《One Big Happy Vampire Family》Chapter Twenty-Four

As much as I didn't want to fall asleep in this complete strangers car I was tired from all the walking, running, and yelling. So as soon as my head touched the glass pane of the car, I fell asleep.

After having a rather terrible nightmare about my dad Glen woke me up and I almost punched him but he grabbed my hand before I could hurt him.

"You were groaning and crying," Glen says eating a french fry from the McDonalds bag next to him, "I figured I'd wake you up."

I take a couple deep breathes as I try steading my heart. It took me three years to stop having nightmares about him, I don't plan on it taking another three.

"What were you dreaming about?" Glen asks as he reaches into the bag and handing me a burger.

"Who, the question should be, who was I dreaming about?" I say as I begin unwrapping the burger before taking a bite, it's a bit cold.

"Okay..." Glen says eyeing me suspiciously, "Who were you dreaming about?"

"My father." I say without looking at Glen, I can already feel his judgment.

Glen doesn't say anything he just looks away and continues eating his french fries.

"Are you gonna kill me?" I ask turning to Glen before taking a small bite of the burger.

He starts the car again, "I promise you Riley, you won't die by my hand."

"So I could still die by someone else's hand?" I ask setting the wrapper crumpled up in my lap before pulling my knees up to my chest.

"You know your baby daddy and your real daddy are all over the news." Glen says changing the subject, "They're saying that Tyler and you were kidnapped by your father who just got out of prison and you killed your father and ran. They're searching the woods for you right now."

I wrap my arms around Mark Anthony's leather jacket and I sigh. Of course, because I can snap a neck of a grown man's neck.

"How long have we been driving?" I ask as I set my head on my knees.

I can't help but feel depressed. My baby might kill me, my best friend is dead, my brother lured me into a trap, and I'm now I'm being taken to an unknown location by a man who claims he won't kill me.

"About seven hours. You've been asleep for most of it."

I turn my head so that I'm looking out the window at all the large pretty buildings with thousands of windows. We're in a city.

"Do you know me because of the rumors about my blood?" I ask as we drive by a building that says Blood Bank.

Glen doesn't say anything for a good minute, "What's the rumor surrounding your blood?"

I just shake my head, there's no point in telling him if he doesn't already know. It was stupid to even bring it up.

"Do you vampire hunters work together or are you alone?"

Glen shrugs as he pulls into an empty parking lot, "I work with a few other guys but there's a huge group of supernatural hunters in town that you probably never want to run into."

I wonder if they're the ones Tyler fought or if Glen's the one he fought. I'm not gonna ask though.

Glen turns to me after stopping the car, "So here's the thing. I'm going need you to get into the trunk."

"I don't want to die." I say slowly moving my hand towards the door handle just in case I need to escape.

"You aren't going to die Riley. I just can't have anyone seeing you just yet." Glen says pulling on a cocky smile before reaching into his pocket and grabbing a small blue flashlight, "Josh told me you were afraid of the dark."

"I'm not afraid of the dark!" I say opening the car door and stepping out.

Glen quickly gets out and runs to the trunk only to realize he forgot to open it. He then runs back to the front of the car and pops the trunk open before running back.

"Okay get."

I take one last look around before slowly making my way towards the trunk. For a city, this area is extremely quiet and there's not a lot of people out and about.

I climb into the cramped trunk and I clench my eyes shut. I lied, I'm petrified of the dark. After he slams the trunk shut, I open my eyes back up expecting there to be light.

I begin crying as my heart begins racing as fast as it can.

I can't handle this!

After a few moments, the trunk pops back open and Glen passes me the flashlight, "I'm really sorry Riley."

After he closes the trunk I quickly turn the flashlight on and I take a few deep breaths. My father use to lock me in the closet for days at a time without light, or food, or a bathroom.
