Match day!

Our first game of the season, and that too against Mumbai Indians.

I was really excited, plus, nervous too.

We were currently in the team bus, and on our way to the Sheikh Zayed Stadium.

"Are you fine, man?" Shivam asked me.

"Y-Yeah.. why?"

"You look nervous."

"I am, but at the same time I'm not." I chuckled.

"Chill, you'll do amazing today." He smiled, patting my thigh.

I smiled back at him, before my eyes fell on Kamlesh, who was busy on his phone. The boy had a smile on his face.

I looked over at Shivam, and he smirked at me, before he looked at Kamlesh.

"Whom are you texting?" He asked Kamlesh.

"Kamlesh?" Shivam called him out again when he didn't answer the first time.

"Huh? Oh, sorry, what?" He questioned, looking at us, confused as ever.

Shivam chuckled at him, before asking, "Whom are you texting?"

"Oh.. uh... Meher." He replied.

I narrowed my eyes at him. Why is he texting her?

"She's at the SRH practice session and would be leaving in a couple of minutes." He informed us.

"Too much of Meher, huh." Shivam winked at him.

"We're just really good friends." Kamlesh smiled.

But that's not what it looks like, I thought, but didn't say it.

I looked out of the window and began wondering about what DK said.

I've been thinking a lot about that lately.

Honestly, it's weird. I mean, Meher and I are just friends, but I don't really know after the day I fell on her during that practice session.

I couldn't come in terms with the look she had on her face. She had a blank look, but her eyes had some spark in them.

To be honest, I don't know whether it is that way, or I'm just overthinking.

But, she can't like me if she's way too close to Kamlesh.

The way Kamlesh has been taking care of her, keeping his hand on her back, and speaking to her a lot these days, do give me thoughts that the two of them are a thing.

That's none of my business, though.

I saw Meher in the dugout, speaking to her cousin Sidiksha. She spoke for a few minutes more, before making her way towards where DK, Narine and I were standing.

Suddenly her gaze fell on Kamlesh and she changed her direction, now walking towards him.

I shifted my sight, and concentrated on what DK had to say.

A couple of minutes later I heard Meher's voice.

"Hello!"

All of us turned to look at her.

"All the best!" She wished, giving us a huge grin.

While everyone thanked her, I smiled.

DK and Narine made their way towards the dugout, while I still stood on the spot.

"You fine?" She asked me.

"Can we.. uhm... talk?"

"Yeah, sure."

"Not here. Inside?"

"Okay." She shrugged her shoulders.

We walked out of the ground and towards the KKR dressing room.

"Am I allowed in?" She asked, standing outside the room.

"It's fine, come in." I assured her.

She stepped inside, but stood by the door, looking out to see if anyone's there.

"Meher, you can chill. Come sit here." I chuckled.

She still looked unsure.

I caught her hand and made her sit on a bench.

"You had something to say, right?" She asked.

"Yeah." I sighed.

"What's it? Tell me." She smiled, taking my hand in hers, and drawing small circles on my palm to calm me down.

"I'm.. nervous." I confessed.

"And?" She asked.

"What and?"

"I know there's something else bothering you too."

"How do you know?"

"I just do. Now tell me, what else is bothering you?" She questioned.

"I have a feeling that I won't be able to perform my best today." I confessed.

"Look Shubman." She breathed out, and held my right hand in both her hands.

"It's just a feeling. Sometimes people do get gut feelings about some things, and yeah sometimes it's true, and sometimes it's not. And listen to me, it's totally okay if you don't give your best today. One match cannot decide what a player you are, okay? There are so many cricketers who're having a hard time to prove themselves. It's okay, take your time." She said.

"And listen, if not today, then I'm sure you'll give your best in the next match." She smiled at me.

I nodded at her, still unsure about the gut feeling.

"If there's anything about Sara-"

"Nah, it doesn't matter anymore." I stated.

Meher looked surprised for a minute.

"What?"

"Yeah, I mean, I'm not completely over her, but there's no point of thinking about her and getting upset anyway! It's just a waste of time." I stated.

"Good you realised quick enough." Meher said.

"She's an amazing girl, but maybe, she's not the one for you." She shrugged.

I nodded at her, before saying, "Yeah."

"All the best." Meher smiled.

I smiled back, saying "Thank you."
