Ed Sheeran's 'Thinking Out Loud' played from my phone, as both Aishi and I stared at the ceiling.
"Maybe we found love right where we are." I sang softly, looking at Aishi from the corner of my eye.
"Aishi."
"Hmm?"
"Eventually everything connects." I stated.
"What do you mean?" She asked.
"Nothing." I smiled.
"Tell me!" She demanded, turning her body and looking at me.
"You know you're a work of art."
"What are you saying?" She asked, laughing.
"I was just thinking." I told her.
"Specify please?"
"I'm thinking about how people fall in love in mysterious ways." I sang when the line came up.
"What even!" Aishi facepalmed herself, looking back at the ceiling.
"What's so fascinating about the ceiling?" I asked her.
"Staring at the ceiling in the dark, same old empty feeling in the heart." She chuckled.
"I'm pretty sure if I smacked the stupid out of you there wouldn't be anything left." I said, rolling my eyes, causing her to laugh.
"I thought only drunk Aishi was poetic." I said.
"Stay a while, maybe then you'll see a different side of me." She winked.
"I'm here to stay for a lifetime." I said.
"Yeah right." She laughed, shaking her head.
"Nobody stays for a lifetime, Abhay." She stated.
"Are you trying to challenge me?"
"No, I'm trying to knock in some reality into your small brain." She chuckled.
"Well, time will answer." I said.
"It certainly will."
"Aishi."
"Abhay."
"Have you fallen in love with me?" I asked.
"What?" She laughed.
"Wow. That was very straightforward, Abhishek Sharma. Why do you ask that though?" She questioned.

"Just curious." I smiled.
"No, I haven't fallen in love with you. Yet." She said, looking at the ceiling.
"Yet?" I questioned.
"I've been crushing over you for like two years for your looks and personality. Now when I know you as a person, the chances of me falling in love with you is more. I mean, if it was upto me, I'd want you to stay by my side till the day I settle among the stars, but obviously, that's impossible." She chuckled.
"Why?"
"Because you're THE Abhishek Sharma, whereas, I'm just a normal girl. You have too many girls out there, just like me, crushing on you. Some might have already fallen in love with you." She laughed.
"I do, but not like you." I said.
"What do you mean?" She asked.
"So, will you fall in love with me?" I countered her.
"I might, some day, seeing that I'm getting too attached to you. What I'm not sure about is when." She smiled at me.
I nodded.
"Why're you asking me these questions all of a sudden?" She asked, slightly chuckling.
"Curiosity." I shrugged.
"Well, okay." She laughed.
"So, will you confess?" I questioned again.
"What?"
"Your love to me." I stated.
"What the fuck Abhay!?" She laughed even more.
"I want to know. Tell me, will you?" I asked again.
"No." She said, still laughing.
"Why?"
She stopped laughing and looked at me.
"Because I'd rather have good memories with you." She smiled.
What is she trying to say?
I gave her a confused look.
"I'd rather have my heartbroken by you unknowingly, than knowingly." She chuckled.
I understood what she meant.
"Aishi." I called her out again.

"What if I let my 'the one' walk away without even trying?" I asked.
"One day you're going to see her holding hands with someone who took your chance. Maybe, she won't even notice you because she's too busy laughing with the stupid jokes he makes. And it'll burn your heart seeing that beautiful smile on her face and realising that you aren't the reason behind it." She told me.
"Two souls don't find each other by simple accident, Abhay. They find each other for a reason." She added, looking at me with a smile, before turning towards the ceiling.
Kiss Me, by Ed Sheeran started playing and a comfortable silence enveloped us. Neither of us breaking it.
"Settle down with me
Cover me up
Cuddle me in
Lie down with me
And hold me in your arms" I sang softly.
"And your heart's against my chest, your lips pressed in my neck
I'm falling for your eyes, but they don't know me yet
And with a feeling I'll forget, I'm in love now" Aishi sang, smiling at the ceiling.
And that was it. Neither of us sang or spoke anything after that. We just listened to the song in a peaceful silence.
I turned to look at a now sleeping Aishi while the last few lines of the song played.
