《Bad Things》Chapter Seven - The poor girl fell for a murderer

"Explain," I demand as I slide into a chair at the table I always sit at. A few other people are sitting with us too but I ignore them, too curious to care.

"Hm?" Lea looks up, her mouth full of food.

I turn to Cora. "Okay, you speak." I tell her.

"Um... Well, let's just say Jake's a bad boy...?" She says, frowning. "Like, the really bad type of bad boy, not the hot bad boy..." She trails off, not knowing what else to say.

"Mhmm," Lea nods as she finishes chewing. "He's not the 'open my legs and eat me like a taco, papi!' type. I mean, he can if he wants to, but he's dangerous." She over exaggerates her fake accent as she talks and I roll my eyes.

"He can't be that bad," I deny their statements.

"Yeah, that's probably what Hitler's girlfriend said, but the day after they got married she had to kill herself. The poor girl fell for a murderer." Lea sighs and shakes her head in remorse.

I stare down at the table with a frown, trying to make sense of what I'm being told. A bad, bad boy? What?

"Ohh, babe, Asher's coming in," Lea tells me and I turn to look at Asher who has his chin up as he walks in beside Jake.

Asher Stone. The boy that has been constantly on my mind for four years now. The boy who knows I exist but doesn't care at all because he is a model for Vogue already and has way prettier girls fawning after him.

Wait, but what is he doing beside Jake?

"Um, and hot neighbour," Cora mumbles under her breath. Lea nods in agreement and I just roll my eyes.

"I'll see you guys later," I mumble and slide out of my seat.

If Cora and Lea won't tell me who Jake is, then I am going to have to ask him myself.

"Hey, asshole," I say as I walk up to Jake. He turns to look at me with a frown and his frown deepens when he sees it's me.

He grabs my wrist and pulls me closer, leaning down to whisper in my ear, "I thought I said don't talk to me."

"Yeah, well apparently you're dangerous and I want to know why," I state, folding my arms and looking around to see people looking at us. Even Asher is looking at me.

"Go away, people are watching," he says through gritted teeth as he lets go of me.

"Look, this is the face of someone who couldn't give two shits. Meet me in the girls bathroom right now," I command and spin on my heels, walking out the cafeteria and to the closest girls bathroom.

I lean against the wall and wait for Jake. All the bathrooms stalls are empty, which is a good thing because that way nobody will have to know we're talking.

I don't exactly want to be associated with him, especially if he has a bad reputation.

The door swings open after a few minutes and Jake walks in, a huge grin on his face. "You are literally so confusing. Like, in front of everyone you're an asshole and then you come in here grinning like a fucking chimpanzee?" I throw my hands up in frustration, shaking my head.

His smile widens. "How am I an asshole, exactly? I said go away, which is what we agreed you would do this morning."

I roll my eyes. "Who are you? I thought you were just some guy that went to another school but apparently not," I say, annoyed.

"You slept with me and you didn't even know who I was?" he asks, amused as ever.

Ugh, I could slap him so hard right now! So annoying! He's amused by my stupidity and confusion. It's official, I hate him.

"Who are you?" I ask through gritted teeth.

"Aww, is my little cookie angry?" He steps forward and lets out a fake growl, "I'm a werewolf. Want me to bite you?" He winks, pushing me up against the wall and leaning down to kiss my neck.

He really needs to stop this. I try to push him off me, but he grabs my wrists and holds them up against the wall.

"Such a dick! Let me go, Jake!" I scream and he just laughs.

A girl walks into the bathroom and her eyes immediately find us. "Uh... Um, let her go!" The girl shouts, looking terrified.

"Get out," Jake Says firmly, turning to give her a deadly glare.

The girls eyes find mine and she watches me, silently. "I... Okay," She squeaks. She leaves as fast as she came in, leaving me alone with Jake.

"If you're going to kill me or whatever then can you do it quickly? Like, before I have to go to physics?" I raise my eyebrow and look up at Jake, who still has me against the wall.

"I'll kill you after physics," he states.

"Aw, come on! At least save me from Mr. Hilde," I beg, pouting.

"You really need to stop pouting, or I'm going to have to do something worse than killing you." He slides my hands up, so they are above my head and still against the wall. "I'm going to have to kiss you."

I scowl and lift my knee up, kicking him straight in his family jewels. "Don't even think about doing that," I say venomously. No way in hell will I ever let him do that or anything close to that again.

He steps away from me, bending over and hissing in pain. I start to walk to the door. If he's not going to tell me what or who he is, then I really don't care.

"Ever heard of The Hawks?" Jake steps in front of the door, his face still scrunched in pain as he breaths hard.

I stop in my tracks and look down at the floor. The Hawks? I've heard it... "Oh yeah, they're those murderers, right? The people who are paid to kill." I nod, remembering exactly who they are.

Those guys are people you definitely don't want to mess with. I don't really know much about them though, except that they are hit men. From what I recall, there are four men that do it, and they do it really well.

"Why would you kill people for money?" I say, talking to myself.

"Hey, it pays the bills, Cookie. Plus, it's really fun. You don't know what it feels like to hold someone at the throat," he says and takes my throat gently in his one hand, "and have them beg for mercy."

His eyes darken and I step away, almost falling over in shock, "Y-You're one of them," I stutter, my eyes wide as I keep walking back.

I thought he was joking about killing me, but what if he isn't? I don't want to die! Especially not without burning the disk in my draw first.

"What disk?" Jake asks.

I look up in fear, "Nothing! No disk! What are you talking about?" Shit, I say the stupidest things out loud.

"Please leave me alone," I beg, "I'll do anything, just don't hurt me."

"Hurt you?" Jake shakes his head and walks to me again, making me internally groan. Why does he always have to be close to me or pushing me up against a wall?

"Cookie, I wouldn't ever hurt you. I mean, you're too adorable for that shit. I wouldn't be able to do that to you. I know The Hawks are killers, but the other guys in the team really aren't that bad either," He defends.

"Yeah, tell that to all the people you've killed," I say stubbornly, folding my arms.

He chuckles and slides his hands onto my waist, pulling me closer. "The only place I'd make you scream, is in bed," he whispers and I push him away forcefully.

"Don't touch me!" I scream, running to the door. "And don't you dare call me 'Cookie' ever again."

He purses his lips and watches me as I leave him alone in the bathroom, not looking back.
