"Right. Well then, I'm going to pack a bit, then I'll uh, I'll see you guys next week."
Percy walked up to the boy's dormitory as Hermione, Ron, and Harry chorused goodbyes.
~~~
Percy had never been more thankful for the Mist than he had in that moment. He felt bad for lying to the trio, but he didn't trust them enough to tell them about his demigodness.
Percy couldn't imagine what would've happened if they saw through it though. Like imagine, Harry Potter pulling out bags of godly food and drinks, along with celestial bronze daggers. Percy shivered. That would not have ended well.
Luckily, the Mist concealed them as normal backpack items.
Percy packed quickly, only throwing a couple shirts and his wand into his backpack.
He wanted to get back to Camp as soon as possible.
After quickly Iris Messaging Chiron that he was on his way, Percy ran down the steps, and out of the Gryffindor common room- waving to Hermione, Ron, and Harry as he passed.
Percy ran through the halls and down staircases, stopping briefly in McGonagall's office to tell her he was leaving.
When he got outside, he whistled for Blackjack and waited by the lake.
"Ay, yo boss!"
Percy laughed. "Hey, Blackjack."
"Did you bring donuts? You promised you'd give some when I visited. Remember boss?"
"Yeah, I remember." Percy took off his bag, and dug through it to find his wand. "You can be real stubborn you know." Percy grumbled. He found his wand and hoped what he was about to do would work. "Accio donut!"
Blackjack stared at Percy. Percy held his wand up waiting for a donut to appear.
"Uh, boss? What was that?"
"A summoning charm." Blackjack continued to stare at Percy like he was crazy. "Magic." Percy restated.
"Oh, cool, cool. Where's the donuts?"
Percy looked around, seeing no donuts in sight. "I guess I did it wrong."
Just as Percy said that, a donut flew through the air and smacked Percy in the back of his head. "Ow!"
Blackjack laughed- neighed? Percy frowned. He had pink frosting in his hair. Percy turned around and bent down to pick up the dirty, smashed donut. He threw it at Blackjack who jumped and caught it with ease.
"Happy?"
"Thanks boss."
"You're welcome. Now can we please leave and get to Camp?"
~~~
Bright side: Percy's monster theory was right.
Down side: Percy's monster theory was right.
The second him and Blackjack left Hogwarts' grounds, every greek monster within a 20 mile radius could sense Percy.
This created a very long trip back to New York. Luckily, most monsters they encountered couldn't fly so Percy and Blackjack lost them fairly soon after they got up into the sky. Unluckily, Percy was attacked by harpies and Stymphalian birds virtually every two seconds.
Percy sighed and mumbled, "Hogwarts might suck, but I definitely don't miss this." He vaporized another harpy.
~~~
Campers whispered excitedly as Percy and Blackjack landed in front of the Big House.
Mr. D groaned at Percy's arrival. "Peter Johnson, what an honor it is to be in your aggravating presence." He drawled.
"Nice to see you too, Mr. D."
"Percy, it's good to see you."
"Hey Chiron." Percy smiled.
"Kelp Head!"
Percy whipped around to see none other than Thalia Grace.
"Thalia?"
Thalia laughed. "Who else?"
"It's real great to see you Pinecone Face." Thalia shocked Percy. "Ow."
"You bruise too easy Kelp Head. Clearly you've stopped training since you've been taking," Thalia did jazz hands for effect, "magic classes."
"Ha, ha, very funny. You wish you could do magic. Comes in handy."
"Oh really? It kills Greek monsters?"
"Well, not exactly..."
"Then that wand looks like a useless piece of wood to me."
"Oh yeah?" Percy pulled out his wand.
"Yeah." Thalia pulled out her sword.
Percy raised his wand and in a swift motion yelled, "Baubillious!"
Electricity shot out of his wand and hit Thalia sending her flying backwards onto the grass.
Thalia angrily got up from the ground. "Hey! You can't do that!"
"Why not?" Percy twirled his wand. "You said it's a useless piece of wood, but it looks to me, that it does the same sparkles you do."
Thalia fumed. "I don't do sparkles, Kelp Head. I control the lightning that's about to kill-"
Chiron galloped in between the two demigods. "Percy." Percy hung his head. He was nineteen, and was being lectured like a child by Chiron. "Thalia." Thalia glared at Percy as they both apologized to Chiron.
"Percy, you know the rules about using magic outside of Hogwarts?"
Thalia stifled a laugh. "Hogwarts?"
"Shut up." Percy turned to Chiron. "Technically, that applies to students under the age of seventeen. I'm perfectly able to perform magic with no repercussions."
Chiron frowned at Percy's response.
"Okay, fine. I won't use magic at camp."
"Thank you." Chiron trotted back towards the Big House.
Thalia and Percy turned back towards each other. Percy put his wand away, eyeballing Thalia. She put her sword away as well.
"I'm not the only one who was looking forward to seeing you, you know."
Percy gazed questioningly at Thalia, and before he could question her, he heard a familiar voice yell at him.
"You do know that Blackjack has to go to the stables, right?" Nico called out. Him and Will were walking hand in hand towards Percy.
"Nico!" Percy ran and went to hug the son of Hades. Nico shoved off Percy's hug, grinning. "Hey Will."
"Hi Percy."
Percy looked down and saw Will and Nico holding hands. "Hold on. Are you guys...?"
"Dating?" Will offered. Percy nodded. "Yeah. We are." Nico blushed.
Percy smiled. "Oh my gods. For how long? I'm guessing you have a ship name already?"
Thalia nodded and walked next to Percy. "Solangelo."
"And... about two years." Nico hesitantly answered, looking at Percy.
Percy's smile faltered as a a rush of memories flooded through his mind. Annabeth. Percy shook his head and continued to "smile".
"Nice. Oh and hey Will." Will looked at Percy. "You better be treating my baby cousin right, cause if not..." Percy jokingly cracked his knuckles.
Will cautiously laughed. It was clear to them that Percy was acting. But he had to admit, Percy was scarily good at it.
Nico wanted to break the tension. "For your information, Percy, and I know you know this, I am older than you."
"Ha! Okay, Death Breath." Thalia teased.
Nico glared. "I'm older than you too, Pinecone Face."
Thalia glared back at Nico, as Percy tried to hide his laughter.
"Alright, alright, Pinecone and Zombie Boy lets take it down a notch." Percy said.
In a matter of seconds, Thalia and Nico had their swords pointed at Percy. Percy held his hands up in a surrender.
"Geez, you can deal out the jokes, but ya can't really take them, huh?"
Will looked between the the big three kids as they stared at each other in tense silence. That was until, Thalia laughed. Her, Nico, and Percy began to crack up.
Skinwalker / War Chief
A System Apocalypse Fan Fiction I started reading Litrpg about two years ago. I fell in love with Tao Wong's System Apocalypse series. He is an excellent writer and I loved his world building, but when the second series arc went elsewhere It kind of lost me a little. I wanted to create a little parallel world that was very familiar to his fans but skewed off in a different, darker direction. If you haven't read Tao's work, you're missing out! Look him up on Amazon and read The System Apocalypse. One of the best in the genre.
