and tried to find another way to dig further, I walked home again with Vladimir to pick up some stuff before I permanently lived in the Palace. Of course, Brad and Joseph were on tails whilst Pete had asked Scarlet to stay. Probably telling her how wrong it was to get into The Archives without the level of clearance needed let alone bringing companies in the process. He most definitely regretted taking her before which caused her to know the passcode in the first place. Whatever it was, Pete's face gave away nothing and Scarlet didn't look nervous or scared either.
Brad and Joseph had gotten it easy as they told Pete that they had tried to prevent Scarlet from doing so. Though if you asked me, what they'd done was just asking her with a small voice 'are you sure about this?' before backing down under her glare. So much for a warning, huh?
"I'm so tired, do I really have to move to the palace now?" I said to no one in particular but Joseph picked it up and answered, "Yes. It's for your own safety, Lady Stavros." After the shooting and his absence during the incident, he has been acting very protective of me. I didn't know if it was guilt or a sense of duty, whatever it was it kinda ticked me off. I liked the quiet Joseph better, not the one who kept arguing for the sake of my safety.
And I wasn't fond of the new nickname either. "Can you not call me Lady or Stavros?" I stopped and turned to him who was walking right behind us. Like always, Brad took the lead and walked in front whilst Joseph took the back. Most of the onlookers thought that I was some kind of Royal with two bodyguards when I wasn't. Technically, I was but not until a few days ago I had been a regular, living a normal life without having people older than me calling me Lady.

Eyes ahead, he answered me with a voice that showed no emotion. "No. It's your birthright to have the salutation." I grunted and was about to punch him in his fucking face when Vlad caught my hand and squeezed it.
Don't do it. You'll attract unneeded attention. [V]
Vlad gave me a pointed look and I unwillingly nodded as I let out a sigh. Brad had stopped too and was now standing behind me. Turning my head to him, I narrowed my eyes. "What about you? Can you stop calling me Lady Stavros?"
Brad's blue eyes glinted as his brows rose. "Not a problem. Do you want me to call you Camibear or Camilove?" I rolled my eyes at him and gave him an annoyed look though inside I was glad he didn't change the way Joseph did. He was still the fun ol' Brad.
I packed my stuff in less than fifteen minutes because I didn't really unpack my luggage when I'd first come here. I didn't hang my clothes or anything. Just like what I always did, I'd simply dumped all of it into the drawer before and now I dumped them back into my luggage.
A woman named Fidelia greeted me and showed me the way to my new prison cell or what they'd like to call my chamber. It was located in the west wing whilst the Queen and her family had the east. I guess that put enough distance so there wouldn't be an awkward run-in. I was in awe the first time Fidelia opened the door as the room was so huge I could hold a football match there.
Brad and Joseph had left to meet the Royal Palace Guard Leader to arrange guarding details or whatever it was. They had put my luggage in the middle of the room. I was not in the mood for unpacking so I simply left it be and jumped on the bed. In minutes, the exhaustion took over me as I fell into a deep somber.

I felt the pain right after I heard the shot. It was suffocating and my mouth was gasping for air. Who knew that getting shot felt like there was something burning inside? I held my hand close to my chest as hot tears swarmed all over my cheeks. I don't want to die, not now!
Funny how you appreciated life more when it was taken away from you. Holding to dear life felt like holding sands inside your fist and trying so hard not to let them slip through your fingers. I gritted my teeth and tried to stay awake as I started to hear voices around me.
"It's too late, she lost so much blood."
"We must save her! She's important!"
"No, we must consult The Queen first! Remember, only she could decide!"
"Fuck that! We're going to lose her if we have to wait any longer! It fucking hit her heart!!! She needs to be in the operation room now!"
With that, I felt my body was being moved away. Lights made me feel dizzy and I finally gave in as I lost my consciousness.
There were two hands, two small but strong hands gripping my shoulder right now. Shaking me till I feel my body ached. What the hell is happening? I tried to ignore it at first but it was getting quite annoying. Using my own hands, I tried to shove those hands away. Fuck off!!!
"Wake up!" There was an unfamiliar voice yelling at me. And I forced my eyes to open but my eyelids felt so damn heavy. "Wake up, please!" The voice kept bugging the fuck out of me.
Pulling my last strength, I was finally able to open my eyes only to meet with a pair of dark eyes, looking at me intensely with so much eagerness and a glint of mischievousness.

The Ruined Monks of Rothfield Monastery
Erin is the youngest member of the dark monks; a supernatural brotherhood whose ultimate mission is to improve the dire circumstances of poor, war-torn villages using powers unique to each member. Or so he was led to believe. Erin, like his brothers, does not age, and that is, unfortunately, the only trait he shares with them. He cannot charm or compel like Woodrow, he cannot cast illusions like Knox, he was not swift like Swithin, not powerful like Blake. He was barely an assistant to his dear brother Wilbur, with his herbology and alchemy. He was told to lie low and make himself scarce. That is what he did. The dark monks temporarily reside in abandoned monasteries scattered around the country, feeding the poor and healing the sick, nurturing the monastic lands until it was fertile enough to raise crops and rear animals. As the years passed, they would leave these reformed, repopulated, self-sustaining monasteries and venture froth to help the next settlement. Yet, after years of toiling and quiet servitude, Erin notices that people and the country itself are declining. The villagers look gaunt, the once-lush soil now barren and cracked. He begins to feel disheartened, thinking that their mission is proving futile. Still, their leader Blake is steadfast and charges onward, and lately has his eyes set on a certain monastery in a thick, thorned forest that seems to diminish, even nullify their powers. A thick forest that Erin somehow has a connection to. A thorned glade where an ethereal voice calls his name with one simple request along with a promise:Heal the land, child. Heal the land and I promise to give you sanctuary so long as you stay. I promise to nurture you as you nurture me. As Erin cultivates the land, the land, in turn, gifts all its caretakers with new, enhanced skillsets on top of their unique powers -- skills of protection, healing, and magic. Magic. Erin had long wished to see the world fill with it again. The people, regardless of common or noble blood, still believe that magic will enter this world again. Magic to bless the king like it did the Saints. Magic to dispel the miasma befouling the world. Magic to bring back the fae folk and their many forms. It is up to Erin to forge the many paths leading to a bright future; to build a prosperous paradise that welcomes all races and bloodlines, by mastering the rewards gained through agriculture, horticulture, and animal husbandry, smithing, crafting, and fishing. Erin may also find a lifelong friendship and romance with his neighbor, Claude, if he decides to pursue him, and may even join him in the military campaign outside the monastery. The darkness still lurks outside, after all, and the mastery of his skills, along with a few good friends, may finally be enough to turn the tide in their favor. Most of all, Erin wants to keep the vow he set for himself: to protect everyone and everything he loves until his dying breath.
