Then Gunmar's army attacks.
------------------------------------------------
Mailins PoV:
A few Gunmar's trolls form into balls and while going through the sun, harden to stone, which makes them shoot at us like cannon balls.
They hit a few knights.
"We must hold Killahead Bridge, no matter what nightmares Gunmar throws at us." Merlin says.
The sun sets and Gunmar's army moves closer and closer.
"Knights of the Round Table our battle cry will shake the heavens and awake the old gods to witness. Today, we say no more to fear and darkness! For Camelot and Glory!" Father shouts and we cheer.
"I know the Trollhunter isn't here, but we are! Champions!" Douxie says to Jim, Claire and me. "And when I get us all home, brunch on me!"
"For Camelot!" We all cheer.
"Let's show these blokes the power of wizards!" Douxie gets into a fight stance and the sun fully sets.
We all charge forward with a yell and start battling the gumm-gumms.
I fire spells but my magic alone isn't strong enough. A gumm-gumm charges at me from behind but I don't notice it.
"Mailin, look out!" I turn as Douxie shouts, and he fires a spell at the troll, turning it to stone.
"Thank you Douxie!" I smirk at him and watch as he and Arch take down Trolls together.
I gasp as portal opens and Aunt Morgana flies out.
She fires a spell that knocks us back.
"Morganas returned! She's enemy number one!" Douxie shouts at us.
"Go! We'll hold the bridge." Jim reassures us.
"Hisirdoux, Mailin, with me!" Merlin shouts and we follow him.
We stop in the forest, between ruins overgrown with moss and take fighting stances.
"I feel dark magic." Douxie says while looking around.

"It means she's close." Merlin says and just after that aunt Morgana's voice rings out.
"An old man and a foolish boy lost as always. And look! My dear little niece! Do you dare run? Or face my vengeance?" Morgana teleports in front of us.
Suddenly thick roots wrap around us like hands, holding us down. One impales Merlin.
"Hisirdoux, Mailin, run!" Merlin shouts at us.
We struggle, trying to get rid of the roots. With a spell we succeed, and the roots fall limply to the ground.
Douxie runs in front of Merlin, firing spells at Morgana but she just laughs and teleports away.
I help Merlin pull himself up on his staff while he holds his wound.
"Merlin!" Douxie says worriedly and holds him up "You're injured! Badly."
"Hisirdoux, if I should fall this day..." Merlin says and gives him a scroll.
"Heart of Avalon?" I ask as I look at it over Douxies shoulder.
"Building a tomb? Why are you giving me this?" Douxie asks Merlin confused.
"Foreseeing the future means preparing for the worst of it, including your wounded friend." Merlin answers.
"Jim? What about him?" Douxie asks worriedly.
"The corruption in his heart has no cure. When he returns to the future, it will overtake him." Merlin explains.
"No! No, there must be some other way." Douxie says angrily "I made a promise to them, to Claire, to get them home alive, all of them!"
"Yet, to save time itself, you all must return home, even if it means James Lake will be no more." Merlin says and Douxie sighs sadly.
Merlin continues to speak while we walk again.
"Such is the burden of a wizard to make the hard choices mortals cannot." Merlin grunts in pain and I hold him steady "Now it is yours to bear." We look up at the skull, that is the arcane orders castle, stuck in a cliff.

We walk towards the edge of the abyss and Merlin jumps onto a cage, hanging from the ceiling.
"Morgana, reveal thyself!"
A portal opens and Morgana is standing in front of the skull.
"Look what has wandered into my web."
"These are dark powers you meddle with, Morgana. Who granted them? Who resurrected you from death?" Merlin asks angrily.
"Wizards beyond your ken. You four aren't going anywhere. I have a king to slay." Morgana says as a shadow clone splits from her body. Morgana leaves and the clone attacks us.
We start fighting it. I'm standing next to Merlin, who's weakening more and more, while firing at the clone from time to time. Douxie rapidity fires spells at the clone.
The clone jumps towards us and kicks Merlin and I inside the skull through one of its eyes.
Merlin crashes against a stone and falls to the ground grunting. He pants while trying to get up. Douxie walks over to us, and we help Merlin stand.
The shadow clone forms blades and walks towards us. Suddenly it vanishes in the shadows and the real Morgana is kneeling on the ground.
"Morgana." Douxie says surprised and raised his staff while standing protectively in front of me and Merlin.
My eyes widen in surprise as I hear my aunt sobbing.
She glares at us, tears streaming down her face "It's your fault! You're the reason Arthur is gone!" She shouts angrily.
"What?" Douxie gasps as his eyes widen.
"Gone?" Merlin asks confused.
"What?... no father..." I gasp as tears roll down my cheeks and my lips start to quiver.
Morgana floats up into the air and raises her staff as it glows brightly.
She fires spells at it, but Douxie blocks them with a shield he forms with his staff.
Merlin walks up next to him and forms a shield with his magic as well. I stand behind them, watching worriedly.
"She's too powerful! We have no choice but to seal her away!" Merlin shouts over the booming of the spells hitting the shields.
"I know I'll try to buy some ti-" Douxie says but gets cut off by Merlin pushing him out of the way. A big explosion throws Merlin back.
Merlin and I are now tied up with Morgana's magic.
"Oh, shame! Little Douxie finally gets his staff, just in time to die with it!" Morgana says tauntingly and attacks him, but Douxie blocks her.
They fight and Morgana keeps insulting my husband.
"You can't even wield it! You should stick to your usual tricks."
"Use the power of your staff! Make it your own!" Merlin yells it Douxie.
Douxie blocks Morgana and takes a hold of her staff with one hand and holds his own out behind him with the other.
My eyes widen and I grin as it turns into a red E-guitar that plays a riff.
Douxie jolts it forward and slaps Morgana in the face with it while grinning smugly.
"WOOHOO! YOU ROCK DOUXIE!!!!!"

Note: Slight edits to early chapters (and removal of one chapter - previously chapter 2) have been made 2/2/21 The city, my city, had once been alive in a way that was hard to describe. Thriving, active, hopeful. Vibrant. But life, as I had come to learn, sometimes possesses only the most tenuous of grasps. Finally, in the end, it became my city - mine alone. I was, after all, the only one left. Worse, it was entirely my fault. There was red in my ledger that could never be wiped clean. Not while I still lived, anyway. This story follows Eran, a man who became the opposite of everything he had ever wanted to be; in a world where superpowers began to appear in a rare few, his lack of control over his own power relegated him to the role of a terrible villain - the Reaper, named so for the countless lives that he absorbed and made his own, each only furthering his deadly lack of control. Gone mad with guilt and isolation, he strove for a single heroic act - his own demise. Death was less permanent than he hoped. Centuries later, he woke to a changed world and in a body not his own. Unfortunately, his power came with him. Yet this time, things would be different. This time, he had a chance to bring it under control. He could never truly make up for the things he had done; he could never achieve redemption. That wouldn't stop him from trying to be a hero.
