《One Big Happy Vampire Family》Chapter Twenty-Five

I don't know how long I was in the trunk but it was long enough for the flashlight to burn out. I closed my eyes and I tried to sleep but I couldn't shut my brain down. I tried to listen to the sounds of the tires but that didn't work and I began panicking.
I slammed my fists on the trunk and I screamed until Glen stopped the car and popped the trunk open.
"What?" Glen asks opening the trunk about a couple inches wide.
"The flashlight burnt out," I say staring intently out onto the street, "And I couldn't breathe."
We're parked in a shifty neighborhood with broken down houses and a cracked street.
"It's fine, you can get out. We've arrived at our destination." Glen says opening the trunk the rest of the way.
I don't hesitate in getting out of the trunk but I probably shouldn't have because I go to crawl out and my legs give up so I fall to the ground slamming my arm into the pavement.
"Thanks for catching me." I groan as I sit up.
Glen slams the trunk shut before turning and looking down at me, "Whoops."
After I stand up I look around some more. Most of the windows on the block are boarded up, most of the doors are double-barred, and few people who are outside watched as I crawled out of a trunk and they didn't say anything. I guess that says a lot about the neighborhood.
"This way." Glen says lightly grabbing a hold of my arm and leading me across the street to a one level light blue house without any bars on the windows or doors with a small metal fence around the grass front yard.
This house definitely sticks out from the rest of them.

Glen opens up the gate to the yard and before I can step in a large brown dog is trying to attack me. I squeal as I drop to the ground but instead of getting bit my face is bombarded with licks.
When I open my eyes Glen is practically on the ground laughing and the dog is still trying to lick my face off.
"Butch! Down!" A voice calls from the front porch.
The dog crawls off of me and whimpers away. When I look up my eyes are met with a white guy with a beer belly wearing a white wife beater, dirty blue jeans, and no shoes. He's almost bald and the little hair he has is greasy and brown.
"Dad, this is Riley," Glen says helping me up, "Riley, this is my father."
Ah, the vampire who got his mother pregnant.
I don't know why I'm here but that terrible feeling is back and nothing good ever happens when I get that feeling.
"Come on in Riley." Glen's father says as his eyes examine me from head to toe taking in every little detail.
I don't move so Glen adds a bit of pressure to my arm, "Lets go Riley."
We walk straight up to the house and we almost step inside but his father grabs my arm pulling me back, "Do you know how much you'll sell for?"
"Sell?" I ask turning to Glen who just shrugs.
"Well I wasn't gonna tell you that because I didn't want you to freak out." Glen says as he uses my other arm to pull me towards him.
His father gets mad and pulls me towards him and they go back and forth like that until his father pulls me to hard and I go tumbling down the concrete porch stairs.

Once I lift my head back up I notice the blood dripping down my forehead. I don't think much about it until his father practically leaps from the porch and tries sinking his fangs into my shoulder.
I try scooting backwards but his father is much faster and he's able to do it. He doesn't pull back for what seems like a minute and when he does he begins scratching at his throat and he begins crying.
I get really scared so I run and I hop over the fence pretty easily for being pregnant and I continue my run which doesn't last long because Glen speed runs in front of me.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I didn't mean too!" I say breaking down slightly when he grabs me.
Glen shrugs again, "Don't worry, no one's gonna hurt you. My father cares more about money than he does revenge."
"I didn't mean to!" I say completely ignoring Glen as I drop to my knees crying and shaking.
I wasn't really processing the situation, my brain was showing me flashbacks of when my dad tried pushing me down the stairs but I moved and he fell down the stairs instead. That night I received the worst beating of my life.
