Chapter 18 || The Gods above
We were all sitting around one big ole table.
They had actually convinced Noah to sit down and talk. Although I think he just got tired of their begging. Honestly this was just a little bit strange, because I felt like it should be me and Noah begging, since technically we were the hostages. But it seemed to be the other way around.
Well like, they weren't hostages. But it almost seemed as if Noah had the upper hand here.
"We've been doing our research, it seems your grandfather has quite the lineage." Tristan said, while pointing towards the name 'Lycaon' on the sheet that now occupied the table space. Off of that sprung lines that connected to other people and places, years. A lot of it was in Latin, I think.
But how was I supposed to know, I mean, I only took french in highschool, and I barely passed that. So don't take my word for it when I say it is Latin.
"He was the King of Arcadia, which, ironically is a kingdome of wooded land, mostly inhabited by animals. It wasn't exactly a lavish kingdome, but it was full of power and dictatorship back in the day. Lycaon was one of the many that believed in natural selection. Only the strongest survived in that kingdome." Treesa said, expanding on Tristans words.
"Yeah, you wouldn't have lasted a day, Noah," Tanner said, rolling his eyes.
Noah glanced over at Tanner and raised an eyebrow. But tanner had already gone back to playing with his dagger.
"Arcadia? Lycaon was a king?"
"Oh god, would just let us explain without interrupting, bitch?" Tanner snidely said from across the table.
Noah let out a growl.
"Tanner, what'd I say about pissing him off?" Tristan said reprimanding his brother.
I punched Noah in the shoulder, "Whoa tiger, no need to go all wolfy on us. So not called for. Now is someone going to answer my question? Please?" I said, sending a glare towards Tanner, who was now playing with his dagger once again.

Noah glanced over at me, "Sarah, we're thinking gods and goddesses, the celestial world." Noah said. He looked back at Tristan, "can you just get on with this? I have a lot to get done, I don't have time for your petty problems."
"These aren't exactly petty problems, Noah." Tristan replied.
"Well why don't you get on with the fucking thing so we can actually start doing something about it?" Noah growled.
Great, the big bad wolf is angry. Again.
"Look, you know how Lycaon sacrificed a child and tried to serve it to Zeus as a cooked meal, to see if he was really omniscient? And then he turned Lycaon into a werewolf and damned him to the earth?" Tristan asked.
"Of course I know my own damn history, hunter." Noah growled out.
Whoah, whoah, whoah wait. Lycaon sacrifice a child? And I'm sitting next to his grandson.
I shifted slightly away from Noah.
"Yeah, well there is a couple, very vital details that you are missing out on here. You know Zeus had twins? Artemis and Apollo. Lycaon disgraced Artemis, he wasn't very discreet when it came to that of her purity. Artemis was one of the three goddesses who swore to stay a virgin, never to marry, never to bare children. She was in love with Lycaon. She bore his child, Aischylos. Your dad, though he change his name, who would want a name that meant shame?"
'What does that have to do with anything?" Noah asked.
"Simple, Artemis is, as many call her, the moon goddess. She is also very in tune with the wilderness, she has control over animals, can even speak to them. Your dear grandfather was the first werewolf, and of course, Artemis one and only love. She felt pity for him, and gave him some powers."
"Wait a minute, those things, is that his power?" I asked. Shuddering.
"Artemis gave him the power over the undead werewolves. Or as they are called here-" Tristan pointed down to a book lying on the table "- Thanatos. Greek meaning for death."
"So basically we are dealing with an army of zombie werewolves." Tanner said nonchalantly whilst throwing a dagger at a dartboard on the other side of the room, hitting it right in the bulls eye.

Damn, he was a good shot.
Like he could just kill me right now if he wanted to. Well so could anyone in this room. I mean I didn't exactly have the upper hand.
Noah might have it, but being compared to a bunch of gun yielding and knife throwing hunters and a werewolf. Well i didn't have much going for me.
Wait what, zombies? Seriously? i was still trying to accept the fact that there were werewolves, and now there a zombie werewolves? Oh, oh sorry, Thanatos. Or whatever the heck they're called.
I just wasn't ready for the zombie apocalypse. Not ready at all.
I mean I still had to build my underground home and stock it up with ten years of supplies!
This was literally as outrageous, almost as outragiouse as not being able to find a stupod coat at Forever 21 because your boobs are too big. I mean sense when did a D cup become so abnormal that you can't find a coat that will fit?
Am I the only person that suffers from this? I mean, I'm not fat, I mean I don't think so, yet I still have to go to the plus size to find a coat that will fit? Argh, their sizing was just messed up.
"There has to be more than a million at this point. Werewolves, if they die naturally, or killed properly will rest safely in their grave, decompose and shit. The mistakes we made was that we didn't kill them properly. We didn't cut their heads off, or burned their bodies after the kill. Lycaon now has the power to control them, he can get them to do whatever he wants to." Tanner said, throwing another dagger at the dart board.
"The only way to kill them now is to cut their heads off. But it is extremely hard, apparently. When they become a Thanato they transition from a normal wolf, to this half man half wolf being. Their necks get thicker, making them harder to kill. We don't have the resources able to do this, or the manpower." Treesa said.
"And what does any of this have to do with me? I'm of the superior race here. He's not going to touch me, Lycaon's coming after the weaker beings. Aka you." Noah sneered, pointing a finger at each of the members sitting around the table.
"We need your help," Tanner said.
"No. Now it is time for me, and Sarah to leave. The place is surrounded. I, or one of my men will rip your throats out, tear you limb for limb, then stuff your head and place it on our fucking mantel if you try to stop us."
Noah stood up, grabbing my hand and pulling me out of my seat to stand beside him. Then dragged me out of the room, moving further down the hallway till we came to front door and we walked out of the house.
He better bring me home now, I was getting tired of him pulling me around. It was just getting old now.
|| AUTHORS NOTE ||
So I know that this chapter was slightly boring, with all those details and not much Noah action. But as you can probably tell, this was a pretty big turning point in the book. I have been waiting to reveal this stuff for a while now :D As you might tell, there is a lot of mentioning about Greek mythology and gods and goddesses. All of those details are semi-right. But I put some twists on them.
Anyways tell me what you think in the comments! and vote if you liked this chapter!

The Tower Must Fall - Combat Gardener
If you're interested in a conceptual, ground-up rewrite leave a comment and tell me what you loved about it. I've got a pretty good idea of what everyone hated so there's no need for expounding on that. Gardener? A support class? This can't be! What was all my hard work for? Forget this world. Forget the System. Even if I'm a lowly support class, I'll take on the Tower and take them all down! Since the System appeared one hundred years ago, humanity has been divided into three: combat classes, intellectual classes, and support classes. Assigned at the moment of high school graduation, one's class determines their future. Rowan wanted the most out of life. A combat class, an intellectual class, either would be fine. When he is instead assigned a support class, Gardener, he notices the System is completely rigged against support classes. Refusing to give up on his dream of realizing his future by his own terms, Rowan challenges the Tower, the seat of the System and home of the Hero-King, in hopes of bringing the entire System to its knees. Season One complete. Permanent Hiatus, Pending Rewrite. Important notes: -LitRPG fantasy -Rowan is not perfect. He's got flaws, emotions, and personal issues to work through. If you want a perfect, overpowered MC who makes the right decision every time, this is NOT the work for you. -This story opens with a negative situation and an emotional growth arc for the main character. Please don't review until chapter 30 because the arc is not complete until that chapter. (Chapters are short, that's an average RR book's chapter 10) -No harem, no rape, no isekai, no romance -Questions? Please ask!
