《Graphic Resources》40 || Do's and Don'ts

Here are a few do's and don't's for making graphics. This is just my opinion I am by no means telling you that this is the correct way to make graphics. Everyone has their own style, I'm just here to help. If you have any questions and or requests feel free to comment them and I'll be happy to help c:

1) When adding text to your graphic make sure that the text works with your graphic. So don't have white text on a very light graphic (with white in it) because it is going to blend it making it hard to read.

2) Don't cram your graphic with a lot of text and textures. You don't want to have too much going on. Make sure that the textures work together, such as the colors compliment each other.

3) Don't give up. Ever. Keep working at making graphics if you truly want to improve at it because if you give up you'll never reach your full potential (This is a great life lesson too, look at me giving useful advice c: )

4) Good quality images are everything Make sure you have the correct size you don't want over stretched images because they get blurry and become really bad quality.

5) Experiment with your graphics (I feel like a broken record I always say this... it must be important then 😉). Go crazy and create 30 graphics in one day that you are never going to use if you have to, experiment with different styles and different graphics.

6) When you add your watermark/author name/title/etc. make sure the placement is right. For example you don't want your watermark to be the center of attention, that's the job of the title.

7) Try having a set color scheme in your head. For example when I create graphics I take inspiration from my base texture or my model and I set a color that would work for everything. I've been on a rose gold and dark theme lately.

8) Use fonts that work with your graphics. Dafont is a great place for fonts and you can also see a preview of them. Also, don't go crazy with having every word on your graphic a different font you can definitely have more then one font just make sure they work together.

9) You don't always have to add a quote, if it doesn't look good with the graphic then I would recommend just leaving it out. Like I said before, you don't want your graphic to be an eye sore (but if you like having quotes go ahead and add them).

10) If you have Photoshop I recommend saving your finished graphic as both a JPEG and a PSD because that way if you make a mistake in your graphic and you exit out you can always click on the PSD and edit it.

Okay that's all I can think of, if you want more tips I'll be sure to think of some more. Please don't get offended by any of these remember your graphics are your art so you don't have to do anything I tell you.
