"Raghav....What is the progress with the drug dealer?" I asked Raghav.
"I have also put our private investigators to work if we could get any crucial information. We need to put the drug dealer behind bars as soon as possible." Mihir said.
"Actually... I don't think we should rely on the police. Even I will activate my sources. He has a younger son too. Maybe we could get something out of him." Raghav said.
When is this going to end?
"Veer...Calm down. For now everything is in control. He won't attack now when his son is in the custody." Raghav said.
"I just hope so." I said rubbing my forehead frustratedly.
Just then someone opened Raghav's cabin door. I had my back but I could smell strawberries.
It is Avni.
Strange, how you know it is her just by the fragrance.
"Good Morning everyone! Here is your coffee." Avni said giving us our coffee cups.
Much needed!
"Thanks! You know I come to his office every morning only for your coffee." Mihir said grinning and I rolled my eyes.
"Adnya is going to have your head on a silver platter if she hears this." Avni said laughing.
She took out a tie from the drawer and Raghav stood up so that she could make his tie.
Not Again!
"You guys can carry on with this when we leave you know!" I said rolling my eyes.
"You sound almost jealous!" Raghav said wiggling his eyebrows.
"But Avni how did you learn to tie it? I mean you never needed to tie a tie." Mihir asked.
And at that very moment we both looked at each other.
"It was because of him." She said in a low voice. Still looking at me. None of us breaking the eye contact.
I have a meeting today. My first meeting. My first project. And I am hell nervous. And this freaking tie! I don't know how to tie it.
And on the top of it, I don't know where Avni is! I need her coffee right now!
Just then the door bell rang and I hurried towards the door.
"Good Morning!" She said smiling.
"Where were you?" I asked closing the door behind her.
"I took both the shifts yesterday. So i could be here today. Sorry, I am late." She said and smiled.
She made her way towards the kitchen and started making coffee.
"Why did you not make your breakfast? You cannot always wait for my coffee V!"

She started yelling on me. I just sat on the kitchen counter looking at her smiling.
"What? Now what are you smiling about?" She asked shoving the coffee mug in my hand.
"I was hell irritated since morning. Just one smile from you and that is all I needed to get off my grumpy mood." I said to her while sipping my coffee.
This is like an everyday routine. Her making coffe for me and me sitting on the counter talking to her.
"Are you ready for the meeting?" She asked.
"I don't know. I am nervous. You know I am a newbie."I said fiddling the mug in my hand.
"And I don't even know how to tie a tie." I said.
"Just that? I will do it for you. Just a minute." She said and went inside.
She brought a tie with her and put on a youtube tutorial.
Finally after 10 mins or so she did it.
"Yesss... I did it! You look perfect!" She said tightening my tie and straightening the collar of my shirt.
"You are going to crack this deal. Just square your shoulders and go. Just kill it V!" She said and hugged me.
I hugged her really tight.
She was rubbing my back soothingly.
"You don't look good when you are nervous. Smile!" She said as she released the hug.
I smiled at her.
She was combing back my hair.
"What would you do without me? You don't even have your breakfast if I don't make it!" She said with a smile on her face.
"Ohhh.. That is because I don't like eating if the breakfast is made by me." I said to her and then my alarm beeped.
"It's time. I should leave." I said and she backed away.
"Drive safe. All the best!" She said me handing my watch which I forgot ofcourse.
"Byee.. Take care." I said and kissed her forehead while leaving.
I don't know why is it that I remember everything about us.
Why was I always decieving myself by believing that Trisha is the one for me?
When she was not even 1% supportive for my dreams.
I lost her because chose Trisha over her!
That was probably my worst decision.
I was brought out of my world when Mihir snapped his fingers before me.
"Soo... What were you and Avni doing in your dreamland?" Mihir asked smirking.
"Ohh nothing just— I stopped mid sentence when I realised what was I going to say.

"So you agree you were dreaming about her?" Raghav asked wiggling his brows.
I just glared at him and threw a pen in his direction which he caught very casually.
"It would've hurt me!" He said dramatically.
"Well... It didn't!" I said rolling my eyes and left for my cabin.
.
.
.
I entered the living room and again today also the whole house was filled with a delicous aroma.
Avni is been teaching mom baking ever since she is been living with us.
And then I saw Tanvi running behind Avni and Avni was carrying a cookie jar in her hands.
They both were running around the hall with Avni laughing and Tanvi yelling at Avni.
"Avni just give it to me! I swear I won't tell Ruhi I ate one from her jar." Tanvi yelled.
These girls!
Just then Avni came running towards me and hid behind me holding my shoulders.
Tanvi was going to move around when Avni shifted to the left.
"Wait!" I yelled.
"What is going on?" I asked looking at these two mature girls behaving worst than kids.
"Tell her! She won't give me cookies." Tanvi whined.
"Veer! She's had a full jar of cookies today. And this one is Ruhi's jar. You know she would start crying if she doesn't get her cookies after dinner." Avni said.
"Tanu I promise I'll bake your favourite brownie tomorrow." Avni said & winked.
"Noo.. I want the cookies now! Arghh.. that little girl has wrapped you around her fingers." Tanvi said and pulled me to her side so I get aside.
I just pulled the jar from Avni's hands and walked towards the kitchen.
"Where are you going?" Tanvi asked me and followed me.
I kelt the jar on the topmost cabinet so that no one could reach it.
They both are short.
"Now.. noww! No one gets the cookies except me!" I said & smirked.
"Veer!" Both yelled simultaneously.
I walked away smiling.
Would it have been like this always if I would've had Avni in my life all these years?
She looks so happy here!
Her smile is an achievement for me.
.
.
.
I wanted to ask Avni about some file, so I knocked on her room's door. The door was ajar so I entered her room.
I was looking for her when I spotted her in the balcony sitting on the swing.
I went towards the balcony and stood there leaning on the wall watching her.
She was looking towards the sky.
"Are you okay?" I asked and she got startled and looked at me.
She smiled at me.
And the same smile!
The same smile which made me forget all my worries!
I sat beside her and asked her "Why were you crying?"
She just chuckled and said "I am not crying."
"You can't fool me, you know." I said & shifted towards her. She was still busy watching the sky.
"You know the first few times you caught me staring at the sky like this you thought I was crazy!" She said smiling.
She started
"And then I told you that—
I interrupted her and said
"Sky looks diffrent when you have someone you love up there!"
She looked at me and laughed.
"And you thought that my reason was absolutely absurd" She said laughing.
"I thought you forgot." She said still looking at the sky.
I shifted closer and held her hand.
"When did we become this drifted, Avni? We are this away from each other that you won't come running in my arms after having a bad day. There was a time when you used to cry on my shoulder and now you don't even want to tell me that you cried." I said looking at her and I saw a tear rolled down her cheek. She quickly wiped it.
She shifted towards me and side hugged me.
"Maybe since the day we started fighting because of that bitch!" She said keeping her head on my shoulder.
I laughed at her.
"Still the same brat I see!"
"I've missed you all these years soo much! Especially this bratty attitude of yours." I said stroking her hair.
"I am no more a brat okay!" She said looking up from my shoulder and glaring at me.
"Okay... Okay. You aren't!" I said.
"Now tell me. What were you crying about?" I asked her.
"Just missing them." She said and shifted a little away.
I held her firmly from her waist and again pulled her to me.
I kissed the side of her head and laid my head on the top of hers.
"Don't do that!" She whined.
"Why?" I asked smiling.
"I'd get used to it again. And then It becomes really difficult to come out of it." She said and I pulled her more to me.
I am not leaving this time!

Tales from the Triverse
Tales from the Triverse is part detective drama, part fantasy adventure and part space opera. I’m influenced by the likes of Iain M Banks, Isaac Asimov and ND Stevenson and work including The Wire and Gotham Central. It begins with an incident two hundred years ago which crashed three parallel universes together. Portals open up in 18th century London, sending England down a very different path. We pick up events in the 1970s, with the Metropolitan Police having established a new department to handle portal-related criminal activity. The story is about intolerance, immigration, multiculturalism and power. It’s about what happens when incompatible viewpoints are weaponised to seed discontent, and the efforts of some to create a fairer world. In the tradition of the best science fiction, fantasy and crime fiction, I’m using the setting to examine themes that matter to me in the real world. Who is it for?If you like science fiction or fantasy, or a mix of both, this is for you. It’s my first foray into crime fiction, but I hope if you’re a fan that you’ll enjoy yourself - especially if you’re looking for something a bit different. I write fiction that is optimistic, progressive and empathetic. Bad things can happen to good people in the stories, but the overall arc tends to be hopeful. Note that if it were a movie, Tales from the Triverse would be a 15 certificate in the UK.
