Kouri
For as long as you could remember vampires have been attacking your village for centuries. They were in fact unreasonable and vial creatures of the night. It was normal to walk down the street and see many homes boarded up and difficult to get into.
You didn't mind the unpleasant looking homes of your town. It didn't bother you that the streets were bleak.
Vampires, however, did bother you. Those blood sucking monsters didn't deserve to live. So you decided to go against your parents wishes and join the church in taking down these blood sucking monsters.
You've been doing this job for about a year now and only once have you seen a vampire kill 3 comrade.
You remember the night like it was yesterday.
You were all standing back to back in the darkened room of a large house. The sent of blood was suffocating...
It was so dark that everything out of the corner of your eye looked as if it were moving.
"(Y/n)..." you heard your friend whisper. "Stay calm." He said.
You hadn't noticed you were breathing so hard and quickly calmed yourself down. Your crossbow was pointed out into the darkness as your hand shook slightly.
"We need to get out of here it's much too dangerous..." one of your friends said.
"Yes-. Yes I know.. I'm trying to come up with something."
You were silent in this dilemma. You couldn't focus on anything but the darkness. For a moment you thought you saw something move but it was just your imagination.
Until it moved again.
You gasped. "GUYS VAMPIRE- TO YOUR LEFT SHOOT!!" You yelled.
You heard everyone gasp and a crossbow going off. You felt cold air against your back- your eyes couldn't track what was going on it was much too dark to see.
The next thing you knew you were pushed onto the ground from behind. You heard your comrades screaming for help and mercy.
Your breaths were heavy and tears streamed down your face. You grabbed your crossbow and aimed it up.
You stared into bright glowing red eyes...and they stared back.
"G-GET AWAY!!" You cried. "O-Or else I'll KILL YOU!!!"
You heard your friend mumbling from what seemed to be in slurred words.
"L-letgoplease...please-don't hurt me" you heard him whisper.
You didn't realize why he was muttering like that until you heard a loud crack followed by a thud.
The vampire just... snapped his neck... like it was nothing.
Your crossbow began shaking again. You couldn't breath. You were terrified. Was this your death bed!?
The creature stared at you with unblinking eyes. It suddenly began stalking closer to you and bent down to your level, still a good distance away.
You could barely make out a face... all you could see were glowing red eyes and an emotionless face as a male.. but barely.
He grabbed your crossbow and ripped it from your hands making you let out a scream.
He seemed to be lurking closer as you backed up and felt along the ground with your hands. You didn't want to die-. You couldn't die! No- it couldn't end like this.
You hit a wall and tried to feel for something- anything-! The face was getting closer- and closer.
Pretty soon the male was right between your legs. You tilted your head back and closed your eyes- expecting to feel a bite coming soon.
You pressed your hands instinctively against his chest to try and push him away. Your body was shaking like a leaf- your heard was racing- blood pulsing- sweat dripping- breaths heavy-.

You felt a cold hand gently caress your cheek. He was mocking you. How could he? Right before your death!?
Cold lips were right up against your throat. You could feel his iced breath on your warm neck.
They pulled away. You tensed and hesitantly opened your eyes only to see red ones staring right at you. You could feel blood smearing across your face as he trailed his thumb to your lips and rub them so.
You felt a cold hand suddenly roughly grab your neck and hoist you up. You choked loudly, closed your eyes and gasped for air. The male tossed you- you felt yourself land on... on grass?
You opened your eyes and realized he had thrown you outside. You heard the door of the home slam shut. You stared in utter shock and disbelief as to what happened...
You shook your head and stood up to go find help.
...
The next day the home was burned down but, you're not convinced the vampire is dead.
It's been six months since this happened and you're still looking for those damn red eyes.
So one day when a new vampire slayer randomly showed up you were suspicious. Not because the male was new or anything... but because he seemed to resemble the vampire but his eyes weren't red... they were brown! They were in fact a soft doe-eyed brown color...
The male was nice and sweet and seemed to get along with everyone! But you didn't buy into it for one second.
One day the head of the vampire slayer committee decided it's best the new male worked with you.
"WHAT!?" You said as you trailed around the leader. "But sir- he's bad news!! How could you just let him stay anyways!? We should kill him now!"
Your leader turned his head and gave you an annoyed look. "Look (Y/n)... I get it. He looks a lot like the guy who just so happened to kill your friends I know..." he placed a hand on your head and smiled. "But vampires can't go near holy places and he's been in the church several times! Therefore he cannot possible he a vampire." He said with confidence.
You glared and pushed his hand off your head. "Yeah yeah whatever you say. He still smells like trouble to me..." you mumbled.
"The only time you ever saw this vampire was in the dark. His eyes were red might I add. You were terrified, crying, and in almost total darkness. Do you possibly think your vision was obscured at least a little?" He asked.
You crossed your arms over your chest and pouted. "Well I'm going to find out the truth and prove your petty ass wrong!"
He smiled. "I'm sure you will... now go- befriend him. Or at least introduce yourself and be kind. That is an order!" He said.
You huffed and walked back out to the main hall. You saw the male talking with plenty of other girls. You groaned. Not only were you dealing with a possible vampire but also he was a flirt and all of them were going to hate you...
You shook your head and rolled your eyes. Whatever... who knew there could be so much drama despite the constant threat of death right around the corner.
You made your way slowly up to the male and gently tapped his shoulder. He turned around and hummed with a small smile across his face that seemed to widen when he saw you.
"Uh...hey so- I guess we're going to be comrades now- yaaaaayyy..." You said with the fakest smile you could muster.

"Oh! You're (Y/n) I assume~?" He said, his words seemed to drip honey.
You nodded your head and pointed to another male standing off to the side. "Yep. And that's Raizel." You could feel girls glaring daggers into your back.
"Ahh... well my name's Kouri. It's a pleasure to meet you~." He shook your hand.
They were so cold.
Your eyes narrowed for a second. Cold hands AND a total flirt. He's so cold he feels as if he's dead...
You looked up into his eyes and smiled. "I'll be looking forward to working with you!" His eyes were so dull... despite being so wide and happy looking, he still looked so dull.
He has to be a vampire.
There were several was to tell if he was a vampire! First you could place is stupid yet easy. You could slit your wrist open in front of him and if he reacts in an uncomfortable manner he may be a vampire. The problem is once a vampire smells your blood once they can easily track you down later when no one else is around.
Maybe that wasn't a good idea.
You could also throw something at him- if he reacts quickly there could be a chance. But that's not solid evidence.
Perhaps you could fake being in danger? No...how would you even go about doing that?
As the day slowly began to disappear you decided to stop pondering thoughts on your bed and just act. You put your gear on and clicked your crossbow to your belt and began walking to the church.
You opened the doors and walked in and noticed most everyone was already there including Kouri. You glared and made your way over to sit by Raizel who was sitting by himself as usual.
You leaned close to him. "I'm getting some bad vibes from the new member, Kouri. Just be careful tonight okay?" You said, trying to keep your voice down.
He glanced at you and nodded. "Yeah... I'll keep that in mind."
"ALRIGHT GET IN YOUR GROUPS EVERYONE!!!" You heard the leader shout. Everyone scurried their way over to their groups including Kouri who sat down right next to you.
He gave you a soft smile which you struggled to return.
"Alright, alright... settle down." The leader cleared his throat. "Now... we've noticed reports over near the forest of unusual smells like death. I'll send only 3 teams over there to check it out which leaves 2... We have only one place which I don't think will need 2 teams so..where to put the other one..." The male paused.
Kouri raised his hand. You tensed.
"Yes Kouri?"
"If it isn't too much of a risk sir..." he said in a calm voice "perhaps you could send a team near the lake? I heard some folks talking about how unnatural the smell was getting...almost like it smelled of rotting flesh." He said.
The leader thought for a moment. You were praying he'd say no.
"Yes...that does sound like a vampires work... though what we've seen recently is that vampires who hide near the lake aren't powerful. Well since you suggest it, (Y/n) your team will go to the lake!" He said sternly.
You gulped. "Y-Yes sir." You knew you couldn't argue at a time like this.
Once everyone got their assigned missions we all headed out in opposite directions.
You were leading Raizel and Kouri to the lake when suddenly about half way there Raizel called out to you.
"Hey... (Y/n)...uh one of belts is lose in the back. Want me to fix it?" He said.
You turned and gave him a confusing look before it clicked. "Oh... is it? Ah.. I didn't noticed! Yes- that'd be fine."
Raizel slowly walked over to you and put his hand on your belt. He looked down and whispered as soft as he could "I saw Kouri eyeing your legs during the entire meeting..."
You tensed and felt a harsh tug around you belt before Raizel took a step back and stared you in the eyes.
You looked down and then back up to him to symbolize that you understood and turned to continue walked.
Once you had gotten to the lake night had fallen and the fog was thick. The only light was coming from the moon reflecting off the lakes water. You could smell a soft hint of iron.
"Well, well, well~. Look what we've got here~." You heard a voice purr from the darkness. Quickly all of you got back to back.
Kouri was so cold.
You saw a vampire protrude from the darkness in front of you. He smirked.
"Looks like we've got ourselves free meals~." He licked his lips. Two others come out from behind the male.
You glared. They were definitely low class vampires. "Ugh. What a waste of time!" You growled and quickly shot the middle one in the chest.
He grunted loudly and fell backwards.
"B-Boss!?"
"H-HEY WHAT THE HELL!? YOU'LL PAY FOR THIS!!" They growled.
You rolled your eyes. "How pathetic... guys just shoot them. They're not worth anything."
You took a step back and reloaded your crossbow hearing the two others shoot the monsters.
Suddenly you felt two hands wrap around your body. You screamed in shock and tilted your head up to see a forth vampire. He held a knife up to your throat.
"(Y/n)!!" Raizel gasped.
Kouri just stared with a slight frown on his face.
"Hah! You really think I was that stupid?" He vampire purred. "Well now that I've got your sweet captain I'll leave~. Take one step closer and she's as good as dead~!" He cackled.
"I would let go of her if I were you~." Everyone's head turned and looked at Kouri who stood there with a smirk on his face.
The vampire turned to him and glared. "Oh yeah!? And what are you gonna do about it!?" He mocked.
Kouri held up his crossbow.
You gasped. "W-What are you doing!?" You cried.
Raizel glared. "N-No! That's much too dangers!!" He growled.
He didn't lower his weapon.
The vampire threw his head back and cackled. "OH PLEASE!! Those things aren't accurate!! You'll just hit your pretty friend here!!" He laughed.
You saw Kouri close one eye and aim. You closed your eyes and waited for the impact praying you wouldn't die from it.
You felt a rush of air whip past your face. The vampire stopped laughing and you felt him drop the knife to the ground. You slowly opened your eyes. You glanced over and felt your heart stop.
The arrow hit right into the vampires chest.
The males grip on you loosened and he fell backwards. You stood in shock as Kouri slowly walked over while reloading his crossbow. He give the vampire another quick blow to the head and smiled at you.
"Are you okay (Y/n)?" He asked.
You could barely make up words. "H-h-...how d-did y-you..?"
He just smiled at you. "Perhaps you should be done for the night? Would you like us to walk you home?" He asked.
You bit your lip and shook your head. "I-I no- I-... I'm just... uhm...thank you.." You said looking down.
"No problem~. Just keep a better eye out okay?" He said.
"Y-Yeah uhm... lets- lets report back to the leader and see if he would like us to help out anyone else." You said and quickly ran back up to Raizel.
The night Kouri ended up killing 8 vampires...and the next morning you found out Raizel was dead.
You slammed the doors open to the church and stomped in. The leader looked taken back by this.
"(Y-Y/n)-!?"
"Tell me where Kouri lives." You growled. The leader glared at you.
"Look (y/n) you know I'm not allowed to give out private inf-."
"I SAID TELL ME WHERE HE LIVES!!!" You grabbed the males shirt and pulled him closer with a mean glare on your face. You weren't going to take no for an answer.
The male stared into your eyes and sighed realizing you weren't going without an answer. "Fine.... he lives near the edge of the forest on the North end of town. He's kind of out in the middle of nowhere in a blue house." He said.
You smiled slyly and let go. "Thank you." You said and began to walk out. Your smile dropped. That damn vampire better be prepared or else he's going to get killed.
You didn't realize how truly remote it was until you got there. The land didn't look like it had been taken care of at all. Everything looked kind of sad and dreary and the ground smelt of dew. You came up upon the house surrounded by thick fog and vines grown out everywhere. Sure... it was a blue house but you began to doubt it. It looked so remote.
You held your hand up and gently knocked on the door.
"Coming~!" You heard Kouri call from the other side of the door. He opened it and quickly gave you a wide smile. "Hello (Y/n)~! It's so good to see you-"
You stepped close to him making him step back. You closed the door behind you and glared at him.
"Why did you kill him?" You growled.
Kouri blinked and tilted his head. "What ever do you mean? Who? I didn't kill anyone." He said.
You narrowed your eyes and quickly pulled out your crossbow. "Raizel! Why did you kill him!? Actually, why did YOU KILL ALL MY FRIENDS!?" You felt tears forming in your eyes. Your hand behind to shake again...
He stared at you with wide eyes. He sighed and suddenly put his chest right up against your crossbow. You tensed.
"What a ridiculous thing to accuse me of." He slowly put his icy cold hands on your arm gently and rubbed it with his thumb. "I didn't kill Raizel~ and I don't even know who your friends are~. Now, put down your crossbow and let's talk..." His fingers were slowly moving up your arm towards your own hand holding the crossbow.
Your eyes widened and you quickly pulled yourself away and backed up. "D-Don't even bother lying!!! I know you killed Raizel and I know you're the same vampire that killed my friends!!! I don't know why you- why you spared me- I don't know. Just please! Tell me why!!" Your vision blurred by the tears that began to pour down your face.
You glanced away for just a moment. But just a moment was enough to be a fatal accident. In a flash, Kouri to grab your arm and pulled you close to him. He forced your hand to point the crossbow up and with a twist of your wrist you dropped it onto the floor. He had ahold of both your wrists tightly in his bigger and colder hands.
"N-NO!" You screamed and struggled to get away. "L-Let go!! L-Let- g- ah!" He squeezed your wrists tightly making your bite your lip in pain.
"Now, now there is no need to rush things~." He said calmly. He took both your wrists in one hand and wrapped the other around your waist, pulling you closer to his body.
You started twisting your body and pulling at your wrists. You were sobbing. How could you have been so stupid!? How could you have been so blind!?!
He pulled you close roughly in a way where you couldn't move as much anymore. "Shhh~. You're not going to get away and you know it~."
You looked up at him and noticed his eyes were a deep red color... you felt much more afraid.
"H-How...." you muttered "...how did yo- you change your eyes?"
He smiled at you and leaned closer to you face. "Finally decided to calm down~?"
You flinched and tilted your head away. You felt him lean in and press his lips against your neck.
"K-Kouri! S-Stop it!!" You yelped and tried to move your head back.
You get him smile against your skin. "I'm sorry~. I can't help it~. It's been so long since I've been close to your neck~, and I'm so hungry... I haven't eaten in a day... you've seem to already be convinced that I am a vampire so what's it going to matter to me if I take a bite~?"
You felt him shove you up against the door. You let out a yelp in shock. "Stop it!! STOP IT!!!" You cried.
"Your blood has never escaped my mind~. I'd love to drink you dry but then I'd never get another sweet taste again~..." You felt his tongue drag slowly against your neck.
You shivered and slipped a hand from his grasp. You started hitting his chest. "K-Kouri!!! I-I don't understand! You've never tasted my blood... h-how- how would you know?"
You heard him sigh and pull back. "Oh (Y/n)..." he cooed and gently tilted your face up. "When I pushed you on the floor that night you cut your cheek open~. I could immediately smell your blood dripping from your wound~. I wanted a taste of that however, because I had killed so many people I wasn't stable enough to simply keep you alive~. So I decided to let you go and then come and get you later~."
You pressed your hand against his chest and glared. "T-Then- why.... w-why kill Raizel... he wasn't in the way and you know it!! In fact- if anything- the leader was more of a threat than him." You choked out through your tears.
