Maya is looking out the window, enjoying the sunset, lost in her thoughts. Siri and Sravya, who entered the room saw her lost somewhere. They called her name, but she didn't budge. They looked at each other with a mischievous glint in their eyes. They went near her, stood on either side of her and shouted loudly in her ears, giving a break to her thoughts.
"What the hell, guys? Why are you guys shouting like that, as if I'm in some other planet? Ouch, my poor ears", Maya yelled at them.
"Madam, we have been calling you for a long time, but you're so lost in your own world, and we didn't have any other option left. By the way, what are you thinking so deeply?" Sravya said, rolling her eyes.
"Umm, nothing", Maya said, avoiding her gaze.
"Then why are you not looking at us, Akka? Wait, did you have any romantic dreams with Bava or what? You can share it with us. You know, we won't mind at all", Siri said, winking at her sister.
"Nothing like that", said Maya.
"You don't need to hide it. We won't mind if you say that if you're dreaming about my Anna. What do you say, Siri?" Sravya said, with a mischievous smile.
"Yeah! We won't mind", Siri said, giving a hi-fi to Siri.
Siri and Sravya started, laughing loudly looking at Maya's face.
"Shut up, you silly people. And, stop laughing like maniacs", Maya said, glaring at them.
Their moment is interrupted by a knock on the door.
"Sorry! Looks like I've interrupted your moments", said Taara.
"There is nothing like that akka. And, how come you are here? Did he tell you?" Maya asked, looking at her.
"What to do? You didn't invite me to your engagement, so I myself invited me", Taara said, dramatically.
"I messaged him. But he didn't respond", Maya said looking down.
"No problem. Your soon-to-be husband didn't forget to invite me", said Taara.
Listening to her, Maya looked at her confused.
"Oh! I forgot, I'm Veeru's fiance", said Taara.
"You are engaged?" Maya asked, surprised.
"Yes! We got engaged last month", said Taara.
"Oh! Sorry akka, I didn't know that. Anyways, congrats akka", said Maya.
"Thank you! Oh no! By the way, I totally forgot why I came here. They have told me to bring you out. So once again, check everything so that we can go, and please make it fast. Your groom is waiting there for you impatiently", said Taara.

Maya mumbled an "Okay".
*************************
Let's see what's going on outside in the garden where the engagement is going to take place.
"Oh God, Veeru! When will she come, yaar? Still, how much time do I've to wait?" Avi asked, looking at the entrance of the garden, tapping his foot continuously.
"Stop getting impatient, idiot. Tara has gone to bring her right, it's not like she is running away by ditching you", Veeru said, shaking his head in disbelief, looking at his best-friend.
"You donkey! I will see you after the engagement", Avi said, glaring at him.
"Sure, why not?" Veeru said, glaring back at him.
Both of them were busy bickering, that they failed to notice someone else's presence besides them.
"Will you guys just shut your mouths? The ritual is about to start", Taara whisper yelled at them.
That's when both of them noticed that everyone was looking at them weirdly.
"When did you guys come?" Veeru asked her.
"When both of you were busy in your bromance", Taara said, rolling her eyes at him.
"Don't roll your eyes at me", said Veeru.
"What will you do then?" Taara asked him.
"Do you want me to show you?" Veeru said, coming closer to her.
"No need", she said, pushing him and running from there.
"Mad girl", Veeru said to himself, looking at her.
He then looked behind him and noticed that his buddy was lost in his girl and was busy admiring her.
Avi's pov:
I was busy bickering with Veeru when I heard the faint jingling sound of anklets. There she is, my bride, looking drop-dead gorgeous in that peacock-green saree of hers. Why does she have to look this beautiful? I just couldn't take my eyes off of her. I've seen her in a half-saree many times before, but this is the first time I'm seeing her in a saree and she is looking like an angel. The colour of the saree is perfectly complimenting her honey skin tone. A maang tikka is adorning her forehead. Her slender neck is adorned with a golden neck-piece and a delicate gold chain. Her waist is festooned with the waist-band and the jingling glass bangles adorning her hands along with the dark red mehendi. Her waist-length hair is perfectly braided and decorated with jasmines. Oh God! She is just looking divine. A tinge of blush is adorning her cheeks, making her face glow, but something is missing.

"Will you stop staring at her like a creep?" Veeru whispered to Avi, making him come out of his dream land.
Soon the rituals started. Both of them stood beside each other and exchanged their rings. It's fixed that the marriage will be conducted after 15 days.
"Finally! Just 15 days after that you'll be with me forever", Avi said, happily.
Maya just smiled, listening to him.
"You are looking beautiful in this saree, bunny", he whispered in her ears.
Again, all he got was just a smile from her, making him sigh.
"I will ask you a question, answer me frankly", Avi asked her.
She nodded her head.
"I need words bunny", Avi said, sternly.
"What do you want to know?" Maya asked, looking at him.
"Are you happy with this marriage? Say frankly, I won't say anything. Just tell me, what your heart feels. Don't think about others. Just think about you. If you are not happy with the marriage then I'll say something on my behalf and cancel the wedding", Avi asked her.
"What will you say now?" Maya asked him.
"That's for me to think. I'll manage by taking blame on my side, as I'm the one who put forward the proposal. If you can't answer now, take your time but tell me before the day ends", saying that, he moved from there.
He went towards his buddy who was talking with some guests. He stood there listening to their talks and trying to involve himself in the conversation, but his thoughts were roaming around his girl.
Veeru who saw his buddy lost somewhere, excused himself from the guests and dragged him to a corner.
"What the hell, man? Why did you drag me here?" Avi shouted at him.
"Stop shouting like a mad man and answer me. What happened? Why are you behaving like a Devadas now? Sometime back you were behaving like a Romeo", Veeru asked, raising his eyebrow.
"Nothing, buddy", said Avi.
"Then why this monkey face?" Veeru said, with a teasing smirk.
"Did you just say that I'm a monkey?" Avi asked, glaring at him.
"Yes, any doubt", said Veeru.
"If I'm a monkey, then you are a chimpanzee", Avi said, showing his tongue to him.
"Then you are a panda. Now, stop diverting the topic and spill the beans", Veeru said, sternly.
Seeing that there was no escape, Avi explained everything to him.
"What if she says no? Will you leave her? Will you be able to live without her and be happy?" Veeru asked him.
"If she is happy without this marriage, then I'll leave her. Didn't I manage all these years without her? I'll do the same for the rest of my life", Avi said, with an emotionless face.
"Are you in your senses?" Veeru yelled at him.
"I'm in my senses only. Just look at her, buddy", Avi said, pointing at Maya who was lost somewhere. "I couldn't see any emotions in her. All I want is her happiness, buddy."
"If you want her happiness, then why did you drag her into this mess?" Veeru asked him.
"Because I cannot imagine her with someone else", Avi said, closing his eyes.
"You are saying you can't imagine her with someone, and you are only saying if she is not happy with you, you will leave her. Look buddy, you guys are engaged now. Yes, you can cancel the wedding easily, but did you think about the situations after that? You are a guy, people won't judge you. But they will point her out. Okay, let's not think about other people, but what about both the families? Will your mother be able to show her face to her brother tomorrow? One day or the other, they might reconcile, but the pain will remain somewhere deep down in their hearts", Veeru explained to him.
"But."
"No ifs and buts. I've said what I feel. Nothing comes to your plate directly, you have to work hard for it. As your buddy, I'm saying to you, don't give up on her. Because after that you can't do anything, but regretting over the things that have happened. Just give her sometime, everything will be fine. Give her some space to process everything, as everything is going fast. You can't expect everything to be perfect, buddy. So, my dear Kittu, think properly and don't take stupid decisions in haste", Veeru said, patting his back, giving him a side hug and assuring him that everything will be fine.

Ætla Verǫld
AV Online was just a flash in the pan—a harsh, experimental land which lost most of its players in mere weeks. Only the dedicated few remained, carving out their destinies in corners of the vast abandoned world. Lily Quinn wasn't one of them. With a career worth millions in the esports world, she didn't have time for a game like Avo—but when an exclusive beta test for the new version showed up on her doorstep, she couldn't say no… as much as she wanted to. Literally hooked into the simulation, Lily reluctantly entered a world beyond anything she'd ever dreamed of. Accompanied by seven other beta testers desperate to save their beloved game, Lily dives into a vibrant, beautiful world, where mystery and adventure waits around every corner. Despite her reservations, Lily finds a joyful escape in Avo, shattering her cold, hollow reality. It was just a game though… until the group discovered they couldn't log out. Trapped in a game with no rules, and surrounded by cutthroat players eager to kill for a quick windfall, Lily and her ragged band have no choice but to fight their way out, or die in a game that has turned all too real. Hi there! I'm setting off on yet another adventure, come join me :3 Unusually for me, there's only one perspective this time, and it's quite a bit more action-oriented than I usually write. Don't worry, though: everything's still as character-driven as always, and I never get tired of writing dialogue. Just to acknowledge it up front: this story is heavily inspired by EVE Online and the many stories generated by that world. However, since this is a fantasy setting, not sci-fi, don't expect any real parallels. Chapter publish rate for this one will be whenever I write them, as with Epilogue. I don't expect to move as fast here though, since it's not for NaNo. The plan is chapters somewhere in the 4k-5k range, and hopefully frequently. The Last Science takes priority as always though. Special thanks to Reaver and Ace Arriande for pushing me to get this going, and to all my fellow writers whom I've stolen from been inspired by. You're all wonderful people and I love you Quick reminder: Patrons get to read ahead of what's published! Also, try my other works: The Last Science — A Tale of Modern Magic Epilogue — A Post-Fantasy Psychodrama What are you still doing on the synopsis? Get to reading!
