she glared at Ron. "What did the oracle say regarding the king's tomb?"
Ron pulled out the message, which read, "Monsters are on the loose, and only you can stop them. You must retrieve the weapons at the grave of a king, a silver gate, and a city that goes on for a mile. Be forewarned, as there are those who will try to stop you." He said, "There's nothing in here about where the king's tomb is located."
"Well, this sucks," Jacquelyn said quietly as the car pulled over to a huge building. She tumbled out the car and laid on the sidewalk, unable to move. Ron also got out and threw up. Medea said to them, "And when you kids are done dying, I've got something to show you."
At this point, Percy, Annabeth, Grover, and Tyson found them lying in front of a building. "Hey, what's that?" Jacquelyn said as she pointed to a sign that was in front of the building. The sign said "Welcome to the The Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change."

Dungeon's Path
The only places I have posted the story and allow it to exist are on RoyalRoad, Scribblehub, and my Patreon. So the world ended. Whoopsie? We didn’t even see it coming. Quite literally as it came at us faster than the speed of light. Don’t worry though, it got better. Also, I am not joking about the world ending. Most people say that and mean humans are inconvenienced for some reason. Nope, all matter disintegrated at the atomic scale there for a few moments. Apparently the local universe wasn’t actually stable? Don’t ask me to go into too much detail. It would require both of us to have a few more college degrees than sense, and I at least lack them (both the degrees and the sense). Anyway, the energy/matter/wibbly wobbly strings were at a local minimum and not the universal minimum. Basically, what we took for sea level was actually a nice little mountain lake and when the dam busted so did, well, everything. Now here is where things go a bit off track with what normal meant before. You see magic is real, qi is real, gods are real. Not on old Earth mind you but souls pay little attention to time and space so we dreamed of it. In fact, the closer the shift in reality got to Earth, the closer our dreams got to the new reality. This is basically me tip toeing around the fact that it was a ‘System Apocalypse’. Reality became a video game, I became a dungeon, and this is my story. Doyle Huxley just wanted a normal life but as the above might clue you in on that just isn’t in the cards. He gets to experience a “Path Based System Apocalypse” and some early paths he takes, both literally and figuratively, lead to him becoming a dungeon. The aim is to release chapters once a week on Friday. Cursing will be avoided and no naughty adult action will take place in the story.

Charles Monroe survived the disappearance of his parents, did his best to hold things together for himself and his sister. He survived when she, too, vanished, leaving behind nothing but a cryptic note. He was devastated, but he kept moving forward as best he could. Cancer didn’t put him down, and after suffering through several rounds of chemotherapy, Charles Monroe thought that things might finally be looking up. That is, until a virulent strain of ebola swept through the city. With his immune system strained as it is, the odds don’t look good for Charles. Now, on the bridge between life and death, he hears a voice claiming to know where his family went. It claims that it needs his help and that it can give him a second life, one far away from all the pain he’s ever known. So, Charles answers as any reasonable person would. He says no. Charles isn't ready or willing to die yet. But, as with everything else to this point, even his choice to keep fighting is taken from him all too soon. With no other option but the dark oblivion of death, Charles chooses to make a deal with the spirit of a distant world that's seeking a wild card in its battle against the gods, monsters, and mortals that threaten its existence. Someday, he’ll find where his family went. Someday, he’ll uphold his end of the bargain and hunt beings powerful beyond anything he’s ever known. Someday, he might even – hatch? “CHEEP!?” Things to Know: -Cheep!? Will release on a minimum weekly schedule. -After a backlog of chapters, posting will slow, but in the interim you can expect a chapter a day up until roughly 25 chapters. -This story at times will potentially carry some heavy moments, but the tone is intended to be lighter overall. -There are invisible game-like elements in this story, but nothing so concrete as a dedicated gamelit novel. -I personally have some issues with anxiety, so I may or may not interact with the community a lot. I'll try if anyone has questions, but I can't guarantee that it'll be consistent. -MC is a non-human lead, and will never actually become human. Romance will potentially happen between side-characters, but not with the MC. -MC IS NOT THE ONLY VIEW POINT. I have to put that out there because people sometimes hate alternate PoV's in a story. None of them will be filler, and they'll be there only to give a little bit more nuance and meaning to the world that the MC has stepped in, or is about to be imminently important. I'll try to keep them down, but this also helps to prevent me from burning out getting trapped in one view. -Most of all, I hope that this story is enjoyable to you, and that you have a great time reading it! -Written by Michael Adams, Cowritten/Edited by Summer Kent
